I have seen Vikarmarkudu, I wont say anything about the movie.,
But I am very glad to know which Vidyasagar movie to look forward too after Kaavalan.
Karthi n Tamanaah, looked good together in paiya.
Siruthai is a promising movie project.

KICK is still one of fav time pass movie, It was rediculed in sambar test by some amateur cast and direction.
btw if these are junk movies, why are they so desperate to do sambar test on them i say ?

Hi frnds seen the telugu version yesterday, I feel the first half is really gud expect for the dialogues uttered by ravi teja in the interval fight (y blood same blood) second half is ok but a lot of half cooked ideas which luks so crappy, but if they make adequate changes it ll be a superb movie.....wish to see karthi in the cop costume, the above still luks really gud, cheers for Karthi

Your current project?
I am shooting Siruthai, a remake of Telugu Vikramarkudu. It is shaping up well. For the first time I am teaming up with Santhanam. The shooting spot is lively and I am having fun. It is a mass commercial entertainer with lots of emotions and I do a double role for the first time.
Vikramarkudu was known for its lewd comedy. Are there changes in Siruthai?
Yes, of course, we have made many changes. The film was released four years back and we have altered it to suit our audience.

Cinematographer-turned-director Siva revealed recently that Karthi will be seen in nine get-ups for a song in Siruthai. The actor is keen on experimenting and was game for the nine get-ups when the director suggested it.
The film has some comedy sequences which are sure to have the audiences roaring in laughter, says director Siva. Tamannah pairs up with Karthi for the second time after their success in Paiyya.
Siva has two Telugu hits to his credit and Siruthai will be his first Tamil venture. The film is being shot extensively in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

SIRUTHAI ON SUN PICTURES RADAR]
http://www.behindwoods.com/tamil-mov...-01-11-10.html
If Sun Pictures manages to acquire Siruthai, it would be their first venture with Karthi. They had earlier distributed Suriya’s Ayan and Singam and both these films were mega hits, apart from several other films.
Karthi is fast climbing his way to the top slot with three releases this year – Aayirathil Oruvan, Paiyya and Naan Mahaan Alla. With Siruthai being a remake of the Telugu hit film Vikramarkudu, there are high hopes that this film would also turn out to be box office success for the young actor.
And if Sun Pictures jumps the bandwagon, Siruthai is going to be a surefire success.

Karthi is playing a dual role in his upcoming film ‘Siruthai’ and the name of one of the characters, according to circles very close to the unit, is ‘Rocket Raja’ which is said to be a “very lively” one.
Revealing more secrets, the sources say: “Rocket Raja is a petty thief who with the company of his aide (Santhanam) cheats the gullible. The character is full of comedy but only till the interval.”
“When the second half begins, the film will go to the action block and the other face of Karthi would be revealed. His second role in the film would make the audience whistle non-stop,” they further say.
The movie directed by Tollywood filmmaker Shiva and produced by Studio Green has Tamannah opposite Karthi. “If everything goes as planned, ‘Siruthai’ will come out roaring this year end,” add sources.

Plum, the actual expression is, as cittu put, "Mandi tak basah, tidur tak lena". Those in lauv go through this, where you don't feel wet even when you bath, and you can sleep soundly. But for comedic purpose P. Ramlee twisted it around, Mandi tak lena, tidur tak basah (Couldn't bath soundly, and didn't get wet when I slept). Funny in Malay. In English it looks disturbing I suppose.

Venus to launch Siruthai audio!
2010-12-14 09:51:46
It is the season of new audio companies making foray into Tamil film audio business.
The Mumbai based Venus has been making waves after they snapped up Manmadhan Ambu, Vaanam and Kaavalan.
Venus's latest acquisition is Karthi's Siruthai, which is said to have some peppy music by Vidyasagar.
The audio of the film will be launched on Sunday, December 19. In the film which has six songs, Tamannaah is the heroine and Santhanam does the comedy.
Recently the last song in the film was shot at a Chennai studio with Karthi appearing in various get-up's.
Karthi plays a dual role as a cop and thief in the film produced by Studio Green, and is said to be a mass entertainer which will release for Pongal 2011.

Siruthai trailer launched
The trailer and website launch of Studio Green's Siruthai was a grand affair at the Satyam cinemas on Sunday morning.
The entire event looked like a family affair with warmth and good wishes emanating for the Suriya-Karthi pair by all the dignitaries on the dais.
While Lingusamy launched the website, Gautham Menon launched the trailer, in the presence of chief guest Suriya. The event was one of the rare ones where the heroine of a film is present, with Tamannaah looking resplendent in a sari. The trailer and two songs were screened for the audience.
While one song had Karthi in nine get ups with Santhanam, the other was a love melody shot in Phuket between the lead pair.
The music director Vidyasagar revealed how choosy director S Siva was about the music while Suriya said, "I am waiting to work in a film with Vidyasagar but Karthi has reached there before me. Even now when I run on the treadmill I hear only his music for that extra energy to run."
He added, "We normally keep photos of gods or family members on our mobile phones but Karthi kept Ravi Teja’s pic on his phone for one year, just to get the nuance of his cop role right from the Telugu original of this film. He does comedy effortlessly and this is a big plus in the film. I am sure Siruthai will be ten times more than Singam."
Jeyam Raja praised the Suriya- Karthi brothers team while producer Ravindran described the film as a feast for the public, exhibitors and distributors this Pongal. Director Rajesh said, "This is like a double promotion for Karthi who is doing a dual role."
Karthi added, "This is a dream film for me. While playing the cop however, I tried hard not to look like Suriya in Singam. Director Siva has worked on the script for more than a year to get it right and Vidyasagar’s music will be a hit. I am grateful to the entire team for putting this film together."
Producer Gnanavel Raja came in for much praise from one and all for giving quality films so far. The event was attended by Parthiban, Shanmugam, SP Muthuraman, A Jagannathan, Prabu Solomon, Subhash C Bose, Anbu Chezhiyan, Vijay, Rajeevan and cameraman of the film, Velraj, amongst others.
Tamannah’s speech in Tamil was praised by Suriya who lauded her hard work to reach the top.

Vikram isn't in either generation if you by age (don't go by Wiki, he should be around 50 now as I personally know he celebrated his 32nd birthday around Meera days). I think age has something to do with effectiveness of 'mass image'. Early Ajith/Vijay never suited it. After some fine tuning, they've got into their zone. Similarly, a younger Vikram (Ulasam period) wouldn't actually be in the right zone. When he touched his 40's, he seemed at ease. At his best, there's no comparison. Saamy/Dhool should be the best of this bracket.
Karthi is easily the most persuasive of all (incl. Vikram-Ajith-Vijay-Surya generation). He has the 'image' by nature. Doesn't have to nurture it (like Surya). What is he? 30 years old?
If you take Telugu cinema, no one would guess the baby-faced Mahesh would be one of the most effective 'mass heroes'. He has that right effect of intensity in the extra gear. Likewise, Madhavan (for all his chocolate boy looks) too seemed at ease when he did "Run". It's not just about facial hair either.

ive said this before, and ill say it agn..punch dialogues have onli suited 3 actors in tamil cinema history..i shant name them as its pretty much obvious..
actors like karthi shldnt say punch dialogues..his face and body doesnt suit him..even in paiyaa, they shld have avoided all those mass scenes..shabba, 4 padam thaan aachu, athukkulaiye ippadiya?

Mahen,
Telugu is too much Violence,Glamour
Malayalam is too much towards reality
Tamil travels in between.
IMO though...
Look at the Villains of any Mass Tamil movie eg., SAAMY
It is little bit less violence[not too sound] though it was played by telugu actor
But here the Villains are with Long Hair [though thats not the problem] looks very dramatic and unnatural.

It's not just the villain Mahen. Sometimes you can just sense the Telugu style through the OTT presentation...too colourful, too much of glamour, lots of violence and shouting, silly comical scenes...yes, you can see all these in Tamil films too but Telugu films tend to overdo it.

Music Review - Siruthai

Music Review - Siruthai
Streaking success with Yuvan Shankar Raja and G.V. Prakash, Karthi has joined hands with Vidhyasagar for the first time. ‘Siruthai’ has a mix of melody and fast beat numbers.
1. Naan Romba Romba Nalla
Vocals: Ranjith
Lyrics: Arivumathi
The song will be an instant hit as it grasps into our senses for the first time we hear it. The song boasts of commercial ingredients well tailored for the subject. The title song carries the trademark style of ‘Jinthak Thak Thak’ as it was in original version and Kannada remake. The song has a peppy beat with catchy lines. Ranjith has rendered the song with high energy levels.
2. Rakkamma Rakku….
Singers: Ranjith, Suchitra & Roshan
Lyrics: Arivumathi
Remember ‘Ithandi Keppakilange’ from ‘Dhool’. The complete song has the same repetition throughout the song. The singers Ranjith, Suchitra and Roshan try enhancing the song’s feel. But it remains passable on whole. It may take some more time for the song to do well and ‘Luck’ is in the visual outputs.
3. Azhaga Poranthuputa
Singers: Malathy Laxman & Priyadharshini
Lyrics: Viveka
This song is precisely for the ardent fans of Meghna Naidu. Again, the ‘Kuthu’ song lacks what it should actually carry. Maybe, filmmaker Shiva and music director Vidhyasagar have conceptualized of something different as it may do greater rounds with continuous airings on FM Stations.
4. Aararo Aariraro (Thalattu)
Singers: Srivadhini
Lyrics: Pa. Vijay
Though it’s a theme song with a shorter duration, it carries riveting theme in lyrics with a mellisonant tune. It maybe a cradlesong for the baby in the film, but it’s such an emotional song that keeps us transfixed by its spell. Good work by Pa. Vijay, Vidhyasagar and Srivadhini.
5. Chellam Endha Chellam
Vocals: Udit Narayanan, Charmukhi
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar
The splendid melody by Udit Narayanan and Charmukhi sounds perfect for a duet number. Shot across the exotic locales of Mauritius. It’s sure to be a big treat for the listeners as Vidhyasagar includes few innovative traits like the English lyrics that appear in between the lines.
On the whole, ‘Siruthai’ songs have 3 tracks ‘Naan Nalla’, ‘Vaada Chellam’ and ‘Thalattu’ that pick your interests for the first itself. Couple of other tracks is sure to gain its momentum by next few weeks.
Verdict: Grab your copy

Siruthai Music Review by Behindwoods
Naan Romba Romba...
Vocals: Ranjith, Chorus
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar
This is the Rocket Raja exclusive! Ranjith sings for one of the Siruthais, who is self-aggrandizing about himself. A usual introduction song for the hero! Na. Muthukumar's lyrics like "sollurathellam suthamana poi... vekkurathu ellam pocket la kai" reveal the character as much as possible. Must be a strong favourite among Karthi's fans!
Chellam Vada Chellam...
Vocals: Udit Narayan, Surmukhi, Roshan
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar
A short romantic number, Chellam Vada chellam has neat and simple beats as the base arrangement. With Roshan's rap-like interludes, Udit Narayan and Surmukhi deliver a poesy number. When we just think that the song will lose track in the second part, Vidyasagar makes sure that it does not slip away. A worthy listen!
Azhagha Poranthuputa...
Vocals: Malathy Laxman, Priyadharshini
Lyrics: Viveka
A very different beginning to the song but don’t be fooled, as the song has a lot more to offer. This song is about the heroine raving about his 'man'. The beats and the voice remind us of yester-year village songs where the heroine sings praises of her fiance. The song may appeal more when we see a brisk Karthi on the screen!
Thalattu...
Vocals: Srivardhini
Lyrics: Arivumathy
Srivardhini sings a delightful Thalattu. Though there is nothing new about the song itself, it is a refreshing listen. A peaceful song considering what is to come next.
Adi Rakkamma Rakku...
Vocals: Ranjith, Suchitra, Roshans
Lyrics: Pa. Vijay
Ranjith is back with Rakkamma Rakku. A cheerful and energetic song! Suchitra gives the song what it requires: zest. A folk arrangement with synthesised music (the trend nowadays) makes the song an interesting listen. If slipped in at the right moment in the movie, the song is sure to create ruckus in movie halls.
Verdict: 2.5/5
A surprisingly short album, the total time adding up to less than 20 minutes, Siruthai emphasizes the fact that it is a commercial entertainer. This may not be Vidyasagar's best album but he has given what the movie requires: A crisp album with short and sweet songs. The songs also have impressions of earlier hits, but Vidyasagar has cleverly given a new look and feel to each of them. Overall, Siruthai is a worthy listen to and must appeal to Karthi's fans is a huge way.

SIRUTHAI MOVIE PREVIEW
Behindwoods review board
Starring: Karthi, Tamannah, Santhanam
Direction: Siva
Music: Vidyasagar
Production: KE Gnanavel Raja
This Studio Green production ‘Siruthai’, starring the hit-pair Karthi and Tamannah in the lead, is ready to pounce into fans’ hearts. It’s a remake of the Telugu hit ‘Vikramarkadu’. The film is directed by Siva (Sivakumar) who made his debut direction in the Telugu industry with Souryam and Sankham. He is a cinematographer turned director from the Telugu film world stepping into Kollywood through Siruthai. Producer KE Gnanavel Raja enjoyed a hat-trick of success in Naan Mahan Alla after Paruthiveeran and Singam.
This project with Karthi donning double roles is expected to surge to new heights as Karthi’s tinsel graph has already gone high with his latest films Paiyaa and Naan Mahaan Alla turning out to be hits in the year 2010. Karthi plays a pick pocket as well as a police officer in Siruthai, his fifth venture and the first to pull him into the remake band with all his earlier four being original scripts.
Petite Tamannah is another emerging find of Kollywood climbing the success ladder at a good pace. Karthi -Tamannah pair fared very well in ‘Paiyaa’ and their pleasant chemistry is expected to repeat the magic in this release too. Santhanam, Meghna Naidu and Manobala strengthen the supporting cast.
Karthi in two contradictory characters as a thief as well as a police officer is enough to the storyline with the comic strips in waiting along with enjoyable stunt scenes. He is a pickpocket who never misses out on any of the pocket cutting or thieving act. Santhanam duly lends his hand and is bound to keep the halls packed with laughter.
Music is by Vidyasagar and the songs are already enjoying positive reviews. Cinematography is handled by Velraj who is supposed to have tried out creative angles.
Karthi in dual roles along with his risky stunt sequence bashing 19 thugs in a single shot is going to be a delicious addition to his hard core fans’ Pongal platter enlivening their festive mood.
How far is Siruthai going to leap forward? Let us wait till this weekend to know the answer.
EXPECTATION METER---55

Watched SIRUTHAI @ SATHYAM CINEMAS 3.10 PM SHOW....
KARTHI & Director SIVA was @ the theatre.......
THAMMU was not there

... I asked the DIRECTOR...He said she is in HYDERABAD
MY REVIEW :
FIRST HALF:
*THAMMU's INTRO @ MAYAJAAL WHITE SLEEVELESS SALWAR
*SETU MARRIAGE ROMANCE SCENES
*<SONG chellam vada vada...> CUTE EXPRESSIONS
*THAMMU DISAPPEAR
SEOND HALF:
No. of SCENES / COSTUMES in which THAMMU comes :
*SKY BLUE SAREE
*<SONG rakkamma....>both HOT & CUTE in this song
*DARK BLUE SAREE
*BLUE JEANS & WHITE TOPS @ CLIMAX FIGHT
*GREEN CHUDIDHAR @ THE END
After PAIYAA in which THAMMU comes through out the movie except that MUMBAI FLASH BACK SCENES....
This is disappointing......
She could have agreed to this movie just for the sake of her BF [BEST/BOY] Friend KARTHI

I thought that this movie was amazing!
It was a very good entertainer.
The comedy was brilliant by Karthi and Santhanam.
The action scenes were not boring.
First half- Comedy was outstanding. Karthi and Santhanam performed well.
Second Half-More action than comedy but still there is quite a few comedy scenes with Karthi that are funny
When Karthi steals the chain as Rathnavel, the whole cinema was in laughters!

SANTHAANAM+ROCKET RAJA were @ MOKKAI at its best in that MARRIAGE HOUSE GALATTA as thieves
SANTHAANAM was at his usual best in the second half... that too in the climax as BOMB SQUAD...
Dont know whether TELUGU also had same comedy or this is included in TAMIL alone......
After that KARTHI [RATHNAVEL PANDIAN] saves the day....
When ROCKET RAJA turns as RATHNAVEL PANDIAN, I was slightly reminded of Rajini's ANBUKKU NAAN ADIMAI[80's]....
Ofcourse RAJINI's Humour >> KARTHI's
VILLAIN's

No change in that....
Very unrealistic events....

I saw the telugu version 4 years back and yesterday watched Siruthai with minimal expectation from Karthi. But for everyone's surprise, he came out with a terrific screen presence along with Santhanam.
I was not optimistic on the IPS character before watching, but now changed my mind - this guy can do any character and versatile more than his bro(IMO).

actually, i liked that "my name is ...... IPS" dialogue when i saw the trailer during the interval of MMA. The claps in the theater was deafening too. the villains n the telugu hangovers were the only putoffs in that trailer, and to an extent that Rocket Raja part which seemed a repetition of the 'naughty Karthi' reincarnation.
hmm.. just thinking, has there been any young actor who has impressed almost everyone with each of his first 5-6 outings in Indian cinema?

I saw the telugu original with english subtitles on youtube a few months ago. Siruthai is almost a scene by scene remake with a few changes. They added on more comedy stuff for Santhanam to do especially in the bomb scene. I liked that the song in the telugu version with Ravi Teja, Anuskha and the policewoman and the preceeding portion was not included in Siruthai and it was totally illogical and unnecessary (even when considering the movie is not exactly logical). A few minor changes here and there (from what I can remember), some of which worked better in the telugu version and some in Siruthai. But both movies were over the top and a bit too violent.
I would say Karthi made this movie watchable. He has this easy charm that works very well for his "rogue-like" roles. I can't imagine another actor of his generation in this role. He was also pretty good as the policeman (though I personally felt that Ravi Teja in the original had a more imposing presence). Santhanam was ok. Tamannah looked good but unfortunately had nothing much to do. But she does have good chemistry with Karthi.
The songs were unimpressive and unmemorable to me. The lullaby was nice but the rest were meh. Even though, I just watched Siruthai last night and the telugu version some months ago, I find myself remembering more of the telugu songs and music. I especially liked the original music for the thief character that came together with the "chinta-chinta" thingy in the telugu version which had a verve that was lacking in the background music for Siruthai and was definitely more memorable. I also found the telugu song that showed the thief and his accomplice's doings better than the "Naan romba Romba" song and more fun.
By the way, who is the lady in the photo who was supposed to be Rathnavel's wife? Just a random photo or an actress? In the telugu original, I remember that they showed Jothika's photo.

Atleast to the portion of ANUSHKA in SINGAM
I think she has a good role in Vengai..but its still a risky project

im beginning to lost hope..

hoping for a miracle to happen..
No ISSUES man....
For our strength Many likes THAMMU, and still no good competitor has emerged for her...
Only that she should not give a big gap in TFI....
She has promised she wont leave TFI..she'll sign tamil films from june onwards...
i have a feeling, Kv anand will sign her for his next? are u ok with Surya?

Thanks. No wonder she looked familiar. I kept trying to place her but the photo kept having these reflections that made it difficult.

It was total confusion at the CBO this Pongal. For the first time, the market was divided because no theatre could gauge which film was the winner.
On January 14, Aadukalam and Siruthai released, with the former getting a better opening.
On January 15 - Pongal day - Ilaignan and Kaavalan released. In the suburbs, Kaavalan opened with a matinee show, but loyal Vijay fans thronged the theatre to give it a good opening.
The picture changed dramatically by January 17 (Kannum Pongal). As per early indication, Dhanush's Aadukalam was the clear number one at the CBO, thanks to its good word-of-mouth, strong multiplex preference and fantastic publicity on the Sun Network.
At number two was Karthi's Siruthai, torn apart by critics but loved by the mass audiences. The film - after a very dull opening day - picked up considerably in multiplexes on Sunday and Monday.
Karthi and his team promoted the film aggressively by appearing on all television channels.
Vijay's Kaavalan, on the other hand, released without any fanfare. It is the first-ever ‘big' film to release without any publicity!
Added to that, Vijay's favourite screens like Albert, Thyagaraja, Bharath, Kasi and Kamala were screening other Pongal releases!
In spite of the odds stacked against the film, it managed to open well in limited screens and is at number three.
In fourth position is Ilaignan, which released in good theatres - including prime shows in multiplexes - and has taken an ok opening.
In fifth position is Ravi Teja's Mirapakay, which is the best among Sankranthi Telugu releases.

Kumudam Review

Karthi is in a dual role and Tamannah is in a dare-me-to-shed-some-clothes mode. Remake of Vikramarkudu, Siruthai raises more questions than entertaining since the director seems to have taken his cinematic liberties a bit too far.
Trade Talk:
Rural centers are providing respite for the movie, what with multiplexes registering a trend of slowdown in collections.
Public Talk:
Fun to watch Karthi shouldering the responsibilities of his roles with ease, nevertheless.

Competition between surya and Karthi only?

tbh dhanush has by far better than karthi interms of collections or acting skills.

Mahen/Sura tension ellaam illeenga. I had a feeling that you both have been downplaying Karthi's role in this film's success. And my reaction is not based on the posts in this page alone. I have been seeing this for a long time. Nobody can deny that the film is a success mainly due to Karthi (who is yet to have a flop/disaster) and to an extent, Santhanam. Tamanna, third dhaanE.. I saw the telegu version about 2 years back and at that time I thought who could suite the role in the Tamil version. There will be many for "police officer" but rocket raja character is a bit different and hard to satisfy the viewers. Ravi Teja was awesome and ofcoarse Karthi too. Good choice in casting. Super time pass.
By the way talking about Siruthai, I got to tell you what I felt in the climax scene of Kavalan. I do not know why but I thought about the Ladu Scene. When Vijay's kid wants Asin as his mom, there is a cut and close up of Vijay ... here if they had put vijay thinking 2 ladus .. apt ... lol

Cast: Karthi, Tamannah, Santhanam

Karthi’s first double role, Santhanam’s riotous comedy, Tamannah’s spiked up glam quotient; all these work for Siruthai even while the rest of the movie seems to have nothing much in offer. Karthi added first Telugu remake to his portfolio.
Trade Talk:
B and C centers are lapping up Siruthai and hence the collections in those areas are steadily going, according to trade analyst.

Yeah not a bad movie after all.
Strictly not for those who hate mass masala movies.
Karthi done his role real well!
One best thing in this movie is they said in the begining itself that the movie happens in andhra but ppl speak tamil just for tamil audience. So the Andhra type villans unavoidable.
Second half was boring @ certain points! If this has spread all over the movie this movie would have been disaster.
Mahen sorry : Tammu va ipadi oru role la parthathu illa

(pakathula wife irukum pothu vera!)
Karthi and santhanam comedies worked out @ most places. Climax was fall! Telegu smells all around! Karthi excelled well as rathnavel pandian! Singam comedy track doesnt appeal to me! Siruthai did that!

Personelly I liked RATHNAVEL PANDIAN...

But ROCKET RAJA+SANTHAANAM didnt work for me .....
I felt JEEVAA+KARUNAAS in 'E' [Indha padatha epdi ENGLISH-la type pandradhune theriyala]was > KARTHI+SANTHAANAM in 'SIRUTHAI',.... a similar plot

An unruly cop or a petty criminal – pick your choice of Karthi and he will entertain you in Siruthai. He has Santhanam with the dumb-blond version of Tamannah for company. She also seems to have shed all her inhibitions in shedding few of her clothes.
Trade Talk:
Collections have been brisk over the past few weeks what with the Telugu entertainment value catching up with the Tamil audience.

In behindwoods ratings itself, theatre occupancy is more for kavalan than siruthai but theatres are very less compared to siruthai. So podas saying if kavalan released one day before and if it got the theatres went for siruthai bcoz of the delay, it will beat siruthai easily.
Dont know how behindwoods gave average to kavalan.. Still theatre occupancy is more than siruthai.. but siruthai is termed as hit.. kavalan is average.. koduma..

Not necessarily. Proximity plays a key role. It depends on the consumers's willingness to travel. If a theatre near the consumer is playing say siruthai or aadukalam (which is likely since these movie saw a wider release) would the consumer rather travel to a futher theatre to see kavalan?(which witnessed less number of screens). Fans/hardcore fans probably, but to the average cine-goer? (quite debatable).

LM, would you like to go to a theater that is far away to see Kavalan (you being not a fan)? And also most of the general film goers don't even know that the movie got released, advertisements for Siruthai and others films released too played a major role.

Dhakshan,
It's not like the theaters running Kaavalan are few and far between. The number of screens are less for a Vijay film, that doesn't mean the film is running in dingy theaters in outskirts. About promos, Kalaignar TV/Isai Aruvi started showing trailers once the film is released. You cannot factor these things with respect to the box office status (Hit/Avg/Flop etc), may be the collections might have been little higher than now.

Kalaigner and Isaiaruvi started advertisement after some 1 week, before that only fans knew that movie released. I saw so many surprisingly asking when it was released.

Who downplayed the results of Siruthai? You can celebrate Kaavalan's success by all means, but don't make it like other films gained because of Kaavalan's loss.

I know, but the argument is about which film is a bigger hit, that too based on occupancy rate. I was mainly contesting the claim that Siruthai was a hit because Kaavalan released in less theaters.

Do u accept the fact that delayed release of kaavalan surely resulted in less collection for the movie!
U know What theatres which had posters of kaavalan then changed to other movies just because it dint release and moreover many ppl around me dint know that the movie got released for 4 days! They were suprised when i said i watched kaavalan!

What is pointed out here is that where fans went to see kavalan on the first day and because their was no release of it meant these fans went to see the other movies like aadukalam and siruthai. This increased the first day collection of these two movies substantially which would not have happened in the case of kavalan releasing on the first day itself.
Normally, with today's marketing trends the first 3 days friday, saturday and sunday are the most crucial collection dates and most of the collection is completed within the first week itself with high number of prints and with continuous advertisings in TV's. Kavalan lost the crucial 1 1/2 days ,i.e, 14th and 15th(half day) which badly affected the opening collections.

I accepted it already. I was asking why it was projected as Kaavalan's delayed release made Siruthai as a hit. And someone was questioning how could Siruthai be rated as hit when Kaavalan's theater occupancy was more. I pointed out that it is because Kaavalan is running in less no. of screens. What is there to dispute in this, I don't know.

Thats me

. I didnt complain abt siruthai being rated as hit. I said theatre occupancy is more for kavalan than siruthai.. so if siruthai rated as a hit then kavalan also should be a hit.

Is theater occupancy is the only thing to judge BO status? Even then, Siruthai's less occupancy rate will be balanced by higher number of screens. It's not straight forward as you say.

in-fact he boldly distributed AO in TN without media support..

adhu sub distributors naa...even if sun pic or cloud 9 distributes, there must be a sub distributor to distribute their film in each areas as u mentioned...producers cant do it in their own,yup in recent times only studio green(siruthai) wth the help of cloud 9 hve done that..even for kaavalan rayappan(producer of naadodigal),hve distributed in most of the sub region...

Karthi- Waiting for the right choice
2011-03-19 10:36:24
Last Updated: 2011-03-19 11:01:08
Karthi's Pongal release Siruthai, is the biggest box-office hit of the year so far. A film which hard-boiled critics did not like, went on to become the star's biggest box-office hit in his career.
If Paiyaa theatrical collections crossed Rs 20 crore plus, Siruthai has already collected over Rs 30 Crore! Among the younger lot of heroes only Vijay and Suriya films have done such business.
It has made the five film old Karthi one of the hottest stars in Kollywood. Big producers have been after him to do a film with them and are offering him Rs 7 to 8 Crore to do a film, as he has an
opening.
Says a leading producer who has approached him for a film: "I'm willing to pay Karthi any amount, if he signs on the dotted line, as he is worth it. A bad film like Siruthai worked at the box-office only
due to Karthi's star pulling power."
Meanwhile Karthi the smart guy he is, has done half a dozen interviews with prospective directors who have narrated mass masala stories to him. The shrewd businessman in Karthi has emerged as he will be
producing his next film under his home banner Studio Green, run by his cousin Gnanavel Raja.
As per Kollywood grapevine, Karthi has heard a "fantastic masala story with lots of action, comedy and sentiments" from Mappillai director Suraj, and feels it has a potential. As per trade sources, Karthi will
start shoot for the Suraj film under Studio Green banner immediately and will complete it under 100 days, for an August release!
One more masala movie-va..NOOOOO

Totally hated this movie.I felt that this was the worst movie of the karthi till date after watching it before 2 months. Still wondering how this movie turned out as a big hit.
I just want karthi to come out of this masala hangover and do some movies with good script like NMA,AO etc.,

Sathanam -- scores more marks than BOSS (E) Baskaran.. simply superb in the bomb defusion scenes ... nothing new from him.. but still makes us to laugh.. <clap>
in one scene, karthi: kamaan.. kamaan..
santh: periya senthurapoove vijayakanthu.. kamaan kamaanuttu.....

one of his dialogues abt tamanna.. "namakku summave kai summa irukkadhu.. ippo slow motion'la vera odi varra" < lol >

< never expected this.. > spontaneous laughter
Thamanna: kavarchi kaatrangalaam
if u see this as a comedy film u will enjoy it.. otherwise.. serious scenes

ellam pazhaya padathula irundhu uruvunadhuthan.. eg: thalaila adi patta police.. adikkadi thalai vali vandhu mayangi vizhundhuduvar ( same in senthoorapoove & honest raj)

yes honest na...She has cute face, good colour and beautiful on her own way whereas her structure is not suitable for glamour roles.she was extremely good in kaloori, paiyaa, ayan etc.,Even when she tried to replicate, what illeana did in kick, in the introduction scene of thillalangadi, she failed and didn't work out at all.she should play on her strenghts rather than playing on weakness...

the only difference between telugu and tamil movie is how they find the picture of cop rathnavel pandiyan. in telugu ravi teja is searching in chest, in tamil santhanam has found the picture...

Adhu 2nd half-aa? I stopped at the first fight of Rathnavel Pandian after saving Rocket and the kid from the goons. Karthi as Rocket was simply superb. Fantastic. The first 10 minutes was marana kadi but from the sait wedding the film (read Karthi-Santhanam) picked up. Rathnavel Pandian/villains - torchal.

Did not want to watch the 2nd half but this post of Honest (bomb defusion scenes) has evoked interst.

2nd half was much worse. I FF-ed about 30 mins of the film. OthukkurEn, one of the worst masala films ever. And the climax was straight from the 80s. Even 'Rocket Raja' annoyed me with his overacting. Ratnavel Pandiyan was hopeless. Liked Karthi's emotions when he watches Pandian die. He was awesome in the first half. You can watch the first half (skip first 10 mintues) and about 15 mins of the second half. Tammu's best 'scene' was in the 2nd half

A O -- good attempt.. but for karthi its almost a P V mannerisms
Paiya -- didn't liked it when i watched first..
NMA -- felt paiya better than NMA.. NMA romance ellam Mounaragam karthik - alaipayudhe karthik..ippadi parthachu.. action'um okay ragam thaan
Siruthai -- worst compared to all the above

If a movie like Thiruda Thirudi (dhanush, chaya singh) could become hit, why not Siruthai?
My only 2 complains abt the movie are the dose of violence, which could have been reduced, and the burning house scene which is unneeded.

i still cannot get over the villains/villainism.
i still wonder how the maker imagined, created, cast'ed, choreographed and displayed those characters and their scenes.
that overshadowed karthis acting/no-acting, sandhaanams comedy/kaama-nedi and tamanna's hip/no-hip.
for the TT argument,
i don think anybody would like/enjoy a movie based the movies which they have previous liked/enjoyed.

You can support Siruthai by mentioning the positives of the movie not by dragging some other movie. Whats the problem with Thiruda Thirudi? If you don't like TT does it mean its worthless?

OK sir, Siruthai was entertaining to me, it had what a mass movie should have: heroism, glamour, action, comedy, sentiment, kuthu songs, racy tempo, good story (for no use guy taking responsibility and defeats enemy and saves people from suffering)
about thiruda thirudi, my argument is that it was only popular and became a hit due to one major hit song "Manmadha raasa".

i want to say here that i always hate to hear/watch the manmadha raasa song, except when its played in dance floors where all north indians going crazy...
and TT has an interesting climax fight

The same case with Thiruda Thirudi, how the no use guy takes responsibility and succeed in life. You can complaint about the making standard, but the story everyone can relate to themselves, Also hero and Heroine are Not like Hero & Heroine, they were our neighbours. I feel thats the positive.

No one can withstand 2 1/2 hours of mokkai for just 5 min song. Atleast the movie should be bearable to sit through. Manmadha Raasa is definitely a Major advantage of the movie, but thats not the only reason for the movie to become a Super Hit.
