Shankar richly deserves accolades for having presented Rajini refreshingly young ! That homework on his old hair style ( of the 70s Rajini ) was really a job very well done .
Note, the Adhiradee song could have become a disaster if Rajini’s looks appear older. One of the key elements of success of Sivaji is Shankar’s novel way of showing Rajini

When the songs in arunachalam were average, they blamed deva (even though rajini chose the tunes).
They blamed suresh krishna for baba.
They praised rajini only for padayappa's success (coveniently forgetting ramya krishnan).
Ditto for CM (jo was sidelined). Only shanker mentioned abt it in the 200 days function.
For the 1st time. rajini fans have given credit to the director (atleast for the songs).

I read in one interview / speech by IR long back that Rajini used to give the MD complete freedom (unlike Kamal) ...In Shivaji's case too, I doubt whether there was much input from Rajinikanth to Shankar / ARR...the songs testify more to director/MD alliance than Rajini's personal tips / influence...(I mean the audio part..agreed there would have been mental pressure for them because of the Rajini factor, but there appears to be hardly any direct influence by the person himself...it would have been as phenomenal as now...hero won't matter...even if it had been Prashanth or Arjun, IMO...except very minor changes, like, no forced SPB number for sentimental reasons etc.)...

And I don't think all of Rajini movies by IR had album full of great songs as in the case of dhaLapathi (selection should have been by MR in this case). Agreed, movies like aduththa vArisu had phenomenal, very futuristic numbers, but we also had pANdiyans & uzhaippALee's with very average numbers. And there were many IR albums for Rajini with one or two great songs and rest average or even below average...(like padikkAdhavan, vElaikkAran etc.) It wasn't unusual to have the great thenmadhurai & muthamizh kaviyE along with lacklustre yAru yAru indhakkizhavan yAru in the same album...

Bottomline - give credit where due. Shivaji's songs are great primarily due to ARR's talents along with his having the pulse of the current "in-things" + Shankar being very savvy to ultramodern music (from TN context).
Rajinikanth factor is definitely there in ensuring greater popularity than any prior ARR/Shankar combo - that is in ensuring a much greater reach of the album in patti-thotti's, where ennavaLE or poovukkuL oLindhirukkum would have found it difficult to penetrate...

I didn't say anywhere that it is conclusive evidence. It is only my hope. Now you sound more like a consistent vaiyitherichal party ( in more than a few threads)...

Rajni musings
By Moviebuzz
Sunday, 23 December , 2007, 11:08
2007 will go down as a landmark year for Rajnikanth as it once again ascertained the fact that he is still the emperor of Tamil box-office with his Sivaji. What is the superstar’s next move? Will he start a new film in 2008? Recently he did a two day shoot for daughter Soundarya’s animation film Sultan-The warrior in a Chennai studio. As usual it was a hush-hush affair, with hardly any details getting leaked out.
Meanwhile the grapevine has it that he has refused to play the character role of Ravana in a corporate companies Rs 120 crore mega epic film Ramayan to be produced in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, with the launch fixed on January 11, 2008. He was offered his market rate, but the actor’s cryptic reply was- “I’m still playing the hero’s role, and I have no interest in moving over to character roles.”
It means clearly the 57-year old superstar will continue with his unique formula mass masala movies in Tamil. He wants to be the first super hero in Indian cinema who will never switch over to character roles and probably play the “Hero” till he fades away!
A source close to Rajnikanth pointed out: “ At the end of the day it is how good you look on big screen. Age cannot wither away the Rajni magic; he still has terrific screen magnetism to attract the youth audiences some of them who were not born when he became a superstar in early 80’s.”
Action hero’s worldwide survive more at the top than romantic actors. Arnold Schwarzenegger ruled Hollywood till the age of 60 and retired after he became governor of California. And now most popular action hero ever Sylvester Stallone at 63 is creating waves as his high-octane action adventure movie Rambo-4 is releasing big worldwide on January 25! If Stallone at 63 is still hot at the box-office, well Rajni is a Payyan at 57 and will continue to be the lord of Tamil cinema.
The latest buzz doing the rounds is that Rajnikanth will not have a release in 2008, but will start a new film towards the end of the year. His phenomenal success has been linked to his decision to do only one film in two years, which makes the audiences crave for him. Reliance Adlabs has confirmed that Sultan is likely to release only for Pongal 2009, as there is so much graphic and animation work in the film.
At the same time Sultan is an animation film using the stars face and his voice. So what about a full length mass Rajnikanth film? He has approved two scripts in principal one by veteran director K.S Ravi Kumar and the other by A.R Murgadoss. The superstar himself will take the final call soon on who among the two will get the green signal.

yea, rajini fans claim that at one point,
sivaji was having 48% and CDI 42%.. but suddenly the percentages got swapped.. within a few seconds CDI got 48% and sivaji 42%..
PS: the stupidity of the poll and rajini fans' request to all tamilians to vote for sivaji is not the issue here.. i just want to report that CNN-IBN might have cheated rajini fans..

I am a rajini fan, but i did not know about this poll.. and i did not vote...
that poll can be taken as a valid one only if a winner can be decided only if everyone is aware of the voting, and if everyone votes...
and there was another polling conducted by ndtv or headlines today before the movie release, asking who is the superstar of india... for which rajini got 72% and amitabh got 28%...
i am not agreeing even this results... as by then, it would have been many rajini fans voted for this, and most of amitabhs fan did not participate...
these voting and polls are conducted just for moneymaking, and we need to care for this... neither we should feel happy not sad... just read the news and go forward....

Rajni enacts the role of an NRI millionaire who returns to India to

Nayanthara has signed up a film with Balakrishna, to be directed by Gunasekhar (titled Sadhu?) and produced by Bellamkonde Suresh. The film will start rolling by April. It will be Balayya's next film after Okka Magadu.
This time, Gunasekhar is going to make a commercial mass masala entertainer. Last week before going on a holiday to Hongkong, Nayanthara signed on the dotted line. And the biggest news according to sources close to the producer is that Nayan was paid a whopping Rs 1 Crore for the film. This is perhaps the highest salary ever paid to a heroine in Telugu!
The actress is riding high after her Thulasi in Telugu and Billa in Tamil became the top grossers of 2007. Nayan who was very busy throughout the last year decided to take a break from work and is currently holidaying in Hongkong with close friends.

Economic Times Report
(2007-12-30)
Economic Times says that the Boss has crossed over 180 crores so far. It says that the cost of the movie was 80 crores. This must be including Superstar's salary. Just imagine : Do you beleive that ANY OTHER MOVIE with ANY OTHER STAR would be made for the cost just more than half of this cost and and gross above than that? Even it couldn't be imagined. But Superstar made it possible.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<Chennai-based AVM Studios spent Rs 80 crore in making Tamil blockbuster Sivaji: The Boss, one of the most expensive Indian movies, which was released in June this year and went on to become a huge hit, grossing more than Rs 180 crore. Reliance Entertainment' s move to join the regional film bandwagon could have been prompted by the success of Sivaji, which ran to packed houses even in Delhi and Mumbai.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

It was the same India Today which raised doubts about the BOSS when the movie was in its 8th or 9th week. Hope they have conclusive evidence for the figures now..
I think the tamil I.T version reported the losses in south TN only. Couldn't recollect the Business today articles. But I think the reports were mutually exclusive and concluded in their own way based on the samples they had. Correct me if I am wrong.

http://in.rediff.com/movies/2008/jan/02robot.htm
The Boss of the Box-Office will soon be back. Months after Sivaji The Boss set the cash registers ringing worldwide, Tamil superstar Rajnikanth [Images] is teaming up with the out-of-the-box director Shankar again.
If top industry sources are to be believed, Shankar will work with Rajnikanth in Robot, which was planned to be shot with Shah Rukh Khan in the lead and as producer. But the project apparently did not work out owing to 'creative differences', with Shah Rukh himself confirming the separation. Later, it was reported that Shankar approached Aamir Khan [Images] for the role.
Though the film's thread is not confirmed, the name 'Robot' and widely-speculated media reports suggest the story is about a maverick scientist who creates a robot and later runs into trouble with his pet creation.
When the movie does hit the screen, Shankar, known for his expertise in state-of-the-art film-making technique, could thrill filmgoers, especially Rajnikanth fans wordwide. Film buffs and Rajnikanth fans say if the duo team up again, it could be "explosive".
Sources say a top production house in Mumbai will produce the film, in what could be the most expensive film ever made in India. If Sivaji was shot for a whopping Rs 80 crore (Rs 800 million), the new film is expected to cost more than Rs 100 crore (Rs 1 billion).
According to sources, Shankar has held discussions with the Mumbai production house, which has shown a keen interest in the film with Rajnikanth, the highest-paid actor in the country.
Interestingly, a search on 'Robot-Shanker-film' throws up many actors' names as the heroes of this dream project -- the latest being Ajith of Billa fame in the lead.
When official confirmation comes that Rajnikanth will star in the Shankar film, remember you read it on rediff.com first!

Superstar sweeps print media for Year Ender 2007!!
Struck by the ROBOT wave, don't ignore this Sivaji Tsunami which hit media on year end 2007.
Boss is No.1 of all
Almost all magazines and newspapers which featured Flash back of 2007 and also year end specials have unanimously selected Sivaji as the movie of the year and also pointed out that the Boss is No.1 of all both in collections and also in making news.
Swept awayby this wave
The negative talks which cropped up here and there just because of jealous (vaitherichal) has been swept away by this wave at the year end. Surely it has pushed all vaitherichal parties spell bound.
In the following link we have uploaded all newspaper scannings which featured about Sivaji and its stupendous success.
A compilation of print media coverage
Please visit the following url and open each and every images and read that. For your ease we have highlighted the portion which speaks about Superstar and Sivaji in each scanning.
Particularly don't miss Dinamalar link which reads"Sivaji's world record" in that they have mentioned that a Separate book on making of Sivaji with inputs from Superstar, Shankar and technicians is underway and to hit the stands soon.

Couple of important/exciting points:
1. Kalaingar affirms that Rajini is the perfect example of rags to riches. He has read Rajini's life history on a number of occassions and he is absolutely mesmerized by Rajini's growth.
2. As VM has rightly said in his lyrics, Rajini has crossed all the *stars* and he is near the sun now
The article is way too long.. can't translate the whole thing

SS in his speech heaped praises for Shankar, to such an extent that after KB he found Shankar to have that commanding power to get things done in the way he wants(???). He did confirm about his guest appearance in P.Vasu's film, followed by Sultan the warrior & offcourse ROBOT. Needless to say that SS drew big roars of applause (whistles & claps) whenever he was referred by anyone in their speech.
Shankar said, that due to the proposed huge budget of ROBOT he felt doing it in Tamil would not make the desired results........But the roaring success of Sivaji has given him the ample confidence of doing it in Tamil ....
There were shields for SS, Shankar & AVM by the distributors association (maybe it was from the Chettiar's wing???).

What I said is for ex in my home town kumbakonam Sivaji crossed 100 days in that it went house full for 40-50 days
in this case they should have recovered the investment in one month itself
so there is no chance for loss..
If they say again and again loss then it should be like that ..They may had bought the film for higher than what they say in public

cm123, don't waste your time. Even I knew stories of a few empty rows in the opening shows, due to exorbitant ticket prices but that doesnt mean that the theater owner's distributors lost money. There is something called *buying* shows and I think DM is ignorant of that fact. And we all know what happens behind the scenes. End of matter. Please don't encourage whining malcontents
And on Thalaivar's speech I was astonished by the praises shankar got from Rajini. Next only to KB. Too much I say
And welcome back Joe, needless to say we all missed you :P

Though the story line is not new Shankar utilized Rajini to a maximum in commercial way in scenes like MGR,Sivaji and kamal get ups, Mottai boss and white rajini thats why Rajini told earlier that he has never acted in scenes like that ..
And they have worked hard in fight and song sequences too

CM123, I don't want to go back to the 70s/80s but lets take the 90s. Suresh krishnA gave three movies with Rajini: veerA(An under-rated comedy classic), aNNAmalai (my personal favorite), bAtshA(of course). Now don't tell me that shankar was able to extract better things from Rajini than what suresh krishnA extracted. And those three movies are far better than the BOSS anyday. Of course shankar must be lauded for satisfying everyone with the BOSS

as i said, this matter is a jujubi, becos the loss amount quoted is very less when compared with total collections.but my point is why rajni is keeping silent, becos its nOt a small issue for distributors. for them losses around 1 crore is not small money right? they are suffred with loss which AVm is arrogant even to listen to. So rajini shud intervene and force AVM or somehow settle the loss. Atleast pushing AVm to agree a discount in their future films will do. that will console them for the least. but rajni's silince is meaning differently. guessing goes like rajni don't want to openly accept even iota of loss for sivaaji and want to live with only the creamy layer good news we see in most of the media. the dinamani and JV article are very clear and neutral that they never hit him or make fun on him. instead they put a gentle reminder that rajni's intervene in this issue is utmost needed.
if some other new gen actors refuse to settle losses we can understand. nothing great in them! but rajni....i think he shud set example path for others rite? good example. one even wonders how easily this matter cud have been settled under covers long back.
now u understnd all the alangaara pattams which fans make on rajni is not looking beautiful, at times. eventho he always deserves that is not a matter now
when, not one, but many sources point that exibitors and distributors of Tn are under loss, it only looks like true...malcontents
whining

Abba thanga rasa, I can understand you, But Sakala too
common guys other thread especially 10A need your Daily Thanthi Reporting skills.
This is the same paper which confirmed that Shivaji will be making about 400 cr when its released in Japan. Than you were same set of people who were jumping in every possible angle .
I gave you guys a simple food for thought. as too what would have happend but still you guys keep posting same old loss articles.(like an arrunda record). Bottomline Thalivar did with only other actors can only dream. He conquered India and whole of UK ,US,Malaysia, and southeast asia and EUROPE at the same time , this was never done nor anyone will.(You have wait for ROBO to repeat this..feat)
With all these happened exceeded everyone expetation, if you are still claiming that there has been a loss. If Rajini can't do it , Than YandaKombanalyum ..panmudeyadu..!

I actually wanted to reply here..but withdrew after it became a anti shivaji success aura....the proof shown against shivaji's success is laughable and the statements coming here seem to come right after the videos and news of shivaji also running strongly in other countries where hindi films have a stronger base have been published.....seems like a refusal to believe that its a international success. For non-believers..if you cant digest its success its best to ignore..why make a childish dig at the movie and create unnecessary discussions..its like as if a rajini film cannot even be a hit..

Do you REALLY care how much funds this film or any other films have collected??? Have you kiddies invested in any of these?
or have you kiddies bought the distribution rights for this movie!!!
Get over it
Watch the film, enjoy it or don’t enjoy it, there is no point in talking about profit/loss...etc unless you guys are directly involved

When RK was considered to be another dark horse. Kamal was considered to be the only followup of MGR & Shivaji ! What happened in last 20years is in front of you I don't have to create a testimony for this. Infact the equation is otherway around rite now(now pl don't jump) I meant Market share wise RK has much bigger reach compare to any other Actor in India ( leave alone comparing with KH ). Producers are ready to "RISK Big Bucks" on him at this age, Hats of Thaliva. He is the one who always tried to take Tamil to the World stage. He succeed Big time with Shivaji
Instead of Praising him for this grand success, here you guys try bashing him at every single article you find on the web in your lesuire time (these ariticle were created with its soul purpose as getting more clicks) as Raghu mentioned most of you guys have no clue about lotz of things . Its Fun only upto a point after that its considered as "Insane comments".
Common guys Don't spoil the fun. LIVE and LET LIVE :P

I have never seen any Rajni fan moaning or complaining about any Kamal movies / projects etc etc... but the same can not be said about kamal fans attitude.
like u said, there was one decent kamal fan here, he knows who he is, but even he has become like this,....

It did run well in overseas..there were loads of reports from malaysian news and even a article...im from singapore and i can vouch for its success here as well....running for more than 1 month in singapore is a feat by itself....let us not even start on USA and UK....doesnt it seem abit silly saying its not a international sucess..even there are youtube videos about its success..what else do you guys need?....GOD himself to show a replay of the movie running since its release date till now from every country?..ithu ellam konjam overa irukku..could kamal fans please focus on dasaavatharam if all the things you guys have to say is unviable proof on shivaji...its spoiling the atmosphere

maybe someone like DM cna be too aggressive, but other kamal fans are not like what u ppl project.
during VV period many arguements came frm rajnifans related to its collections. we only answered to their complaints but never said that "these rajini fans eppavume ippadi thaan" we never commented about the person.
we never jumped to point blame the person, like what u ppl are doing. i know, you dont have other options.
given if kamal movies flop, we simply agree that and move on. never argue like what u ppl do.
not even one rajni fan is neutral here. all are discussing about the kamal fan who posts the news but no one discuss on the real issue we say. some fans like hulkster happily digress about issues we nevr spoke of.

even if rajini fans agree to the losses - who should compensate that?? i mean with profit of 40 crores - AVM has to do it......rajinikanth has done his part in getting 106-110 crores collected - its now AVM's duty to sort out issues with distributors, if any left..........wat will rajini fans do for that??? u continously posting here abt this is pointless -

thilak - u havent read hub during CM time - rajaram anne - called CM a flop -

Sivaji, top among the 10 albums of the year 2007...
Perhaps the big daddy of all albums, Sivaji not only smashed all the box-office records but also took the audio sales in its stride in 2007. Notwithstanding the superstar charisma, Rahman factor gave the sales of this album a definite push. Besides, three tracks snuck their way into Internet adding fuel to the fire of excitement even before the official release of this album. It’s impossible to miss the lilting melody of ‘Sahanaa Saaral’ or the foot thumping rhythm of ‘Athiradee’.

softsword,
I am suprised that Dr.SPB's balelakka , and SS opening song did not top the chart!

The reason is ballelakka is not like the regular SS intro songs...
the tune was a bit complicated, and a bit difficult to sing by normal people... thanks to spb's breathless work...
so, it might not have topped the chart...
but i don understand which chart you are concerned about...

though many of us doesn like udit for that song, i would say that, udit did it really well with the high pitch parts...
if you notice the high pitch lines in both the slow version by VJ yesudas and udits version, you could easily notice where VJ yesudas struggles in a point where udit pulls it out with ease...

Entertainment at your fingertips
Sagorika Dasgupta
In a movie crazy nation such as India, the download business is set to grow by effectively marrying technology with showbiz
Production houses benefit a great deal from the business of downloads as they are crucial in tapping the overseas market where the demand for Indian film and television content is huge. Films like Dhoom:2, Don, Salaam-e-Ishq, Heyy Babyy, Dus Kahaniyaan, Spiderman 3, Beowulf and the Rajnikanth film Sivaji benefited from downloaded revenues. Character and theme-based games built around the concept of these films were hugely popular among audiences.

Pattimanram Raja's wonderful inputs on Sivaji's success!!
A few days before Pattimanram Raja came as a Guest in Sun TV's 'Asathha Povadhu Yaaru' programme.
While he was giving Guest Speech he didn't fail to speak about Sivaji which even the producer didn't.
Sivaji - a proud for Tamilians
"Ever since i acted in Sivaji - i am being referred as an actor who appeared in Sivaji alone. (He was referring his name has changed from Pattimanram Raja to Rajini's Father- in- law Raja.) During the shooting was going on or even now lots of people who meet me - wherever i go - ask only about Sivaji experience. I am proud for being associated in a Tamil film which got released over 800 centres for the first time in Tamil cinema industry and also became a smash hit all over the globe. Sivaji really made Tamilians proud. I couldn't just imagine my experience of acting with Superstar. It is a wonderful and unforgettable experience"
We thank Mr. Raja for sharing his views.

AVM gave cash bonus to all its employees for Sivaji success!
(Sunday, 9th March 2008)
AVM Productions has paid a bonus of Rs.25,000/- to each of its employees on account of Sivaji's super success and rained profits like never before.
Though many of us have difference of opinion with AVM regarding the way it marketed and prmoted Sivaji - we hereby salute AVM for sharing the profit with its workers.
It is reported that nearly 350+ workers were given this lumpsum bonus.

AVM shares profit with its employees - Indian Express
Like Superstar in real life, his movie Sivaji too faced lots of hurdles and negative propaganda (by a section of media) and finally hit the bulls eye.
Records and more records
If my collection of papers and news cuttings of Sivaji records, were piled - it will go up to a two storey building. So, whenever i read something negative about Sivaji or its success i become tensed than AVM or director Shankar. (even some of you too would have experienced this)
Life before and after Sivaji
Each and every theatres and distributors made umpteen times of profit to their investment on Sivaji. Many theatres renovated, repaired DTS and aircons and witnessed Houseful boards after two years gap. A small example: Employees of a theatre in Chennai who looked depressed earlier - sported looks with minor chains and bracelets later, after Sivaji's release!!
Congrats AVM
Eversince i heard about this Sivaji bonus news - i was looking for a printed evidence from a leading Media house. Thanks to New Indian Express for providing the same. Today Indian Express (Indulge) has said that AVM is to pay its employees a hefty pack of bonus because of Sivaji's super success. Congrats AVM and its employees.

Rajini Boss to rock North India
By : Settu Shankar
Tuesday, March 25 2008
Superstar Rajinikanth's Shivaji, the Blockbuster of the year 2007, is now all set to hit theatres in Northern India. The reshooting and dubbing work of the film is over now and the producers are now negotiating with their Mumbai and upcountry counterparts to release the movie in big way.
Even the Tamil version was a hit for North Indian audiences all over India and the film has successfully completed its 100th day mark in two theaters in Mumbai and one in New Delhi (as said by AVM).
The Hindi version of Shivaji will hit the screens with nearly 350 prints all over the country. There are number of big names also contending for the distribution rights of the great film including the UTV Group, the producers of Jodha Akbar.
According to the producers, the movie will be a big summer treat for the North Indian viewers and releasing date will be announced soon after completing the distribution formalities.

Rajkiran revives Malaikallan
By : Settu Shankar
Tuesday, March 25 2008
The actor also revealed that the reason behind his decline of an offer with Superstar Rajini in Shivaji. He said, "Now I'm doing positive roles only in all my films. After watching my role as a sensible father in Thavamai Thavamirunthu, thousands of youngsters sensationally write letters to me and pray to get a father like me. If I were to play negative role like Suman doing in Shivaji, definitely it would be a big minus to Rajini sir's great film. It would spoil the movie. That was the only reason behind my denial."

One thing I fail to understand is, why these people (KH fans) are against AVM? What is wrong in appreciating a production house (that too age old) that has done something good (relatively)?Tommorrow AVM can very well sign up KH for a movie. Afterall he claims AVM to be his own house (for they were who introduced him).

OK, I might have said it in the wrong context. In general right from the day AVM started SIVAJI this has been the trend with KH fans. To kind of trash AVM at all possible oppurtunities & eulogize Oscar to unimaginable levels. Anyway that was just my observation.
Frankly I don't see much difference between these producers.

Continuing the digression, Oscar is much better than AVM when it comes to publicity/management/handling the distrubution etcc., Though he is a little *unethical*, he is more effective than AVM. I don't know whats going to happen with Dasa but the way he marketed anniyan was freakin awesome. No wonder it became a money spinner
AVM's marketing tactics were pretty poor w.r.to Sivaji (though it did not back-fire; but a dream-combo like sivaji deserved better things). All these strictly IMHO

OK, this post is for ignorant souls like Kalyan who claim that sivaji was released with only 12 prints in ROI
A few points (on top of my head)
1. 15 prints in Bombay alone
2. Started with 2 prints in Delhi, within a week two more prints were sent
3. After a couple of weeks had a wide release (for a Tamil movie) in Maharashtra, Gujarat
OK, this thread can rest in peace now!

2. Started with 2 prints in Delhi, within a week two more prints were sent
3. After a couple of weeks had a wide release (for a Tamil movie) in Maharashtra, Gujarat
OK, this thread can rest in peace now!
1. ennamo PM paNNuren nnu sonneengaLae, ithu thann andha PM aa??
2. veRum kaiyaala Muzham pOttadhu pOdhum, link kudu mAmae
AFAI remember, not more than 3 cinemas were showing sivaji in Mumbai. i will be glad to accept what u say if u substanciate ur claims.

3. On Bombay, NI will post the links later in the day.. Have them bookmarked in my home PC..

may be like what u have told the no. of screens may have been increased in the later weeks due to public demand.
but during the first week, 2 of my friends visited 3 cinemas and came back empty handed saying they couldnt get the tickets after trying in "all" the theaters.
sivaji got the publicity as it was the most expensive indian movie produced till then. also i had even seen a few marathi newspapers giving first page coverage for more than one reason. one rajini being a maharashtrian and sivaji (chatrapati) is a name linked with a strong sense of maratha pride.
sivaji had released only in the metros and not even in big cities like Pune during the first week. additional prints cold have been sent later. i accept that.

It is very hard to say, thamizarasan!
It ran about 70-75 days in Devi 70 mm hyderabad where CM ran 100 days and collected more.
BUt, shivaji opening weekend was record break for a "bilingual movie" which has not been broken yet!
Overall it was Hit in hyderabad/andhra!

Nope, certain scenes were changed according to suit the telugu audience..its actually only one but it was shot with rajini showcasing himself as NTR,Chiranjeevi and so on. It is a bilingual. The dubbing part through as rajini does not speak telugu well.

not only one song... the Sivaji house name ( while shreya and family coming to rajini house for virundhu) temples name and u cant see any thamizh board or tamizh names in Sivaji (telugu)...
Even Rajini will tell as Telugu ammaayi...telugu sampradhaayam instead of Tamizh ponnu... thamizh kalaachchaaram
Bilingual movie means a movie released in two language

The same thing applicable to sivaji also. sivaji had collected less in 5th week than 4th and 6th week due to kireedom release. But it had good resilent to come back. if you colosely look the sivaji collection curve, in 5th week it collected about 50 lakhs and sixth week it collected about 1 Crore. We too know that collection of a movie subjected to many factors. However, sivaji remainds top in that....
In south africa, sivaji reached top 10 list on opening week, though the movie did not release simultaneously.

Yes. There are many reasons for the success/records of any movie. This is just an occasion to marvel at the aligning of all those factors to create such a record. (For eg., ppl still talk about Haridoss' record; Only rarely do they say it was bcos MKT got arrested and the prospect that it would be his last movie became very real).
The fact that no other movies came out WAS NOT A COINCIDENCE. It was precisely bcos other producers did not want to take chances...

As far as I have checked, the Hindi album isn't commercially available yet.. though the album has been completed.
And most likely the film may not be dubbed into Hindi owing to Shankar's tremendous workload in Enthiran. There have been albums which have been released from Tamil to Hindi but the movies have never been dubbed for Hindi release.
Let's see

the movie's hype was at the highest .... every one of my friends were just listening to the songs from the movie .....
and after waiting for it for like 1.3 years to watch the movie ...
and you finally get the ticket in the counter and sit in the theater and you are in the theater 25 min before the movie begins ..... Man what a feeling ...it was like "passing a national exam"
" overall the movie did not dissapoint me at all ...

Rajinikanth’s Sivaji is the biggest money spinner in India
You know what? Though Ghajini is the ‘highest grossing Indian film of all time’,its not the biggest money spinner in India? Rajinikanth’s Sivaji is. The movie’s share from both languages (Tamil and Telugu) is 64 crores. Till 3 Idiots arrived, this movie holds the number one spot in actual revenues. Our very own telugu film Magadheera amassed a share of Rs 58 crores. Wondering how South Indian films are able to generate revenues matching that of Hindi cinema, despite having a far lesser reach? My next article on how Southern cinema (esp Telugu) is a goldmine that needs to be tapped.

Audience measurement measure how many people are in an audience, usually in relation to radio listenership and television viewership, but also newspaper and magazine readership, and increasingly, usage of websites, to help broadcasters and advertisers determine who is listening, rather than just how many. This broader meaning is called audience research.
