Recently, we can notice that small 'puthumaga' films with low commercial aspects are doing very well. These movies have no major actors or actresse, not very famous directors, not very popular music directors. Discuss these movies here.

My list:

Chiteram Paesuthadi

Thiruttu Payalae

Sandakozhi and Kanda naal Mudhal (I am not too sure about these though)

Kaadhal

Arindum Ariyamalum (mainly only had Yuvan's music..new director and actor and actresses)

CP and Kanda Naal Muthal were directed by debutants..

Kaadhal by Balaji Sakthivel (His first film Samurai)

Arindhum Ariyamalum by Vishnuvardan (His first film (Kurumbu)

Sandakozhi is directed by Lingusamy.. (Anandham, Run, Ji)

I will put my views like this

Currently the audience can be splitted into these groups

1) Masses - these people are the largest group of the audience and they love entertainers or any special aspect of a film

2) Movie critics - These people will look at the storys narration.screenplay and all the aspects of the movie to decide its quality

3) Family audience - the highest supporters of sentiments and movies that carry social,family messages or they are entertainers which are not vulgar like chandramukhi and also comedy movies.

Currently the masses have the ability to raise a film due to some hardcore fans inside them too like vijay,ajith rajini fans....but if the reason why such films with good storylines are winning the box office war is due to the masses slightly changing their opinion to support entertainers that are not insensible and must be abit logical.
Also there has been a rise in family audiences after chandramukhis success and their support to movies with good script also paid dividends to such movies with good stroylines coming prominently into the boxoffice.

This is my view and people with a deeper understanding of the box office and cinema audience can correct me.

Yeah small films are dominating because superstars are making absolute craps.

another poove unakaaga in azhagaai irrukiraai bayamaa irruku..

some scene were really gud but only some.

some of touchy dialogues.

oru thappaana trainla yeritom athukaaga thappaana ooruku porathilla
naduvazhila station erangidrom.. angaiye ninudrathilla..
namma train pudichi ooruku poyeeduvom.

athey maathiri thaan, namma virumbira ponnu vera yaaraiyo virumbura.. athukaaga avaliye nenaichikittu irrukamudiyuma.. nammala virumbura oru ponna kalyanam pannikarathu thaan vaazhkai.

ovovuru kettimela saththathilum oru love voda azhuga saththam irrukum..

bharath acting in climax was really gud..

But I believe this pudhumuga success is a healthy change in tamil industry. how long we'll watch the same faces, same style, same trend

I actually believe the different narration and good script of the movies that make the difference and of course the performance front also puts up a good show. I also remember movies with good scripts flushed down the drain due to the bad performance of some new faces.

well it happens...right....

just like mass stars have bad performances/movies....'unheard of' films have good times and bad times because of performance, story, songs, etc.

Yeaps...and if the song is extremely catchy the movies can become a hit..e.g karagattakaran due to manguyilae and ooru vittu ooru vanthu and now chithiram pesuthadi due to vazha meenu

in arinthum ariyamalum the story was quite simple.. village boy bit innocent (intelligent) goes to chennai where its loud , higher crime rate and etc.

nowadays there are new ideas and fresh talents.

there is no need of a big actor/director/actress/music director
to make the film a hit

from my opinion , with good storyline and acting , even with unknown actors , the film will be enjoyable!

I don't know if many people saw AIBI - Azhagai Irukkirai Bayamai Irukkirathu...there really wasn't much talk about it in the hub I don't think...

I saw it yesterday randomly and I've got to say that it was a great film. Like most reviews say, I think it will appeal mostly to only the urban audience....

It's basically a rehashed story of setting up one w/ ones lover but there is a fantastic twist coupled with awesome acting by everyone in the cast, especially the lead pair.

When I saw this "bubbly" Mallika Kapoor, I honestly thought this was going to be another North Indian girl who couldn't act for beans. But she was the surprise package...She was absolutely brilliant as the animate Jo and her acting belied the fact that she was a debutante. Bharath as usual excelled as the youthful Mano. These two had perfect on-screen chemistry...

I also loved Arun Vijayakumar...I like him for some reason and feel that he is a great actor who just needs a lucky break.

The songs are just ok, but this is a fun yet practical film that i feel people should check out even though it's a flop and is kinda of forgotten I guess. AIBI all the way!!!
