Idhu onnum pudhusu illai, vichAl, chimpu etc. Nobody has problems because they don't have any fans.
I am not the only one doing the "Suryar" thingi. I did not mean any disrespect to surya, honestly. I just thought it was cool to say that and this is the first occasion I am finding someone taking offense. I will stop.

PR, at the end of the day its Hubbers who will decide on what is acceptable and what is not.
It is highly probable that one fine day someone asks, why do you allow that thread? (Like Nerd did just now) How are we going to justify it? (That he went to that particular thread and made amends (

NOV, I am with P_R on this. A little sense of humour doesnt hurt. As I have mentioned before, I dont have problems if people distort my favourites' name - gamalagaasar or rasinigandhar or ilayaraasar is just fine by me

I must thank Maddy here for not taking offence to the various offensive names I coined for the sagid kappurs and ranbeer kappurs.

Someone shouldn't be ridiculed because he has many supporters - is an excuse worse than the 'crime' itself.
It is my humble observation that while Rajini and Vijay get a lot of ridicule - subtle and not so subtle - in these parts, Ajith and Kamal fare better simply because they are popular here.

Every one is not you, Plum.
Just Imagine that i say i dont have any problem in distorting my name and some one takes advantage and mention Maran as Moron
(It is true, is a different story), i wont take it for easily for sure.
Or say for example... Jivaaji or sivasi might creates hell and lots of trouble. Neenga NT fan thaanae, Neengalae atha respective thread la try panni paarunga enna reaction varuthunnu.. No offense meant for NT and his fans.
Simple it is not in right sense.
As far Suryar which thought this discussion, Suryar under all possibilties looks repective.. But the purpose when initially some one mentioned with that is not in that factor. I did not mean Nerd here.. Long long yaaro ipppadi start pannathu..
P.S : Naanum ithellaam serious aa eduthukkura type illa, the point is we have to look at others. Again reminding naan serious aa eduthukkara type illaingrathukkaaga.. enna Moron aakidaatheenga

Even in the world outside where Rajini and Vijay has more fans than their counterpart, still they get a lot of ridicule
Basically it is not abt having more fans or so. It is abt the ones ridicues think they are superior over the other...
This attitude is with everyone. Rajini and Vijay fans would be mocking at lesser fan actors like Vishal, prashant, simbu etc. Basically no one is perfect

Yes jaaze.
Some of the names here are, like, if you reveal the real name, it will never live up to the "jaazziness" of the nick name here. Jaaze, for instance. Whatever be your real name, it can never match the glitz and style in "jaaze". I, for one, would wish that I never get to know your real name

Ha ha, yes, that one's right on the top of the "my most embarrassing grammatical errors ever" list. (In fact, I've to admit I was reminded of this very incident myself reading NOV's comment.)
But in my defence (and this is really the most important point, and I think ties in to NOV's original argument!), I've made, and continue to make, several grammatical errors that are just as bad if not worse, when I talk/write in English too.
See the point now?

By the way, I responded to this post because I think NOV's point really clinches the matter in all possible ways, and I couldn't agree more with him in this regard. [And incidentally this is the very argument I come up with in my mind oten when I read someone snobbishly refer to how "serious" or "incomprehensible" (or "essay-like") many of my posts are.]
It might not be intuitive to people who're used to reading this kind of stuff only in English, but the language is simply immaterial here. I talk/write in Tamil just the way I do in English. It's not like people find my posts more comprehensible if I switch to Tamil!

Also, my reference to the incomprehensibility of your posts have always been in an ironic way hinting at your second paragraph only. It is another matter that my complaint is more that your posts are rarely essay-type - rather, they are more of precis-type.

I have internally wired myself to cry "peter" at any attempt to obfuscate ignorance and ostentatious display of non-existent knowledge via obfuscation. Language's got nothing to do with my usage of "peter"

yEn edit panninga.
Yes, ennakum
confirmed than. I mean whoever coined 'Peter' had to be contacted. Or, every other interpretation/usage comes off as P_R's deep-felt concern, Intentional fallacy..

PR,
Poem 'nu nAnE summA oru bittu dhAn pOttEn. (First, single quotes 'la dhAn pOttEn, but as someone who has been into post-double quotes school of thought for quite a while, I had my own baggage of inhibitions to do so.)
But bottom line: it doesn't mattaer!

apdiyum mulusa solla mudiyadhu...if a guy has studied in an international school from his childhood - avan naturalave apdithan irupan.
But to guys who belong to a "only itself" background,I think he had to cross the peter mark,to get natural.
yeah.. being a peter is good.
So,defenestration of someone from a clique just beacuse of being a peter is absurd

Vivasaayi/Bala,
But seriously, ivvaLavu kashtap pattu ellAm idhai viLakkath thEvai illainnu ninaikkiREn. In simple words, nobody intends to be a "Peter" (not that doing so is wrong!). The notion of "Peter" is always about "someone else." So the naturalness doesn't come at some arbitrary point, but is always there! (Being natural isn't being correct.

Equa/k-g, 'intention' is at the very core of what we are discussing here.
A Peter is one who is perceived to be intentionally portraying himself as more 'elite' than what he actually he actually is.
I say 'elite' to broaden the the definition. Make it less closely coupled with the usage of the English language.
If he is perceived to be 'naturally' elite then he is excused from the label. The deceptive intention is what it is all about.
PS: Heh heh
