This is created from several lists, prominent one being the list created in 8/1994 by Subu, Kannikeswaran, Krishna Sivaramapuram, Ramesh Vaidhyanathan, Ramesh Mahadevan, Subramaniam Ramamani and others. It was updated in 6/2000 by Vidhya, Rajaraman.

Some film songs are based on catchy classical tunes and here, we list the songs according to the raagam they might be based on. We list some such songs under a raga (with a *) which is probably the closest (where the musician probably got the idea from). This list categorizes some songs into classical ragas. Some of the old classics are truly in the ragas listed, while some of the recent additions maybe more like 'in the scale of the raga' (there is a world of difference). Doubtful & approximate ones are listed separately.

If you want to add a new raga:

1. Do a search with the raga name. It will (probably) return no results, and give you an option to create the page. Click on it and a blank page will be created.
2. Just cut&paste the wiki code below and use it as a template to fill in the information.
