Chandramukhi was mostly over acting and that smile destroyed the whole mood of the character. Instead of making it a scary character it was more like a comedy show for me atleast. See Manichitrathazhu to see how it was done by Shobana.

I would say Jo acted much better in Kaaka Kaaka and Dum dum dum.

Top 10 heroines of Kollywood today

Till some years back, there was this belief that an actress had to act opposite both Rajini and Kamal if she wanted to be considered as a top ranked artiste. Only then the actress was accorded the distinction of the numero uno position. For example, take the case of Kushboo or Gauthami. Both were able to get the number one status only after pairing with Rajini and Kamal.

It was Sukanya who broke the trend. She had already reached the top, notching up several hits along the way, before she got a chance to act with Kamal in Mahanadhi. And she has not got a chance to act with Rajini so far.
Now such concepts of star pairs don�t seem to work anymore. As a heroine, if you�re able to pull off two block busters successively, then you get the coveted status of number one.

Over the years the expectations regarding the rankings of heroines among fans have been changing and responding to these trends, the rankings too vary regularly. If you remember, the rotund Khusboo was the number one once, and within a few years, it was a svelte Simran who got that status.

And heroine's shelf life in Tamil cinema generally is not long - it is should be somewhere between 4 to 5 years. Especially when you consider that more and more producers are opting for newcomers and each new day you hear reports of new movies with fresh faces.

There was a time the Kollywood circuit was full of aspirants from the North. Now the North Indian imports have almost come down to a trickle and of late, we are witnessing an increased activity of cross-border infiltration from Kerala. First it was Meera Jasmine, then came Gopika, Asin, Nayantara and Mamtha and now, there is no sign of stopping.

With competition so hotting up, the females stars today are in an unenviable position unlike the stars of yesteryears. Heroines like Padmini, Savitri, K R Vijaya, Jayachitra, Sujatha, Sridevi, sometime or other, had a chance to be the number one in the industry and they were able to guard that position for some time.

But, it is no longer easy for the present set of heroines. One flop can start the decline of a heroine and a couple of them can definitely mark the change of your fortunes.

These are challenging and highly fickle times for the heroines concerned but these are also highly satisfying for the industry watchers. Never has the race for the top position been more intense, and never has the choice of heroines been more varied.

Sneha's name has been repeated in Behindwoods' ranking. Personally, I hate this ranking. Trisha can never be Number 1 in Kollywood as she has not given a single proper movie for the past year. Furthermore, good actresses like Pooja, Sandya and Sadha are not in the list. To make things worse, Gopika is in the list. Therefore, I feel that this a hopeless ranking!

lai la was really good....but i don't know why she didn't become soo famous like the others i guess its cos she's always laughing like a loosu

but her pithamaghan was the besttttt, and its the best role any actress has done in tamil films....as far as i know even chandramukhi....it was realllyyy good, but i thought lai la's pithamaghan was more funny and entertaining....especially when she jumps onto suryas back.....when she's chasing him with the police.....then surya runs with her on his back

but asin is the best right now...simran and jo are too old....

2day on the way to the temple me and my sis were watching kushi songs....jothika looks sooooo pretty, quite chubby but i think she'd look awful if she was slim

ya me and my sis have watched chandramukhi more than 10 times....., and me, my sis, and my cousins have watched the climax scene the laklaklaklaka one more than 20 times...i dressed my sis as chandramukhi...and took a video...i made her dance for the song raa raa and she was wearing a yellow...orange red paavadai...like chandramukhi in the film......

and we put loadssssssssss of make up on her and smudged her eye liner... she did very gd for dancing for the song since she's watched tht song so many times...without any fear...so she copied all jo's dance movements i should upload tht video onto youtube.com

Actually, Sadhya is the best! She really has talent and potential. Its just that there is not much demmand for her in the market.

Um yes it adds to her million dollar smile...but in terms of acting and beauty in general she is amazing...very natural, one of the best actresses...unfortunately involved in too much personal controversy

I dont think she is eagerly waiting for some other language movies to get success and wanted to act in that.

An actress at the most can select roles at the most, have atleast some importance(few dances and some scenes) for them. And she is doing well in that along with some good performance.. That is more than enough for a heroine.

i already mentioned abt heroine's doing the kind of role.. For heroine's it does not matter what the kind of movies they chose, whether it is remake or original...as long as they get few songs and some scenes that is more than enough if they could satify the fans..

however they dont have any rights on deciding the story and choosing the directors like the hero has....

u can say she can stop acting in those movies. Then she will get movies once in a year only and will be forgotten easily by fans...
