Vijay-Asin get awards at Film Today Award function / with pics

The lucky ones got to see Vijay and Asin, Namitha’s flying kiss, the item number by Laya – junior Silk, all at one venue.
Film Today magazine has been conferring awards for the past few years on film and TV stars. This year’s function took place at the Kamarajar Hall. On hearing that Vijay and Asin were to participate, the hall overflowed with their fans.
India is not exactly known for starting functions on time, and the organizers did not disappoint...the function started only an hour late! The melodious music of U K Murali’s Udayaragam was a treat to the ears and the dance a feast to the eyes.
Junior Silk
As Laya entered the stage held up by 4 young men for the ‘seenaa daanaa’ song, the auditorium reverberated with wolf whistles. Next came junior Silk who has changed her name to Swapnasundari. As she gyrated on stage for ‘theepidikka theepidikka’ song with a tantalizing glimpse of her hips and thighs, the onlookers’ imagination took fire too.
As music and dance presented a spectacle on stage, Asin and Vijay made their entry into the hall and photographers created a minor stampede in getting pictures of them. Suddenly, a crowd ran to another side of the auditorium. Thinking that a bigger VIP than Vijay had just come in, we looked in that direction. It was none other than Namitha clad in an open necked attire, blowing kisses to the fans.
Namitha
The award function commenced after that. Shoba Chandrasekhar lit the lamp and inaugurated the function. After television stars Kausalya, Sripriya and Abhishek received their awards, the silver screen stars were invited on stage.
Sathyaraj, Prakashraj, Vadivelu, Sandhya, Namitha, Madhumita, director Venkatesh, Balaji Sakthivel, music composer Vidyasagar and others received their awards. When Namitha declared to the audience that she loved them, they swooned in ecstasy!
T M Soundararajan, Manorama and others received special awards as ‘Sigaram Thotta Manidargal.’ Vijay handed over this award to his father who was also a recipient.
Vijay and Asin got their awards last and the applause was deafening. P T Selvakumar of Film Today delivered the vote of thanks.
