Generally in kollywood the top heros get paid more than music directors(I'm sure there are opposite cases as you've mentioned). As you can see from the link, atleast these 10 heroes get paid more than harris. Im sure interz saw this link which was posted on one of vijay's thread. (I don't know how reliable or accurate this information is, but i know this is where he got his comment from). This is why i think he made that statement, not that he thinks Hj is not deserving of 2 crores (which is really not our call). This is what he meant by hero rangeku....

I see where your coming from, but knowing interz to some extent i can vouch for him, that he doesn't have any ill feelings towards HJ.

There is no confirmation from Shankar sir regrading this remake project. We will have to wait for another few months, to see if this whole thing is true or not...

Dont think i am complaining or fighting or quarelling! Just to know! When a movie is confirmed with some hero in lead, how can u suggest some other hero saying it is tailor made for him. Does it hurt the hero in lead announced. Are you trying to justify that the hero u suggested is more eligible hero to take a role of aamir acted role!

Why vijay cant do this a? The director is big, shouldnt be vijay given a chance to act in movies like this! Whether surya has been declared only the eligible hero to act in class movies like this?

Is it possible for u to say what ur heart desires like u did here in other bigger heroes threads! Just curious i am not fighting!

But still i am welcoming vijay and surya together. Anything good from some other place can be shown people in tamil nadu in the way our ppl understand, i think shankar only can justify it! Hopefully this movie proves that talent of his!

Certain capabilities of Vijay have been revealed only after some movies.. For ex: Solo comedy in Ghilli... Though there were many films before Ghilli, it was Ghilli that brought it in a full fledged manner...

Likewise Vijay has done offbeat roles in movies like TMT, Priyamudan, Love Today, Friends etc.. which aren't mass masala oriented but of late his movies are dominated by mass oriented scripts... By doing repetitive masala roles there might be speculation for some that how vijay will do a role in 3I.. But once again if he proves that he is capable of doing such roles and breaks the barriers, i'm sure everybody will be astonished & start praising him

I have watched 3 Idiots and liked it a lot. I was quite perturbed when I read about the Tamil remake of 3 Idiots (of what I've heard of it so far).

Shankar makes larger-than-life movies with such grandeur and 3I does not seem to be the kind of movie he directs. Especially after directing the most expensive movie, Enthiran, I do not think that the audience will accept a more simple movie from Shankar. So I expect there will be changes with grand song sets, etc. I don't feel however that that will be for the better. I think that story will be lost in the grandeur.

I think that Vijay has the potential to act very well except that his potential has not been tapped. But I fear that he may be a wrong choice. Vijay has unfortunately an image to uphold and I think that his role will be enhanced to include heroism (there are likely to be fights) and again I feel that this will detract from the story. I believe that Vijay would be able to deliver on the acting front; he does have a certain charisma but how likely is it that fight scenes will not be included?

I also cannot imagine another top hero acting alongside Vijay. Even though the other two characters are strong, the lead "Rancho" character is the most "heroic" (the most intelligent, has a heroine, is extremely successful at the end of the movie). I cannot imagine any current top hero wanting to play second fiddle to Vijay. If a top hero were to act in one of the other two roles, I would imagine that his role will be expanded and there will be heroine to partner him with duets and all. Again this would probably add unnecessary stuff to the movie.

I hope that any changes made will benefit the story and not done just so that we can marvel at the wonderful sets, costumes and song picturisations. I kind of wish another director (one who directs "so-called smaller" movies) is directing this movie instead.

Ya ya i read somewhere on Indiaglitz that Shankar joined the industry initially with an thirst for acting... but later when things didn't work out he changed to direction.

How many hubbers have seen the original 3i?... I've only read the novel five point someone which was a great novel. Ever since the rumours for the remake started I decided that it will be better to see the Shankar version than the hindi since Shankar has never remade a film before and also after hearing that he has plans to make a brand new script for it.

But its 100% unexpected that Shankar would do this.. Coz that movie dont need anything extra, everything is perfect.. Any director can do this movie and make it a grand success..

Shankar sir knew me right from my Eeram days. He was very happy with my work for Eeram. But what I think must have made him sign me up for 3 Idiots is my work for VTV. It had that gloss that his movies are famous for. Initially, I was apprehensive to take on the project because of my commitment to Gautham sir. At a time when he could have signed up any top cinematographer, he chose to give me a break, that too trusting the words of one of his associates. So, I really did not want to upset him or his film in anyway. But he understood my position and magnanimously let me work for 3 Idiots.
What makes me really happy about this project is the fact that it will be over in six to eight months as the film is being planned as a summer release. The shoot will most probably begin by late October or early November.
