The movie will be the directorial debut of C.S. Amudhan. From the just-released promotional material, one is led to believe that this movie is the ultimate spoof on commercial mass movies that follow the same formula.
Since the movie has quite a formidable political backing, Dayanidhi being the son of MK. Azhagiri, one can rest assured that the movie will make some rather bold statements that take a dig at the kind of movies that are being made today. However, given Kalaignar Karunanidhi’s love and contribution towards cinema, one can also be sure that the fun and jokes will not be too scathing. We also hear that other members of Kalaignar’s family are also involved in the making of this movie.
Whatever be the case, Tamizh Padam promises to be a fun movie, and we wish the team all success.

Director C.S. Amudhan's interview in Anandha Vikatan:

What could be the extremum of laughter? Ever experienced such a feel? Perhaps, ‘Tamizh Padam’ boasts to bring the best on laugh-riot as the film is based on Hollywood’s ‘Hot Shot’ and ‘Scary Movies’ themes. By nature, we had revealed the most happening part of this film few weeks prior.
Now, the film has been shaped towards completion and audio is slated to hit the stores from Christmas Day (Dec 25). The film is produced by Dayanidhi Azhagiri of Cloud Nine Productions and is directed by C.S. Amudhan.
Kannan has scored music for the film with Nirav Shah cranking the camera. RJ turned actor Siva of ‘Chennai 600028’ and ‘Saroja’ fame does the lead role. The film is said to be spoof Tamil actors and films. Today’s advertisements on newspapers have carried the posters of Siva posing as Karthik and Ramki in yesteryear films with their percussion.

Caught the end of the Kalaignar TV interview special. They practically used the heroine as a comedy punch bag! And hope the radio doesn't play the dadaistic duet to death. The crew rightfully thanked Harris and Vijay Antony for their unique linguistic efforts though which was quite hilarious.

I think the reason why they are mocking the above is because they find no meaning when the corresponding stanza totally does not compliment the above.

That could be true. Or perhaps the team may have simply not given much insight to the true meanings of these words.

corresponding stanza not complementing - i think thats pretty much capability of the lyricist - we didnt have a "mustafa" character in kaadhal desam yet that song didnt sound odd......

Kamal Haasan launches tunes for a spoof!
The music
of Tamil Padam, which stars Shiva in the lead role, was launched recently by Kamal Haasan. The film, which is a spoof on Tamil cinema,
Kamal Haasan launching the audio of Tamil Padam

has been directed by C S Amudhan who has an advertising background. Shiva, a popular RJ, was also part of the Chennai 28 gang.
Music for the film is by debutant Kannan, a composer who has done many ad jingles. True to the flavour of the film, the songs too have some spoof elements in them with one number starting with the words Omaha Zeeya... (remember the number in Kaakha Kakkha?)! Cinematography for Tamil Padam is by Nirav Shah.
“One can watch comedy throughout the day,” said Kamal, releasing the album, “But, making a film that has a comic vein running through is a difficult task.”
M S Bhaskar, Vennira Aadai Murthy and Manobala will be playing important roles in this film, which marks the comeback of Kasturi.
My guess was right probably. Mokkai or not, this will be a Chinni-like spoof and not like Vivek's..
And VAM irukkaara????

TAMIL PADAM MUSIC REVIEW
Review by : Malathy Sundaram
Music Director : Kannan
Vocals : Mukesh, Hariharan, Swetha Mohan, Ujjayini, Shankar Mahadevan.
Lyrics : C.S.Amudhan, Chandru, Thiyaru.
This movie, a ‘Why Not’ Production, is distributed by Dhayanidhi Alagiri’s Cloud Nine movies. C.S. Amudhan debuts as a director and the film stars RJ Siva, Disha Pandey, M.S.Bhaskar, Manobala and others. Kannan has scored the music for this movie which is supposed to be a huge spoof on Tamil movies. Of course, with Kalaignar himself around, it cannot be a harsh or satirical film. If the music is any indication, we have a laugh riot on our hands. Let us plunge into the album.
Pacha Manja...
Vocals:Mukesh& chorus
Lyrics: Chandru
Oh, ho, ho, Mukesh deserves a huge pat on the back for carrying off this number which parodies the Tamil film industry heroes in a big, but lighthearted way! ‘pacha, manja, rose, karuppu’, no colour is spared. The chorus at the start, the rap bit, and the tape sounds all add dollops of fun. There is a political tint too in the verses.
O Maha Zeeya...
Vocals: Hariharan, Swetha Mohan
Lyrics: Many current lyricists!!! Seriously, it is C.S.Amudhan, Chandru.
Ha, ha, ha, ha ha!! Just how did Hariharan and Swetha manage to give such a serious air to this rib-tickler? Just listen to this and you’ll know what we mean! But the music is serious business, hovering between Manavathi and Hamsadwani ragas and falling easily on the ears.
Kuthu Vilakku...
Vocals:Ujjayini
Lyrics: Thiyaru
Going by the trend of the earlier songs, this one is also a tongue-in-cheek ‘kutthu’ paattu, but with tasteful beats and delightful inputs from the veena (Rajesh Vaidya playing a bit of Darbari Kanada), dilruba (Saroja) and keyboards. Sweet singing from Ujjayini. Will surely hit the charts if the comic aspect is caught well on screen.
Oru Sooravali...
Vocals: Shankar Mahadevan& chorus
Lyrics: Chandru
Well, oh, well, for Shankar Mahadevan to sing this after his solemn ‘Sambo Siva Sambo’is truly hilarious. He makes merry, so do the electric and bass guitars! Cheeky lyrics!
Theme Music...
One and a half minutes of sheer fun with guitars, trombone and keyboards dancing all over and announcing their comic intentions!
Verdict: ***
What an amusingly memorable debut for Kannan! This album, in spite of being frivolous, pleases you with its neat music. Our best wishes to him. Careful filming can add a lot to the songs. .

The director Amudhan is quite funny, cracks jokes with a straight face.
In one promo Siva was saying how Oh maha zeeya is the first song he is lip-synch'ing and wanted to get the expression right.

Dayanidhi Alagiri’s Cloud Nine’s Tamil Padam is creating waves even before release this Friday.
The film is said to be a spoof on Kollywood and is a rib tickler. The teaser ad campaign of the film in the print media has created a curiosity around it.
As director CS Amudham said: “ Every cliché in Tamil cinema has been spoofed in the film like a comic take on mother sentiments, hero and his friends, falling in love all of a sudden, exaggerated fight scenes and what not. But the underlining thing is its storyline.”
In Hollywood there have been many spoofs on popular movies. Mel Brooks specializes in this genre. ‘Mirchi’ Shiva is the hero of the film, who does all the action and comedy with ease. Mumbai girl Disha Pandey is the heroine and music is by debutant Kannan.
Tamil Padam may look like a small film but the clout of its producer has ensured it gets a big release and may turn out to be the dark horse at the box-office this weekend.

certainly.. atleast for the Next CM Siva , we have to encourage

.. Its about the timing of the comedy (even if its a spoof) and all hollywood spoofs have young guns firing at all paces. Idhula I am a bit reluctant about having Mano, MSB and VAM. I like MSB and VAM separately, but with the combo of Siva, VAM would have to have a jet to match the speed.
even the interview was a bit shaky for Siva.. his comfortness was missing when compared to interviews with the Venkat Prabu team couple of years ago.. paarpom .. Movie is not releasing in UK

so wait for the online or the dvd

Guess, which film is most talked about, among this Friday (Jan 29) releases? It is Cloud Nine Dhayanidhi Alagiri’s Tamil Padam.
It is getting a big star like opening throughout Tamil Nadu! In Chennai city the film is leading the advance booking race, and is ahead of its rival Goa!
Says a manager of a popular multiplex: “We never expected this kind of craze for Tamil Padam, it has been sold out for the weekend. There is a lot of inquiry on this spoof film and its songs are very popular with the masses".
Tamil Padam is likely to take a super opening in Tamil Nadu where it is releasing in nearly 175 screens. All Tamil superstars have asked the producers to hold special shows of the film for them, due to the great buzz around this spoof.

Chrompet Rakesh (Vetri) theatre has big crowd for Tamizh padam like a star movie opening
I thought it will get an average opening and it will pick up but it seems superb opening
but at the same time GOA's tambaram area release is pathetic, it is released in Pallavaram Janatha and the crowd is not as Tamizh padam in Chrompet Rakesh

Sanjeevi, if Tamizh Padam is released in Rakesh(replacing Kutti), whats shown in Vetri? Are they retaining AO?
AO seems to have picked up well

and it is not replaced by new movies in many theatres in Chennai. In many of the multiplexes, Kutti is changed to 1 or 2 shows but AO is still 3-4 shows. In Kamala, Tamizh Padam replaces Vetaikaaran. Thats surprising, considering the fact that VK is a hit and Vijay movies, except Villu have all run > 50 days there.

After ch-28 Ive enjoyed this movie like any thing.
Each and every frame you will laugh like any thing. I have witnessed whoz laughing even after the movie got over.

The second half was a bit slow compared with 1st half but not that bad. Without a story it's veey tough to take a movie, but C.S. Amudhan has done that perfectly, as the scenes next to next has a link. Without a story taking this much itself is great!
Shiva's performance overall was excellent and also his friends Vennira aadai moorthy has been used correctly with his double meaning dialogues. M.S. Bhaskar also excels but Manobala does not have much to do. Heroine has done what was asked to done but not much scope in this movie. The movie's title card starts with Vijay's Badri still and as expected they haven't teased vijay that much, so all vijay fans can enjoy this movie except 5-6 scenes.
Simbhu fans, if you want to watch this movie, please go after 15 mins from the start as Ponnabalam's first dialogue ll surely hurt you. Except that everyone has been equally teased. Ajith was untouched until the climax but one last dialogue is there even for him.
Shiva's Kaadhalan dance and many scenes are highlight. Overall it's awesome when you see this by scenes. But a bit slow when you watch as a movie. Could have been more stronger!
Rating: 3/5.
Must watch for masala movie lovers as they portray how they take masala movies.

This thread would need some spoiler alerts. Such scenes might have a better impact and sound funnier in the theater AND only when heard for the first time. Ingeye ellathayum padicha apparam padam mokkaiyathaan irukkum. This applies for all spoofs.

Tamil Padam
By Moviebuzz
CS Amudhan’s Tamil Padam is a hilarious spoof on Kollywood. Making a spoof on Tamil films is a sensitive issue, as our heroes and industry people are not willing to be criticized. Amudhan’s satirical look at Tamil cinema is a welcome change.
The film works to a large extent because Tamil cinema has more clichés than any other cinema in the world. The director hits out at our larger than life heroes who specialize in mass masala and their cardboard “heroism”. ‘Mirchi’ Shiva as the “ultimate Kollywood super hero” carries the film to its winning post, ably assisted by Nirav Shah’s camera.
Every cliché and formula that makes mass movies has been lampooned in a funny manner that tickles the funny bone. Our hero Shiva (Mirchi Shiva) is born on a rainy day in a village and the new born speaks to his grandmother (Parvai Muniamma) that his dream is to go to Chennai to become a man for all seasons like a typical Tamil film hero. In Chennai, the boy pedals on a cycle and as years pass become a larger than life hero who takes on the scum of the earth and turns into the “friendly neighbourhood guy who gets things done.”
Like all Tamil heroes he goes to college and hangs around with his friends Nakul (MS Bhaskar), Siddharth (Manobala) and Bharath (Venniradai Moorthy) a dig at Tamil cinemas ageing comedians who pretend to be students. Shiva falls in love with a classmate (Disha Pandey), and does everything a regular Tamil hero does to win the heroine in films like Kadhalukku Mariyathai, Mouna Ragam, Mozhi etc. When the heroine’s father says he will not allow his daughter to marry a poor man with no job, Shiva works overtime and becomes a tycoon overnight just like what Rajinikanth did in Annamalai, Padyappa, Sivajietc, etc.
Meanwhile it is revealed that he is an undercover cop who wants to exterminate the criminals in the city. Shiva’s method of eliminating the criminals are far better than what Vijay did in Tirupachi and Pokkiri, Suriya in Ghajini and Khakka Khakka, Vikram in Anniyan and Kamal Hassan in Apoorva Sahodrakal. Even more hilarious is how Shiva goes back to his village in search of his father who abandoned him many years back. And the climax is when he discovers who runs the ‘D’ company is hilarious. On the downside, it gets predictable post interval though the film is only 2 hours and 5 minutes. Pot shots have been taken liberally at Rajinikanth and Vijay while some other superstars have been spared.
Some of the most stupid moments but thoroughly enjoyable are Shiva’s classical dance piece to impress his girl friend, and rip off of many fight scenes (mainly from Vijay films), court scene and the judge in the climax, and popular dialogues of Kamal and Vijaykanth . The director and dialogue writer CS Amudhan’s laughs are spot on, punctuated by the scripts outrageous glossary of over-the-top depiction of Tamil film stereotypes. Nirav Shah’s camera and Kannan’s music mainly the song O Maha Zeeya.. (Harris Jayaraj & Vijay Antony spoof music) makes it a rip-roaring rocker!
Verdict- Rollicking Comedy

One time popular Radio Mirchi RJ Shiva had turned actor with hits like Chennai-28 and Saroja. Now he has hit big time with his latest release Tamil Padam. The full length spoof on Kollywood has taken a fantastic opening on day-one of its release.
On Friday, Shiva went around Chennai theatres gauging the mood of the public. He was mobbed at a couple of places with fans queuing up to congratulate him.
Shiva has been transformed into a star overnight, as his performance in the film has been appreciated.
The scene where he tries to dance like Kamal Hassan in Salangai Oli is getting the maximum claps. The buzz is that the actor has been flooded with offers, and is now seriously looking at becoming another star in the making

Superb film. I was laughing for 3/4 of the film and the guys around me seem to be anti-simbu kootam. Simbu patri yethavethu kalaichaal , "evanakku thevai thaan da" nu whistle adichi kai thattuvaanga.
The film's ending titles had me in splits. Wunt say it here to not spoil the fun. Must go and watch it
BTW response for this film in Singapore is very good, it only has one show and the show was 3/4 full. Not bad for a spoof film.

Knownly or unknownly tamil cinema now is in hands of Sun TV & Mu.Ka. grandchilds. If you see the last 400+ days, can you show me a super hit film other than Sun TV & Mu.Ka. grandchilds?. Even in near future I can't see a promosing film without them. Enthiran & next kamal films too in their hands.
How many days we have to wait for a blockbuster from other productions house?

Ada idhu andha mokkai illappa. Bayangara bore-nu solla vandhen. Most of the scenes were quite drawn out that we lose interest before the punch is delivered (Eg: Sornakka scene). First 20 minutes were sidesplitting, after that, it became little tedious.

there were several 'funny' moments
few 'kadi' moments
few 'chinna pulla thanamana comedy / mokkai' moments
but all in all - the movie was not boring - it was very entertaining and fresh!

Nicely done.. kind of Mega Budjetted Lollu sabha.. But it had several funny moments.
Almost everyone nearby is busy in identifying which scenes belongs to which movies
Few of such funny things..
Naattaama theerpu : inimae evanaachum pattanam pakkam poaneengannaa antha viral aatra thampi padatha 100 times paarkanum
Kalli Paal branded as B.S Kalli paal, suththamanathu sugaathaaramaanathu

Ragavan instinct nnu solli solli ye foreign suththi paarthuttu irukka nee
While raising his legs for few minutes in air before a fight, Shiva voada trousers kizhinji poanatha kaamikirathu
Heroine dad Shiva kitta panakaaranaaga savaal vittuttu , servant kitta coffee order panni avan eduthtuttu vara 5 minutes kulla periyaa aalagi kaaturathu
and so on....

Vikatan praises this movie. I can't wait to watch this movie.

Simply superb!

Absolutely enjoyable!

Fun-filled entertainment!

exhaustive of all abaththams in our cinema- even the meaningless words in songs smartly spoofed in a duet scene!

watched the movie today. Don't know if I was expecting a lot from the movie. Certainly not up to the hype the film has generated. Idhukku 45 mark.. AOku 41ah? I should stop reading Ananda Vikadan from now on.
Very few scenes in the movie were good. Like the hero becoming a business magnate within a coffee preparation time and the spoof on Vijay's crooning skills. Shiva's performance is noteworthy. Avara paarthaalae sirippu varudhu. Otherwise, the film is as good as the hero's father's name.
Lollu sabha was more funnier than this. For people waiting to watch the movie, I would advice them to wait a little longer for the thiruttu vcd/DVD.

our ppl have a lot to learn when it comes to spoofing. since they seem to copy hollywood movies a lot, I'd like to suggest that they watch Mel Brooks and then learn the art of spoofing.
just reenacting a few scenes from notable movies does not spoof a make.
its like watching an extended version of sun tv's top 10.

ended up a guess-which-movie- is-this-from sequence kind of stuff.
complete waste of time.

i saw tamilpadam and i loved it. Super Movie nnu solla mudiyathu but nalla muyarchi - bore adikaama pochu.
goa - i saw till interval. then i stopped watching as i found it boring. perhaps it is just me - i enjoyed chennai28 and saroja and was expecting a similar movie from the gang. Goa is a romantic comedy (with very little comedy) ... bollywood love movie parkara madiri irundichi -- maathi maathi goa pubs, bikini gals, songs idhaye kaatikittu irundhanga..... so therile..... adhanala thaan enakku puidkayalannu.

in fact, one of the goon fellow says " spencerla left eduthukka".. then siva replies " andha pakkam pona one way.. prasads vazhiya pona traffic irukkathu"
IMO, it is NOT a laugh riot... konjam kashtapattu sirikka vendirukku... not very spontaneous except few scenes.. liked the way he tries to kill Delhi ganesh in AS style..

watched this flick yesterday.
like goundamani in some movie nakkalfying kovai sarala n other ladies gushing over the fact that this "aaru" passes through their "ooru" n hence the water is so tasty n all that, "idhellaam oru padam aamaam...idhukku peru spoof aamaaam....dei!"
very few scenes/dialgoues were gud, n most of them were the ones shown in trailers/comedy scenes on tv...! first half was fine, second half....mudiyala....the preclimax n climax sucked bigtime!
i loved the bgm when the hero lying indisposed in the hospital suddenly wakes up and as in many masala films plucks off the tubes n stuff n heads off to counter the villain n the doctor gushes "it's a medical miracle!" n then the bgm goes..."mudiyala....too much....romba overu!"
whoever rated this above Goa needs to have their heads checked i think

...jus' jokin', seriousaa edukkaatheenga...but seriously, Goa is a far better entertainer package than this one, any which way one looks at it!

GOA is big budjetted comparing to TP and accordingly had a wider release. That is all abt it.. Obviously initial week GOA collected lot. Now it is sliding hugely
Whereas TP is consistent from the beginning.. See the current week end collection. TP leads by 15 lakhs. That only tells the whole story. By end of the complete run.. TP might equal might even over take the collections. Considering budjet,etc.. TP is a much bigger hit than GOA. That is all abt it

appdi na, inge CBEla TP was relegated to two mini theaters by the 2nd week of release, and Goa which released in 4 theaters here still has 3 major theaters here, so? I have watched almost all episodes repeatedly including epic mokkais like 'Budhan's thirai pOrvai', etc. on TV and online also.. episodes like Bakery, idhudhaanda foolish, pinjile pazhuthathu, etc. (None of which have santhanam.. can't remember any episode with santhanam except ghillli... anyone?) are real funny!!
The thing is, even when everything was predictable in TP, it was interesting.. even if there was an element of surprise in Goa, it was pathetic! VP missed his execution, that which he gave in C28. Saroja itself was 'not bad'... twist ellam easily guessable only...

Friday Fury turns into agony!
Kollywood’s anticipated rush hour in February has not materialized.
From seven weekends in 2010, 21 films have released. Suddenly the brake has been applied this Friday (Feb 19), as there is not even a single Tamil release this weekend!
Most of the films released this year has turned out to be disasters, with only Tamil Padam turning out to be profitable for all concerned (producer, distributor, theatre). The theatres who paid MG’s are the losers, as the films failed to deliver at the box-office.
The small movies with no proper release strategy got butchered, trying to release along with big films. Now everybody has got cold feet, that this Friday is going to go waste as there are no new Tamil releases.
All the big producers have also reshuffled their release dates. Red Giant is likely to get a big solo release on February 26 for their Gautham Menon’s Vinnayithaandi Varuvaayaa.
As of now Friday as per trade sources, March 5 will see the release of three films Meera Kathiravan’s Aval Peyar Tamilarasi, Bharath’s Thambikku Intha Ooru and Jiiva’s Kacheri Arambam.

As far as collections are concerned, you only have the figures for Chennai. Overall Goa collected more than TP in Chennai, meaning more ppl watched Goa than TP. (I am not talking abt production cost here.)
In Malaysia too, Goa had better screenings and attendance than TP.
Same goes for Coimbatore.
So, whats your basis for saying more ppl enjoyed TA compared with Goa?

the hero whud be a vethu vettu guy who only can deliver nothing other than punchu dialogs. shiva is nice fit for that. its not a spl talent of his, but i think there are not many ppl like him. in ch-28 gang itself only he fits this role.

Atlast saw the movie. The movie was okay. It could have been lot better.
Pros:
First real try in spoof.
Some of the scenes were very funny.
Songs were well written for spoof.
This movie may yield ways for other genuine spoofs.
Cons:
Tried to insert all movies in one single movie was overwhelming.
Script writer is not well versed for spoof writing.
Some scenes were hardly funny.
In hollywood when they make spoof they concentrate on only one movie and each scenes will be spoofed with good dialogue and acting. Here the problem is writer and director, who really lacked creativity and vision for a spoof. Good luck next time.
One more thing I really found funny was, Like TR explains the songs through sets, in this movie the explain the situations with conversations. That was really amateurish.

so if he just acts honestly to the script it will turn into a spoof.

Didnt even know about this movie, until some childhood friends had recommended I see this, mainly cos the director Amudhan is one among them. Just the first scene itself made me feel this was going to rip Rajini's stereotypes apart, and though as a fan, I was questioning myself if I should continue through the movie.
But then it struck in one interview when MJ was questioned about Weird Al's making a career out of spoofing his songs, MJ had replied, it's an honor that someone can actually spoof you. Continued to watch the movie with that spirit, and absolutely enjoyed it! One of my favorite scenes is when he runs in the subway just before the Interval, just like Maddy does in the movie RUN, turns back, and fixes his mole and deceives everyone that he's someone else!

Thamizh Padam -
Full marks to debutant (?) director Amudhan for making a very clever spoof. It is a very "clever" yet funny commentary on the absurdities that doesn't cease to exist in Tamil cinema for decades together. In the past, spoofs have come in bits and pieces via comedy track hitting a specific target. But making a full fledged movie out of it is new/rare to Tamil cinema. "Thamizh Padam" works big time because eventhough it takes potshots they aren't cheap. And it hasn't targetted anyone/group in particular but has rather taken a holistic approach hitting both the "mass" and the "class" movies alike.
Siva was brilliant. He was neither too serious nor overtly funny. Even if he had tilted a little bit on either side, it could have screwed up Amudhan's commentary. Very good job from Siva.
Amudhan - a job well done.

Amudhan - a job well done.

well said

Totally agree. Other than the songs / music, the execution part is totally hopeless (though the conceptualisation has some sparks of brilliance here and there, like shivA mortuary & EB / golden globe / arachcha sandhanam / ftv-Fathima / ramanA mannippu etc).
The hero is the biggest culprit (hopeless) and rest of the actors are likewise (the only decent performance was by the heroini 's father character)
The director has some sparks but should search out for capable performers. Also, should have focussed on general cliches rather than specifics which gets too boring when the original is unknown (reason why my son slept within a short time).
On an urgent basis, the director has to watch 'vAn pOlE vaNNam koNdu vandhAi bhoopAlanE'.
Q : Didn't D Azhagiri realize that he was spoofing his thAththA and not cinema when showing 'shivA EB / rly station etc'?

Question is how old is ur son?
I thought shiva was apt for this role. He has no expression but still oozes laughter.

Thats the whole point. The movie worked to a certain extent mostly because of Siva.

17 - he has seen many but not all the originals (me too not seen all the originals, spanned too much time period too). In any case, one cannot expect people to have seen 100 movies to understand the comedies
The lead actor killed the whole enthu - I can't understand how a stone-like fellow can "ooze" laughter - unless the situations are extremely hilarious or he has extreme "make over". For spoofing, IMO, you need to imitate / over imitate / or do diagonally opposite of the original , very sincerely (definitely not play down).
Here we have a dull, boring, stone playing the lead role and killed whatever hardwork the director & co had done
BTW, I have no bias for / against the hero.

hmmm...

Though I didn't feel the movie was boring - I do understand if folks found this movie to be boring/mokkai. My wife can't relate to this movie one bit because her knowledge on Tamil cinema is just a little more that Zero. That's why I didn't even bother to watch with her.
OTOH, padam execution waste-nu solluradhu kojam over. Padam bore-uhh nu sollunge, ottukurom!

Specifics-kku pogAma, seneral cliches vechu padam eduthA - idhu spoof padam-uhh illa "serious" Sam Anderson padam-uhh?-nu janangalukku dovut vaRadha?
Haaallywood spoof's is relatively easy to have it funny - they always pick the easy target's (i.e. either Sci-fi or horrow flicks). Tamil-le indhe rendu genre-um almost non existent. So, "heroism", "sentiment", "abatham" indhe maadhiri parameters vechu thaan kaamedy panna mudiyun, illeengala?

The only redeeming factor for this blade film is the kero Shiva
All spoofs are blade (esp hollywood) except some episodes of lollu saba.
The thing going against most spoofs is time - build up and punch, repetition and lack of the surprise element. I envy (seriously, not sarcastic) people who find such elaborate laborious exercises in spoofs or other forms of humor funny

The biggest failure of the movie were specific spoofs. As one can see, the ones that got the best mileage were the ones that took on the generic tropes like the time-wheel, rapacious villain taking advantage of a youngster of opposite sex etc.
The anniyan take-offs, Apoorva sagodharargaL take-off were all not only mokkai but also, without the context, simply unfunny. At the best a mild smile elicited- idhukku ivLO kasthapattu specific padangaLA invoke paNNanumA?
The failure to rise above Philips Top 10 set-up and tropes is the biggest drawback of the movie.

From what I heard, the team approached vinuchakravarthy for kuthu viLakku song and due to the date problem he disagreed. This probably makes you feel better.

Yes. Its indeed 'Ratchikka'. But the way the singer sings, it sounds like 'Rasikka'.
Of course its way better than Udit Narayan's 'Periammavin pennai rasikkalaam, thappillae' part..
