Revisiting Aabhaavanan

does anyone here rate this guy up there? i know some hardcore fans of his... especially for films like oomai vizhigal. an uncle, who has been a self-proclaimed film buff, recommended his movies sometime back. caught a couple of them and thought maybe sendoorapoove is his only film which kind of impressed. interestingly, he has apparently never directed a movie and is always a backstage boss - scripting, production control, the works. i find that quite interesting. but that apart, i found oomai vizhigal too campy for my taste. which are his other movies? and more importantly, what's he doing now?

just curious, 'coz he's apparently the guy who had kicked off a flurry of film institute products to tamil cinema in the mid-80s (?) including r.k. selvamani and r.v. udayakumar.

Inaindha kaigal was a good attempt too but with a poor cast (like Ramki and arun pandiyan).. For some reason he favoured Arun pandiyan in his movies, which probably led to his decline :)

i always imagined about the film if the roles are done by rajini and kamal.it would have been outstanding

Aabhavaanan is now busy with film distribution. He is the head of Ayngaran International - Europe's largest Tamil film distributor and DVD publisher.

yeah, inaintha kaigal was good in bits though they were trying hard to come up with something labouredly hollywoodian. arun pandian and ramki were his staple cast, i guess. wasn't there something called karuppu roja, with a new hero? is that from aabhavaanan? anybody seen it?

Yeah i have seen that movie.That movie is full of new actor and actors.It is basically a fantasy story with a lot of gimmicks...I mean i don find anything new in that

I remember Karuppu Roja was the first DTS movie in Tamil(or is it the 1st in India?). Music was by MSV Raja(son of MSV?), I dont think any song being good enough. Happened to see it on SUN TV, couple of years back, was a below average supernatural movie.

I came across this article. I even remember hearing this movie name sometime back too.
