Hopefully it doesn't turn out the way of Billa and Sarvam.. Films which are predominantly shot in North America rarely do well too. We'll see.....

Will Nootrenbadhu set a new trend?
Tamil cinema has explored villages to the hilt in the past few years, with violence, unkempt looks and the use of the aruval being showcased by filmmakers.
But, there have hardly been any city-based movies that's hit screens. And, that's why the youthful, uniquely-titled Nootrenbadhu (180) promises to be a whiff of fresh air. The film's visuals, shot in the United States, Malaysia, Chennai and Hyderabad, have been lauded by many, thanks to the director's vision executed by acclaimed-cinematographer Balasubramanien.
A lot has been said about Nootrenbadhu, ad guru Jayendra's directorial debut starring Siddharth, who is making a comeback to Tamil cinema after seven years, Nithya Menen and Priya Anand. The film, produced by Sathyam Cinemas and Aghal Films, promises to be a love story with a difference. There has been a lot of speculation about the story and the meaning behind the title. While not much has been revealed about it, one can certainly say that Nootrenbadhu is a film that will set a new trend for filmmakers in Tamil cinema. It is a sophisticated film that brings out the true essence of its main characters set against an urban backdrop.
But doesn't it concern the director that a film so different from the current trend may not be accepted by the public? This is a film for an universal audience. With the latest trends in technology and tools like social media, there is no real segregation in the audience as SEC A, B or C. They are all beginning to merge and people are beginning to have a more universal outlook on things. This is the appeal of Nootrenbadhu, says a confident Jayendra, who has shot the entire film on the Red digital camera with the exception of the Rules Kidayadhu... song that was shot with the Phantom Flex camera to capture the magic of each moment in ultraslow motion.
It is a beautiful film that requires a certain level of sophistication from the audience that watches it. I think the Tamil audience definitely has that and will be able to appreciate it, says an eager and hopeful Siddharth.
Nootrenbadhu will hit screens on June 25. For updates on the film and promotions , visit
www.180thefilm .com.
Having high expectations for this flick..hopefully it releases here..must watch

I guess, 180 represents the degree, complete change in character. Noticed that Sidharth is being called with two names in teaser. So it has got something to do in hinding his identity. May be as said in the earlier post, he may live his last 180 days with completely a different identity.
Visual gives a feel of Aanadha thandavam...
I feel this movie won't work out with our tamil audience.

Rules Kideayaadhu Song
Music: Sharreth | Lyrics: Karky | Singer: Tipu
When a moment freezes in time, the rules of reality get suspended and suddenly you see magic in things that never demanded a second look. It is when a moment is frozen or slowed down by multiples of hundred times, you suddenly see that gravity disappears into thin air. You see man fly like a bird, walk on water or dance in air. Things that look unreal but are not. It is happening around us every day, every moment and yet we don't see them. Slowing time brings this magic to light in the song Rules Kidayadhu in Nutrenbadhu.
The song, with lyrics by Karky and choreography by Dinesh, was shot on the Phantom Flex camera that can shoot up to 2500 frames per second. Here, director Jayendra wanted to express the power and potential of each moment. The song exaggerates the actions that happen in a second through slow motion and makes us realize the magic that goes unnoticed in routine life.
A film by Jayendra starring Siddharth, Nithya Menen and Priya Anand. Produced by Sathyam Cinemas and Aghal Films.

Music was good too but there was one really weird and spooky song played during a sad scene
that song ruined the whole scene..

btw, the movie has nothing to do with extramarital affairs

Sharreth is actually known for that (I havent even listened to even 5% of his compositions, but have read about him). I mean the twists and 180 degree turns in the tune. Seems he does that every other song of his. But once you get past this minor irritant, or get used to it, the songs can be very addicting. Try listening to AJ, sandhikkaadha kaNgaLil etc. Album of the year so far, IMO. And I am so very glad that the music has been getting accolades from various sections of the media.

w.a.t.c.h.e.d. i.t.
i have seen and enjoyed many pointless movies, but this one is totally pointless in being pointless.
(if u think i liked it or i did not, you are right)
do watch the 'rules kidayaadhu' song, the main idea for the movie is conveyed in that one particular song.
fell in love with vidhya's voice.
the 'nyayame' song reminded me of three things:
1. ilutthufying aluminia deksa on simentu tharai.
2. writing with mattamaana chalkpiece on blackboard.
3. this has beaten the 'soodaamani' song.
coincidence:
180 = Quarter cuttting. i liked both these movies to the same level.
and rightly i am gonna enjoy the 180 which never disappoints me.

I thought SoftSword was referring to 'Yendi Soodamani' song from Pammal K Sambandam. IMO, it perfectly matches the description posted by him...
//1. ilutthufying aluminia deksa on simentu tharai.
2. writing with mattamaana chalkpiece on blackboard.//
Here it is...

+1 , very unique song(oppari rAgam) and suited to that situation in the movie.. felt like Kamal could extract the required work even from Deva..

Ennathu he was BEST MD for kamal and Rajini? Which according to you is the best for Deva - KH combo. I kinda enjoy his songs whether its sutta pazham or sudadha pazham.

nInga solRA time period-ku Rahman fans dhAn sandaikku varaNum. IR barely had a Rajini movie during that time. If you are including whole of 90s, then even you can not be biased enough to consider Baasha etc over Thalapathy, Ejamaan and even Veera.
So enakku idhuvum kiLukiLuppu dhAn. Kamaan padayappa, Baba and Muthu fans

andha soodaamani'yum namma naramba podaikka vekkum
and abt the PKS, i dono bother wat raga it is, the irritating factor is the voice and the way of singing.
one thing is, i could not sing the soodaamani song even after multiple attempts, but today morning i gave a decent attempt in recreating the 'nyayame' masterpiece when i was in one delicate position. inimae nite'la vaazhapazham saapdanum.

No offence, kadandha sila maasangaLA, I have been using Endhiraaaaaa for this purpose. It is not the quality of the song that matters here - it is the amount of uLmoochu izhuththu vayithula pressure pOgaRA mAdhiri irukka koodiya pAdalgaL that serve as vaazhaipazham. innum EdhAvadhu tips vENumA?

Same here. I agree the singer Anuradha Sriram has put in good effort to sing that song. But that doesn't make it a classic. That too when you make a comedy, எதுக்கு இந்த தேவை இல்லாத risk? PKS Audio cassette கேக்கும்போது இந்த பாட்டு படத்தில வர கூடாதுன்னு வேண்டிக்கிட்டேன்
OTOH, Raaja would have given a really nice song for such a situation.

Average, Could have been much better. The main conflict is not handled well and didn't have any impact. And Priya Anand's character/portrayal was irritating
OTOH, Nithya Menon
