Veteran actor Vijayan passed away in Chennai on Friday night. The actor died of Cardiac arrest in a private hospital in Chennai.

Shot to fame with Uthiripookal, directed by Mahendran, Vijayan had acted as hero in few films before establishing himself as a character artiste.

After a brief exile, he acted as villain in few films including Vijayakanth starrer Ramana, Ajit's Varalarau.

He is currently acting in Ayudham Seivom starring Sundar C, He complained of chest pain and was rushed to Surya Hospital where he breathed his last. The whole of Tamil film industry is paying rich tributes to the actor.

  New Delhi: Veteran actor Vijayan, who had starred in over 100 Tamil and Malayalam films, died in Chennai on Saturday night.
  
  The actor, who had acted in more than 100 movies, died of Cardiac arrest in a private hospital in Chennai.
  
  A native of Kozhikode, Vijayan was introduced to cinema by acclaimed Director Bharathiraja in Kizhakae Pogum Rayil.
  
  The 63-year-old actor shot to fame with Uthiripookal, directed by Mahendran.
  
  He played prominent characters in several films like Niram Maraatha Pookal, Pasi, Oru Vidukathai Oru Thodarkathai and Palaivana Rojakal.
  
  Vijayan had also acted in Mani Ratnam's Nayakan, Ramana and Run.
  
  He was shooting for Sundar C's Ayudham Seivom when he breathed his last.
  
  The actor is survived by his daughter.

  Loved his performance in FIVE STAR. His acting was pretty much natural and ruthless in that movie
  
  Few years back, in one of his interviews to a tamil magazine, he told that he suffered a lot financially (before Ramana)
