It looks like Suriya has signed another big budget action film The Business Man for producer Ram Gopal Varma.
The film directed by Telugu hit maker Puri Jagannath is expected to start rolling in October after he completes AR Murgadoss film.
RGV’s idea is to make it as a trilingual in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The Business Man is said to be a gangster flick, a cross between the slickness of RGV directed Company and the mass entertainment quotient of Puri’s Pokkiri.
The film has Suriya a south Indian coming to Mumbai and setting up a crime business using tact and intelligence to emerge as one of the biggest gangsters.
It is being planned a quickie, and will release for summer of 2011.

genuinely happy for Surya going places with bilinguals n trilinguals...at the same time, a bit concerned whether the RGV glitter has blinded Surya's script sense, and hope that he is reading the scripts and not blindly trusting RGV n going ahead with all this like he did with KSR in Aadhavan

Films with RGV, Puri and ARM will all be hits in any (if not all) of the three industries - Tamil, telugu and Hindi. Surya is going to go places in his box office power, I can sense it !

this name has unpredictability written all over it...hence the doubt!
ARM is sureshot success! i don't see telugu films, coz i don't understand the language and watching with subtitles on doesn't work for me, so don't know what puri is about, but saw one of ur posts that he did the original pokkiri, so he shud b gud, but as i mentioned in my post above, anything with RGV's name on it, i am as scared to predict as much as predicting who will be the winner in a cricket match against pakistan whoever their opponents are, be it australia or kenya...depends on which pakistan turns up on the day!

The odds of RGV failing with this story, this particular rivalry Paritala Ravi vs Suri is very less. As I had said, this IS IT. The cream of the crop for RGV, In fact, this story has more richness and the theme of "violence" as a connotation & the question of identity, characters helplessly plunged to a state of turbulent violence, the intemperate ravage of faction rifts than all his other films. The lesser roles have an "Epic" feel to it. Ranging between Godfather Sicilian to Mahabharath's Hastinapura saga..Reading his blog suggests to me, that he really believe this will be his best film yet. And other films like Shiva, Satya, Company, Sarkar, etc have all been hors d'oeuvre for Raktha Charithra, the chef-d'oevure...
But as you said, there is a tinge of unpredictability when it comes to RGV... Especially after Aarghh

My only hope is on ARM's movie. Puri is in out form, with his next movies are going to be with Balayya, Ntr and Surya i have no hope on this movie. If this movie become a hit, i will be happy. But Surya should first concentrate on tamil movies and tamil box office, i dont want him to be like, "Jack of all but master of none".

Puri under RGV production should do well. RGV's ideas have arty pretensions but they all have potential for essentially massy themes.

yeah kid, all those gr8 films and i still revisit Kaun (mr.bajpai is another factor)...i doubt whether that man will ever do justice to the talent he's got!
@BM, i disagree though...i feel this is the right time for Surya to expand if he has those aspirations in him...tamil BO will take care of itself, he can anytime be back with a goutham flick even if he fades off the radar here!

Puri Jagannath speaks on The Businessman
Oneindia
Monday, May 24, 2010, 12:23 [IST]
Ram Gopal Varma has put his proposed Amitabh Bachchan starrer Buddha: Don’t F…K With Him directed by Telugu cinema’s most successful director Puri Jagannath, on the back burner.
Instead, Varma and Puri are getting together to produce and direct Surya in The Businessman.
Says Puri Jagaanath, “It’s the story of a gangster’s journey from Chennai to Mumbai in three languages. The movie is being made in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.” Puri has written the screenplay on his own. Strangely, none of the three individuals helming the project is fluent in Hindi.
Jagannath, who is the highest-paid director of the South with an enviable track-record of Telugu blockbusters, admits there is a linguistic problem in Hindi.I think we’ll manage quite well.
”The Businessman will start shooting in September. Jagannath, who’s a cult name in Telugu cinema, is relocating to Mumbai to be able to acclimatize himself with Bollywood. Says the softspoken Telugu director, “Many years ago also, I tried to crack the Hindi market with afilmstarring Tusshar Kapoor. That was a disaster. So I see The Businessman as my true beginning in Bollywood.”[/b]

Surya's Businessman - a biopic on a gangster?
Tuesday, June 22, 2010, 12:10 [IST]
Just as filmmakers reveal one-line synopsis of their films, the very next moment, they would be surprised to find hundreds of buzz pertaining to it. Indeed, there have been times where the writer hadn't completed the two page script and was surprised to see some of the media channels revealing the full-fledged story.
Buzz up! As a matter of fact, filmmaker P. Vasu experienced a similar situation with his film Kuselan, when he came across various articles focused on the film's scenes that weren't actually shot. Jocularly commenting over this issue, he said, I must thank those writers, who shared their creative pieces as I felt like really adding them into this script. If situations demand, I'll surely use them in my upcoming schedule.
It's true that most of the Tamil film makers have had similar experiences and Surya's upcoming film Businessman has its own take now.
Ever since the one-liner of this film (a film about a gangster from Chennai becoming a powerful don in Mumbai) was revealed by director Puri Jagannath, there have been a series of self-tailored synopsis buzzing in the airs.
The latest in the bandwagon is that the film is based on one of the powerful gangsters of the late 60s, who had moved from Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu to mumbai

Rightly said. It could happen if you do this at your early/mid stages of carrier....I personally feel he needs to concentrate more on tamil and strong the base.....
