Good director but flop movie

If a famous director directs a movie, there are very little chances of it flopping. Very such movies have flopped. An example would be Athu Oru Kana Kaalam directed by Balu Mahendra. What other movies with good directors have flopped? Your views?

Joe, for both these movies SK was not the man who was doing the direction.

IN baba, he was a mere director adhering to the screenplay provided by RK..

I think the same applies with aalavandan too.

If flop movie means

Balachander --poikkal kudhirai,achamillai,achamillai,unnal mudiyum thambi, parthale paravasam and some more moives.

Bharathi raja--Nizalhal,kodi parakkudhu,and so many movies.

Bhagyaraj -- Thavani kanavuhal, chinna veedu,vettiya madichu kattu and some more movies.

Balu mahendra--- veedu,Jayraman and saritha movie(name forgot),adhu oru kana kaalam and some more movies.

Mani ratnam --- pahal nilavu,thiruda thiruda,iruvar,Aaida ezhuthu,Madavan and simran movie(name forgot)

Fazil-- En pommu kutti ammavukku,Kannukkul nilavu and srikanth and sonia movie(name forgot).

Thiruda Thiruda ran rajaram sir...and kannathil muthamittal had a decent run....the saritha movie was julie ganapathy.

What abt saravanna subbiah?..he was a good director and his citizen and ABCD witnessed bad runs despite their powerful storylines.

Kamalhassan's Heyram was another flop movie which was very harsh

Bakyaraj's Chinna veedu & Davani Kanavugal were considered hits..his flops should include Rudra,Avasara police 100 and so on.Not sure if his oru kai oosai and thooral ninu poochu were hits.

I think Rudra is not a flop.

selva sir...Kadhal Virus had a good storyline and screenplay...so it is natural to assume kadhir is a good director..it mainly flopped due to new faces.

You should not judge a director only with those parameters. If that is the case, then several people recycling the old love stories with grace music from IR & ARR should be hailed like KATHIR too

The fact is: IDAYAM WAS GOOD . After that , he recycled that again and again with some hit songs and sounded like SARAJKUMAR

He is not a good director. But he is an ordinary director who knows how to remake love stories.

Hey.. Iyarkai was not a flop. It produced profit for the distributors and others as well due to low budget

ofcourse.. compared to perarasu, any director in the industry would be a good director

Selva sir...it was reported Iyarkai ran badly in the theaters despite being critically acclaimed..and also won national award for jananathan i believe...Onnu sify and movieuzz box office reportai namba kudaathu..ellei naanae theaterku poi report yedukkunum.

Director name is Gana Rajasekar. He is the IAS officer.apart from that movie he directed Mugham and Bharati.

Bhagyaraj only acted in ruthra and AP 100.

CV and DK were flop movies. because those movies released after MM's huge success. that time both He and Rajendar were super stars. so the expectation was high. but CV and DK failed very badly.

Thooral ninnu pochu was one of the block buster movies.

In Madurai it ran 100 days in thangam theatre(biggest theatre in Asia.seat capacity is 2000)

Ruthra is not directed by Bagyaraj,ofcourse ,But Avarasa police 100 is directed by K.Bagyaraj ,except few scenes of MGR taken from incompleted 'Anna nee en Deivam' directed by Shreedar.

Sasi Ganeshan - Five Star & Virumbugirean. Last one mentioned was a different treat, but the delay could have been the reason for its failure.
