‘Ko’ starts
After clearing all initial heaves and hiccups director K V Anand has started shooting of ‘Ko’ film. The unit is in China for the first schedule with much euphoria from all concerned.
There were some problems as Silambarasan walked out of the film just days before the start of first schedule after refusing to pair opposite Karthika who is playing the heroine. Even before this, Karthika replaced Tamannah who was first signed for the film. Silambarasan even did photo sessions with Karthika before opting out.
But the gutsy K V Anand showed all who is the boss. He refused to replace Karthika this time and instead replaced Silambarasan with Jeeva. Now he feels everything is in order and he will be able to deliver this time too.
Harris Jayaraj scores the music and he is hoping to repeat ‘Ayan’ magic together with K V Anand and his team.

Jiiva starrer Ko in Mongolia
It came as a shock when Silambarasan walked out of K.V. Anand's upcoming Ko recently. Later, Jiiva took up the task. Now the latest we hear is that the shooting of Ko is underway in Mongolia.
S. Kumar and R. Jayaraman of RS Infotainment, who produced Gautham Menon's Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, are producing the film. Karthika, daughter of yesteryear beauty Radha, will be the heroine. The movie is expected be a commercial entertainer on the lines of K.V. Anand's earlier venture Ayan. Sources close to the producer reveal that the title Ko means 'king' in Tamil. Anand will again team up with the writer-duo Subha and Harris Jayaraj for Ko.

Did K.V. Anand’s crew make it to China or not?
Even as K.V. Anand, the cinematographer-turned-director and his crew were about to leave for the People’s Republic of China to shoot for the film ‘Ko’, the film’s lead actor Silambarasan a.k.a. Simbu pulled out of the film barely 24 hours prior to the departure of the crew. Unfazed by Simbu’s walk-out, Anand signed up actor Jeeva to step into Simbu’s shoes and to star opposite newcomer Karthika (daughter of yesteryear heroine Radha).
Simbu reportedly wanted ravishing Tamannaah as the heroine in Karthika’s place. Anand won’t have anything of it and put his foot down and said that he had signed up Karthika as the heroine and that it was final. After announcing the replacement of Simbu by Jeeva, Anand said that the shooting would be commencing in the communist land as per schedule at the pre-planned date.
One thought the crew would have left for China by now but queries revealed that it wasn’t true. For some reason, actor Jeeva’s application for visa was yet to be disposed off by the Chinese Embassy and that’s why the delay. When it was enquired with a member of the Unit, he said that the Unit had been to ‘China, completed the schedule and returned safely.
Who would spill the beans as to whether or not the cast and crew left for China?

Piaa signs KV Anand’s Ko?
Piaa the sensational new girl in Kollywood from Uttar Pradesh strongman Mulayam Singh Yadav’s constituency Ittawa, is making waves.
She was appreciated for her role in Venkat Prabhu’s Goa, which made her hot. The buzz is that director KV Anand is now going to sign her for the second lead in his new film Ko with Jiiva, Karthika and Ajmal.
It is said to be a crucial role, the pivot around which the film revolves. KV Anand when contacted refused to comment, probably because of all the unnecessary controversies surrounding the film, following original hero Simbu’s exit from the film.

Piya also in ‘Ko
K V Anand’s ‘Ko’ can never be out of surprises. From the start, ‘Ko’ is making news at regular intervals. Be it Tamannah replaced by Karthika or Jeeva replacing Silambarasan. Or even the recent controversy over Jeeva denied a visa to China, ‘Ko’ is there everywhere in media,
Now ‘Ko’ is again in the news. K V Anand has signed the ‘Goa’ girl Piya to play the second female lead in the film. Ajmal is the second hero in the film which has Jeeva and Karthika in main leads.
After her first film ‘Poi Solla Porom’ Piya got noticed with Ajith’s ‘Aegan’. But the real break came in Venkat Prabhu’s ‘Goa’. In Goa, Piya is the one of the very few characters you liked at first viewing. Now with another big film under her kitty Piya is sure to make the best of it.

'Ko' in full secrecy
Director K V Anand is working on his 'Ko' film under full secrecy hitherto heard only for Mani Ratnam and Shankar films.
The artistes like Jeeva and Karthika and other technicians have been clearly instructed not to reveal anything about the film to outsiders. K V Anand is compensating for time and money lost due to Jeeva's China visa problems by shooting on war footing at the AVM Studios.
Senior artistes like Jeeva know the reasons to maintain the secrecy before the release of the film but a newcomer like Radha's daughter Karthika? So the director has told her mother Radha also to reiterate to her daughter the need for maintaining a low profile until the right time comes.

KV ANAND WARNS KARTHIKA
March 02, 2010
Home > More news
KV Anand has issued a strict warning to Karthika. The director has instructed the starlet not to disclose the Ko’s storyline to the media. The warning has been issued to all the other stars including Jiiva and Ajmal, as well, but Karthika is given a stern warning because she is a newbie.
But being from a family of actors (Radha’s daughter and Ambika’s neice), the lady would sure know how to dodge questions that would reveal too much!

Harris Jayaraj from Filmfare Awards Nite : Sorry fans.. It's been some 11 months since my last tamil film.. Don't worry.. Here i come with 3 films... Ko, Ich and 7am arivu...

The residents of Mint Street are a delighted lot as the team of Ko, which includes Jiiva, Ajmal, Karthika and Piaa in the lead, headed by its director K V Anand, is busy shooting the climax scene of the film there. Talking about his experience shooting in a street that's bustling with activities, Jiiva says, It's a 21-day schedule and we've already shot for over 15 days. The residents have been very cooperative and give us our space. Also, we shot only during the nights so that we don't end up disturbing them. It was a high voltage action scene and stunt choreographer Peter Haien has done an awesome job. Ajmal and I have given it our best. And Prakah Raj sir, needless to say, has wowed us with his performance.
So, what's Ko about? It is the story of a journalist. Though Ko's not entirely based on a real-life incident, it's definitely inspired by our experiences. Like Shankar and Mani Ratnam's films, Ko is also larger than life, he states. On his director K V Anand and co-stars, Jiiva says, I've seen Anand's Ayan and his visualisation bowled me over. He's a director who knows what he wants for a script.
Karthika has not only inherited the looks from her mother, actress Radha, but also the talent. She has excellent grasping power. Piaa has a bubbly on-screen character and is a bundle of energy on the sets. And Ajmal has an important role in the film. He plays a positive role and is there throughout the film. Prakash Raj sir and Kotta Srinivasa Rao sir play characters with shades of negativity.
After Mint Street, the unit of Ko will be flying to Norway to can a few song sequences.. :P

Taking to World Class Standards
KV Anand introduces new technique [25 August , 2010]
KV Anand is always willing to experiment. He is innovative and daring. The latest we hear is that Anand has used ultra speed Phantom Flex camera to shoot the non stop action scenes in Ko, featuring Jiiva, Karthika and Ajmal.
Says KV Anand : The prototype of the camera has just been introduced, so as a back-up we had the older version of the Phantom-Flex 'Phantom-Gold' ready with us. But our ultra speed camera worked just fine. It's a digital camera and we can view the shot immediately after capturing which is not possible with the other camera's because they are film cameras and we need to process the films to watch the scene.
The only other film in the world that had used similar camera for a shoot was said to be the new James Bond movie which is under production.

Sensational News :

Harris Is A Brand
Harris Jayaraj has become a big brand in Tamil film music.
KV Anand and Sony Music have put him on the cover of their new album Ko.
It is a fantastic boost for Harris as only Ilayaraja and AR Rahman have been able to sell film albums on the strength of their face on the cover.
Normally any album will have its hero or a romantic scene from the film on the cover of the music album.
For some reasons KV Anand and Sony Music thought it would be better to put Harris on the cover than the lead actors Jiiva and newcomer Karthika.
A music industry tracker said: "The first look of a film album when it is put on the shelves in a store is important. A superstar film will be snapped up on the basis of its cover, but nobody will give a second look if the actors are not familiar. Hence Ko team came up with this innovative idea of putting Harris on the cover, which will work big time".

(Rap Portion)

Yeah, Harris been surviving allot on the movie's sucess. Most his movies taste good success in theater, and thus his songs picks up tremendously, despite it being awfully average. All the best wishes for him.

Harris Jayaraj’s hit of the year
Jan 29, 2011
Home > More news
Harris Jayaraj has begun the year
2011 on a successful note! The
music director is happy that his
songs in the KV Anand directed
Ko has turned out to be
chartbusters.
One song in
particular, Ennamo Etho, is mind-
boggling, say music buffs.
This song has been sung by
Aalaap Raju, Prashanthini,
Sricharan, Emcee Jesz and the
lyrics have been penned by Karky,
Emcee Jesz, and Sricharan.
With the song being declared the
hit of the year so soon, now the
entire focus has shifted on the
film and how this song has been
picturised by the
cinematographer-turned-director
KV Anand.

KO Movie Review | Jeeva’s KO Movie Review
http://way2online.com/wp-content/upl...vie-Review.jpg
Film: Ko
Starring: Jeeva, Ajmal Ameer, Karthika Nair, Piaa Bajpai, Prakash Raj, Sona Heiden and others
Director: Anand K V
Producer: Jayaraman
Banner: Red Giant Movies
Music: Harris Jayaraj
Rating: 3.25 /5
KO Story:
The story starts at Dinanjali, a newspaper office where Ashwin (Jeeva), is a photographer while Renu (Karthika) and Saraswathi (Piyaa) are seen as journalists working woth the same newspaper. All three of them try to break the news and stand up on their toes for all getting the latest happenings news. Ashwin’s lens is creative and he captures all well.
Moving forward the next character Vasanth (Ajmal) gets introduced and he is an engineer. Though is an engineer his aim is to become a politician and aspires to change the society. Vasanth plans to contest in the upcoming elections. Ashwin who has good political contacts he makes his friend Ajmal a politician for a good cause. But after turning as a politician Vasanth turns into a corrupted politician like all other politicians and kicks out Ashwin from his camp. Yogi (Prakash Raj) is the Chief Minister of that political party. Vasanth joins his hands with Yogi and forgets to do good for the society. During some unexpected mishap Saro gets killed in a bomb blast. Bu seeing all these Ashwin plans to bring down Vasanth by using the same political contacts. But Vasanth who is annoyed with the chain reactions plans to take revenge on Ashwin. The rest of the story forms the interesting plans of Jeeva with a twist in the story.
Performances:
All the performances by the vital cast are excellent, and equally praiseworthy.
Jeeva stands out as Ashwin and he looked cool stylish, flawless and urbane in his character. Wow! His dialogue delivery and body language are outstanding and brilliant. While performing action and serious scenes he perfectly transformed himself well and brought right dynamism.
Karthika has made her Kollywood debut with KO and has performed her role with ease and élan. She looked beautiful and especially in songs both Jeeva and Karthika looked as a perfect pair. No doubt Karthika will soon make herself to the top list of actresses.
Piaa Bajpai is good in the role of journo and is the right fit. Thanks to director KV Anand for choosing her. Piaa looked simple and stylish.
Ajmal as Vasanth has given equal performance to that of Jeeva. He excelled in his role and proved his mettle once again with KO. He comes up with victory with this film.
Watch out for Prakash Raj’s outstanding performance and one can’t blink his eyes while he is on screens. He is back after a long time with a meaty role and undoubtedly he rocked in his role. Especially during counter sequences with Jeeva deserve great ovation. Waiting for many movies from you Prakash Ji.
Cinematographer – Director K V Anand has made this film with heart and soul as he started his career as a photojournalist. He directed the film in his own pace and also added all real life instances which are engrossing, entertaining and racy. Many movies have appeared on screen of this genre but the director has made a different attempt by showing the media men as demi gods. KV Anand has elevated the human angle of the journalists. In fact Anand has clearly showed the guts, willpower and the passion towards the profession through Ashwin’s character.
Music by Harris Jayaraj is undoubtedly outstanding. He can be termed as one of the hero in KO. He scored smooth and catchy tunes which when viewed with visuals are simply a great eye treat. Especially the locations in Norway are beautiful and one will surely plan for a trip to Land of Rising Sun. Background score is racy and it has along with the proceedings.
The way the film is detailed deserves a great applause and the film is better understood in each and every scene and it makes sure that we are into the movie straight away. Script by Subha is fast and furious. Thanks to him.
Cinematography by Richard Nathan is excellent. He captured the foreign locales exceedingly brilliant. Editing by Anthony is appreciable.
On a whole KO is brave and pacy as the shown in the trailers and promos. One can’t move his eyes from the screens as the film engages the audiences with a well designed story. As confessed by KV Anand, KO is definitely double of Ayan. The film is surely a great entertainer and you will not get bored at any given point of time. Thanks for the entire team for giving a out and out chilling entertainer in this hot summer.
Quick Take: Go Book your Tickets, don’t try to give a miss!

KO
its a commercial film with all(not necessarily good) ingredients...the love portion is a yawn, just to run through the first half..lot of turns and misleading events.. for eg jiiva finding ajmal and karthika chatting..just unwanted..lot of wasted characters like Kota srinivasa rao, prakash raj..just mere card boards..but the movie gains momentum in the second half which is completely dominated by Vasanthan (ajmal)...unexpected twists and crisp climax makes it a good entertainer..
Music--another poor attempt from Harris...cinematography is pretty good by richard..its very lively..
K.V.anand is a shankar wannabe..very evident in the style of screenplay and picturesque songs..finally coming to the performances...karthika good figure but over acting at its best..pia also very irritating..ajmal has done well..his character is the strongest point of KO..and Jiiva has done a cool job..pity that he has not got much to do in the second half..
this film is a fast paced action thriller without much logic and is much better than Anand's prev attempts..so can sit through without fear...

My view points .
1) ROmance in Ko is as necessary as in Ayan - only here , it is not serving as creating the lighter moments before taking the plunge to being a thriller.
2) songs ok - but a song in exotic location after XXX death ?? Unbearable. I could a bigh sigh in ESCAPE .
3) There are references to the first family , naxalites, elections - but not as a preachy one , but comes naturally in the scenes - but the problem is that the sequence of scenes don't tell a story. they just scuttle between heavy and lighter moments , except for the last 20 mins where it tells a story !
4) BGM - just unberable . LOUD.sorry .
5) There is no perspective in the camera angles . It is just shot for good aesthetic sense . of course , not everybody is mysskin here .
6) Is KV anand's style to have an adrelaine fight sequence within the first 15 minutes of his film ? This is no match for ayan , but to an extent , it is understandable . It is about a photographer who fits into the shoes of a 'bit' larger than hero and hence the restrain in the intensity of the fight sequences.
7) Will they ever film the gun fight sequence a bit differently ? . Except for few frames that shows the stillness after the exchange of fire, it was plain bore, except for 5000 frame/sec parts !
8) jeeva is ok - but it required a more serious, bigger hero - even chimbhu would have done it better . surya would have been amazing !

Watched KO..not bad
Similar to Ayan-engaging screenplay and enough twists to sit through the movie
Pluses
-screenplay
-dialogues
-Tammu
-Pia
-Ajmal
Minuses
-bgm
-karthika..she a wild look and cant act..she managed to win the hearts of the porikis in the theaters
Technically, this movie is no where near Ayan

Nice movie - hollywood style - but too many songs. KV Anand proves again that he can do it.
Razor thin story in first half, but the excellent screenplay compensated for it.
2nd half twist caught me by surprise and also explained several "irrelevant" stuff in first half.
Cannot really call it Jeeva's movie as he appeared just a character in the story.
Karthika was good - real exotic look.
Full marks to Kotta Srinivasa Rao and negative marks to Prakash Raj
Harris Jeyaraj, as usual, should be banned from BGM.
What was lacking was humour - even the ayan joker was subdued.
KV Anand is the man!

Director K V Anand tells TOI why his latest film that has Jiiva playing a photojournalist has 'clicked' at the box office
K V Anand, the National Award-winning cinematographer-turned-director, is perhaps one of the most dedicated filmmakers in Kollywood. He, along with scriptwriter Subha, thoroughly researches the subjects that they wish to showcase on screen. And the positive BO result of their latest offering Ko, Anand feels, is due to the fact that they spent a lot of time working on the script. In fact, the director has done just three films — Kana Kandein, Ayan and Ko — in the last six years, primarily because he takes time to finalize the script.
In an exclusive interview to TOI, he says, "Deep down, I'm still a photojournalist as I do a lot of research and investigation on the subject that I'm making into a film. I then sit with Subha to write the final script. Unless I'm completely satisfied with it, I don't start shoot."
Anand says that he worked hard on the script of Ayan, which was based on the lives of people who deal in smuggling of drugs. Similarly, he worked on the script of Ko for over six months and the film is based on incidents that happened during his career as a news photographer. Confesses Anand, "I think I've succeeded because I had a strong script that was based on real-life incidents and mixed it with the essential ingredients of commercial Tamil cinema."
The filmmaker believes in scripts more than star power at the box office. Reveals Anand, "
I had approached three actors before zeroing in on Jiiva for Ko's photojournalist hero. The first hero I approached was a very big star who wanted a salary that was equal to the budget of the film! The second hero I approached, an upcoming star, wanted changes in the script as he felt that there was not enough heroism in the subject. The third actor I went to also wanted some changes in the story. Finally, I chose Jiiva, who believed in the script and did 100 per cent justice to the character he portrayed."
Ask him about Piaa getting a lot of accolades for her role that has a comic streak to it and Anand says, "She went out of her way and gave me immediate dates without even listening to how her character is shaped up."
Music, he feels, plays an important role in any film's success and Ko is no exception. Says he, "Without songs, commercial films cannot be made in India. I follow my role models, Mani Ratnam and Shankar, who have always featured songs in their films that have been widely appreciated. I have struck a great rapport with Harris Jayaraj, who has given outstanding music to my films."
So, what's next for him? "I wrote the script of my next film, Maatran, before Ko, but due to certain date hassles, it had to be pushed. Suriya has a tailor-made role in the film, but it is too early to talk about it as shooting starts only from June. Till then, let me soak in the success of Ko!
Second hero simbu..first and third Ajit-Karthi? Actually simbu started shooting but he quit half way..i think this movie is gona be a superhit..so simbu better luck next time and hopefully vanam does well

Not up to ayan
Movie is not up to AYAN , But is a Decent Entertainer
Missing things which AYAN had...
1. Chemistry between hero & heroine.
2. The friend character killed in Ayan created a great impact but it failed to create same impact while pia's murder.
3. Song visualization was much better in Ayan.
Two things which annoyed me while watching,
1. When Jiva receive SMS about BOMB, he just lifts the blanket of stage, locates & confirms the BOMB( looked comical)
2. Jumping & escaping from KANNI VEEDI.

But the HYPE seems to be little over...

watched it. ya a racy entertainer.
screenplay was good and i din find much of logical holes to crib about.
i kinda sniffed the twist but a very good twist it is.
nothing much on performance wise for anybody in this movie as thats not what the director wanted to display.
was really surprised to find all the election time news which we heard about were caught in the movie.. perfect timing..
money for vote is well captured.. red giant release??? surprising...
two things which were pulling me back as speedbreaker...
1. songs
2. the eyebrows of the weird looking heroine... never thought that curvy can be ugly too... most annoying... wannabe 'Cho'. wish this is the last movie for this heroine... a heroine tailormade to be myskins yellow saree item. can be afternoon tamil serial villi too. simply hate her. and there is a connection. before this the most hated heroine for me was karthika too, karuvaappayaa fame.

Softie
I watched her Interview along with her mother on Jaya TV, she was highly irritated with her fake half baked Tamil accent, she says she was brought up in Mumbai(so what?? ), I have been brought up in UK, I can speak much fluent Tamil than her because I respect my culture and my mother tongue, she being a Mallu (similar to Tamil) spoke mainly in broken English mixed with Tamil, This has become a fashion for Heroines in Tamil Cinema
I have no respect for such kind of people!

Gripping take on politics
http://www.nst.com.my/nst/articles/S...#ixzz1KngWaWgZ
http://www.nst.com.my/articles/Showb...olitics/single
NOW SHOWING: KO (Tamil)
Directed by K.V. Anand
Starring Jeeva, Piaa Bajpai, Karthika Nair, Ajmal Ameer, Prakash Raj, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Sona Heiden, D. Suresh
THIS cinematic venture offers an intelligent look at politics and investigative photo-journalism.
It is directed by cinematographer-turned-director K.V. Anand, the man behind the highest grosser at the Indian box office in 2009, Avan, which starred Surya and Tamanna.
With its gripping storyline, action and music, Ko proves to be yet another winner from Anand.
Fresh from the success of his recent Singam Puli, Jeeva shines in Ko as photojournalist Ashwin, who has two girls vying for his attention — the bubbly Piaa Bajpai and newcomer Karthika Nair, daughter of yesteryear heroine Radha.
Working for an investigative Tamil daily, Ashwin has managed to get a few photo scoops that have brought down robbery gangs and politicians. He even exposed the chief minister at his worst behaviour.
He also helped underdog politician Vasanthan (played by Ajmal Ameer) get publicity that gives him the lead in the state elections.
But a tragedy awaits him as he continues in his crusade to expose evil doings.
The scenes where journalists threatened to walk out of press conferences for alleged disrespect are realistically handled, reflecting the director’s previous experience as a photo-journalist.
Ko shows that not everything is what it seems to be, especially in politics and in the newsroom.
Bajpai (who impressed in Goa) is the live wire in the flick, and she shines in her role. Compared to her, Karthika appears reserved but shows potential with her looks.
Ajmal, who stood out in Anjaathey and Thiru Thiru Thuru Thuru, gets another meaty role here.
The songs were filmed in places such as Harbin in North China (at its freezing best) and in Norway (scenic mountains) by Richard M. Nathan, whose work was last seen in Angadi Theru.
Anand, who won the 1995 National Film Award for Best Cinematography for the Malayalam movie Thenmavin Kombath and filmed hits such as Mudhalvan and Sivaji The Boss, prefers to let others handle the cameras when he’s in the director’s chair.
Ko’s success also rides on composer Harris Jayaraj’s songs, especially Ennamo Yedho and Gala Gala. But sticking to just two of the six songs would have done wonders for the movie’s pacing.
A host of famous stars such as Surya, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Bharath, Shiva and Tamanna appear in one of the club songs.
In one scene, Anand criticises his blockbuster hit Ayan. With such self-deprecation and humour, he’s among a new crop of directors trying to blaze a trail, without neglecting commercial elements or insulting our intelligence.
Ko, an unusual name for a Tamil movie, is also dubbed into Telegu as Rangam.
Where was Ayan mentioned?

Saw the movie. It's a pretty decent Entertainer. What makes k v anand's commercial movies different from other commercial movies is that he does a lot of research for his one line and try to keep it close to reality with minimal cinematic liberties. All the songs by Harris jayaraj are nice but the song placement's ruined it.BGM is adequate.piaa raised some good laughs.Jeeva is simply superb and exactly fits in photographer role.Ajmal too is equally good.Costumes for karthika is good and in some scenes, she really looked gorgeous! The USP of the movie is the fast paced screenplay with lots of twists and turns.

Seen the movie, a good movie, but not a 'Wow' one ! Ajmal and Jeeva performed well, Karthika
mudiyallapa she does not look good at all , ithula Artificial Eyebrows vera
she seems tall and has a large frame, if she does not take care of her self, she will end up like another namitha
The songs also spoilt the movie, the bank robbery scene looked very tacky, BTW do they not have Bullet proof windows in the bank counters? The M18 Claymore Land mine scene also looked amusing, the second you take your feet off M18 Claymore Land mine, you would be blown to pieces, but our hero survives

Saw the film last weekend. I was an average film. though it was good in parts.. there were so many 'இதெல்லாம் நடக்க வாய்ப்பே இல்ல' scenes like Chief minister biding his life to rescue hostages.. ithellam Muthalvan padathulaye vanthurichi..
Action sequences were good like the bike wheeling to take snaps.. and the following chasing sequences.. Song placements were a dampener. 'Amali thumali' song's cinematography was excellent (where is that location ya?). 'Ennamo yetho' was the other song i could remember. mathabadi other songs and bgm 'simbly waste'.. Jeeva did his job.. but felt some one else might have done even better.. Ajmal was good.. just like his performance in Anjathae..
Karthika
wwf rock mathiri eyebrows ah thooki vachikiraanga eppavumae.. ethayo paarthu bayantha effect layae irukkanga padam fulla.. she needs some patti-tinkering.. Pia did her part well.. Prakashraj and Kota Srinivas Rao were good.. it was a relief to me not to hear 'aaye Chellam' from Prakashraj.. It is definatly worth a one time watch..

Wanted watch this movier for quite sometime, managed to watched it on sunday
Better than expected.. Good timepass movie..
Heroes Jeeva and Ajmal, done their part reasonably well,
Rendu heroines..Pia - good choice for that role..
Indha Karthika ammaiyar kitta enna irukku-nnu heroine Akkunainga..
KV Anand might be a fan of Radha..
The screenplay is somewhat different from the regular tamil movies, Good. There is definitely good improvement from his earlier movies.
Song picturization and locations were superb !!

There are a few brilliant scenes. Like how they find out Piaa was actually murdered and how they reveal the twists. And Jeeva just 'filming' all the atrocities happening around him was nice. And the Ajmal-Jeeva twist was nice too. Well written character.
But the problem is there are several illogical, silly, absolutely unnecessary scenes and owing to those, the film falls flat. Jeeva was good, I am not a fan of him but liked him in this film. He was off key in just one scene in the climax in which he confronts Ajmal. Ajmal was decent. And save for them and Jegan horrible acting by everyone involved. And WTF was that heroine? Tamanna is a million times better. Harris should stop composing for films, the most unimaginative composer to enjoy being in the limelight in the history of TFI. Ayan was much much better but this one is certainly better than the average fair, not boring and all that..

Nerd.. overall same pinch..
for the last sentence..
just an hour back finished watching..
i) why directors always try to name a politician in "ilakkiya thanamaana" peyar... Vasanthan PerumaL... Y he can't be named as like, Ravi, Ramu, Siva etc.
ii) Why Ayan was better? It had right mix of entertainment - songs - beautifully etched Romantic scenes - good stunts - racy screenplay .. all together.. & KO misses these..

PattukOttai Prabhakar is also a friend of Suba
I read in one of their old interview (published along with their novel) their friendship with KV Anand & PattukOttai Prabhakar & PP was senior to them in novel world..
I've a doubt, Suba might be involved in KV A's "Kana Kanden"

Finally, watched KO last weekend. Must say that I quite enjoyed it. This is technically the first K.V. Anand's film that I watched til the end...(I only watched Prithviraj's portion in Kana Kanden and have stopped watching Ayan after Vizhi Moodhi song) so can't really make a comparison with his other films.
Jeeva fits the role of the photographer really well, although it's hard to believe that a photographer would go to the extent of capturing the robbers' faces in the manner that he did in the opening scene. Nevertheless, he looks and acts casually, which I think is what the role requires him to do. Simbhu wouldn't have been able to pull the role as well as Jeeva did.
Ajmal is really good. I thought he was good in Anjaathey, but lost hope in him after watching TTTT. But he's back for good with KO. Really enjoyed watching the climax scene where he tries to justify his actions to Jeeva. Definitely a talent to look out for.
Pia is ok, a little irritating but still manage to bring a smile in you in some scenes. Kota was ok but do they really need Prakashraj for the CM role? Thought he was really wasted in this film.
I really don't want to talk about the heroine. They should have disposed her off instead of Pia. At least that would have left many of us happy.
Harris Jeyraj is back again with his lazy man tunes and "heard-before" songs. The only song that stuck to my mind after the movie has ended was Ennamo Edho, and that's all due to the picturisation. The rest of them were just forgetable.
Who's the cinematographer? He did a neat job I must say. Especially in the last fight sequence between Jeeva and Ajmal.
K.V. Anand definitely shows some promises as a director. Dialogues were good-some were definitely cliched but most were good. Jayan's remark to Ajmal- "Un pechu keattu, yerumaike pul arikithu" was unintentionally funny. KV is good at coming up with the right twists and turns in the movie and manage to keep the viewers glued to the story. Nevertheless, too much of relying on twists would not be good either. After knowing about Ajmal's character, I'm quite uncertain whether I would enjoy watching the film for the second time.
Overall, it was an enjoyable film. I liked it

Su.Ba wrote Kana Kanden too. KV Anand started his career as a photographer in a novel called "Ungal Junior" in which Su.Ba were regulars.

Oh yeah, heard about this one- Santosh Sivan acting as Ravi Varma and Karthika as his muse. Ennamo pannungappa
OTOH, heard that someone in Bollywood is interested in remaking KO there...and insisted on having the same heroine

Finally saw the amazing ko and I must say it's really an great amazing film told in the form of commercial cinema. The ending was just really shocking and even the climax scene where the real villain comes it's a total shocker. Kv anand proves that he can make Tamil cinema go the next level by coming up with a political thriller that is mostly devoid of cliches. I was really pleased with the direction and acting throughout the film and thought that of we churn out more films like this in Tamil cinema we will be on cloud 9
the director has captured the climax and ending scene so well that you as the audience actually feel angry at the villain and want to beat him to the pulp for his evil deeds and also for betraying his friends. This film shows the real power of the media upon society and it is a real ode to the Indian journalists as they are the one who are potrayed as true heroes in society in this film. All songs were placed well I really enjoyed when venpaniye , ennamo yedho and ammali thumali came just at the right time when needed during the movie
the whole cast and crew have done a great job from acting to direction to the camera work. Hats of to KV Anand for bringing a realistic story within the commercial format and delivering it to the audience in an entertaining and unpredictable manner
... Expecting more great projects like this
. Rating: 8.5/10
