| YNM might have suited Vijay well. I haven't seen the tamil yet, I'm going by the telugu, but I think (regardless of how young Vijay looks) Santhosh S. would have been too young of a role for him. It required a fresh new face and it would have been a little hard for audiences to see Vijay in that role.
I'm excited that this is a love story though. One movie that needs to be remade PRONTO is Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. If Vijay takes up an awesome role like that, his image would change overnite. |

K2H2 is tooo popular to be remade but if well adapted,cutting down some of those sugary Sana Saaed scenes it wud be awesome. PD himself is a good choice.I liked NVNV even more than MPK.

Well, Nayantara might just have to dance in the rain once again after 'Kuselan'. When asked about Prabhu Deva's Hindi remake of 'Pokiri' featuring Salman Khan, the expert dancer turned director says, 'it has been about seven years since Salman had acted in an action packed film. He has performed extremely well and the movie is sure to be exciting'. It is interesting to note that Prabhu Deva is directing Vijay for 'Villu' while his elder brother Raju Sundaram is directing Ajith in 'Aegan'. So who are the real competitors? Vijay and Ajith or Prabhu Deva and Raju Sundaram? We'll know soon. |

Later on a huge set at Binny Mills, the introductory song of Vijay was being shot. It was choreographed by Vijay's opening song specialist Asok Raj, who has done many of his hit songs. Ayngaran Music will be launching the Villu audio on December 15. The music of Devi Sri Prasad is going to rock. |

But he has hyped for films like MADUREY (Where he said he is all gung-ho playing the role!!) , Aadhi, Sachin, Kuruvi , etc! | OK people. Moment of truth. My review on VIjay’s Villu. I feel like screaming it was a total load of crap but guess I’ll cut him some slack. Before I go on, be advised that likely there is going to be a lot of ’SPOILERS’ up ahead. I will give you the story summary at the end. For now I’ll mention the various part that kind of still disturbs me.
First of all the movie title and cast names runs with a background song from yesteryear’s MGR’s movie. It was from the movie ‘Mannathi Mannan’ and the song title is ‘Accham Enbathu Madamaiya Da’ meaning fear is dumb. To me it created an unexplainable hype though the song didn’t make any sense for being played. The next thing to be mentioned will be the introduction of Vijay. It was done as if a TV station reporter was going around asking people who their favourite actor is. So the viewers goes with a list like Rajini, Kamal, MGR but they missed out Sivaji. If you would ask me, that was so rude. Anyway the reporter approaches an old lady who describes an event that happened like a week back where a Hero(Vijay) beat up some rowdies over at a market place. So we move back in time to see the introduction of Vijay. The fact that his introduction was made in a past tense already killed the presence. One top of that the introduction was the same as the leaked videos weeks back. I mean come on. Since it was leaked, couldn’t you make up another scene? Is it that difficult? I guess all the audiences in the theatre must have seen the leaked video so much so I didn’t hear a single whistle though I can swear I heard giggles. As for the comedy wise, Vadivelu’s introduction was funny. From that moment, it was all jokes and nothing but jokes. I am talking about close to an hour! I will rate the comedy scenes so so but it was really not tolerable for an hour. Felt each comedy scene was way too lengthy that we loose interest after some time even if it is funny. One particular scene I can recall which is totally off will be Vadivelu sparing with a cow that talks! It was a computer generated cow and well it could talk, stand on twos and do boxing with him. This scene lasted I think like 5 mins. It was so boring and lame I felt like I accidentally entered a mindless sitcom show. While all this is going on, Nayanthara attempted a bit of comedy and her usual glamour. She showed way too much hip in this show so much so it was disturbing. She is clearly a woman without a good figure with light lumps formed all over her belly areas. Imagine them throbbing when she dances and moves. Unsightly if you would ask me. Also I felt she was way tanned then usual in this movie. Not sure if it was intended or just poor makeup. As for villain wise, Prakash Raj didn’t do justice to his role and failed to impress the audience. Other than walking around with pistols and surrounded by goons, there was nothing impressive nor catchy about his performances and dialogue deliveries. As for the rumours on dual roles, yes it is true and boy do I hope they could have avoided that storyline. The two roles are father and son. When the father role was introduced to the screen, believe me there was laughter and jeers going on. He comes as a military officer. Nothing much in the outlook difference less his moustache a little twirled. The father role was a laughing stock cos he didn’t fit a military officer role at all. While people like Suriya and Vishal can take efforts to fit in in such demanding roles, this guy just changed his shirt and took his seat which sure didn’t match. Vijay, are you really so cocky thinking you don’t need to work on your movies and fans will just buy all the crap you sell? The father Vijay’s wife is played by yesteryear’s heroine Ranjini. She was the one who acted in the movie ‘Karna’ alongside Arjun. You recall the famous song ‘Malare, Mounamaa’? Yup, that’s her. I don’t see why they chose her as she has been absent from the silver screen for a long time now. Anyway, when ever she attempted a dialogue and especially the climax, the theatre was filled with laughter like as if it was a comedy scene. Remember Prabhu Deva comparing the movie to James Bond? If James Bond was ever made on the mediocre stunts the ‘Villu’ team attempted, they would have long closed shop and went bankrupt. It was all cheap stunts and poor graphics. As for his dance moves, nothing different and in fact ‘ATM’ and ‘Kuruvi’ dance moves were better. For a movie from Prabhu Deva, yet another disappointment. I know he was not the dance master for this movie but he could have intervened as it was clearly not the best you can pull out of Vijay. You remember the scene where Nassar describes his son and introduces his real identity in the movie ‘Pokkiri’? I still feel the goosebumps when I mention it and it was an amazing scene. A similar attempt was done by the actress Geetha (she came as the wife of Mamoothy in the movie Thalapathi) and it came nowhere close. Again jeers. The movie spots were good most of them shot mainly in Europe. I did enjoy the scenaries they had captured but then again I could get better views on a good TV travel channel. I was there to get thrilled and mesmerised by a Vijay’s movie and I was extremely disappointed. The show was not even worth 50% of what I paid for the tickets. It was a very draggy and boring show which attempted to thrill us now and then but failed to keep the adrenaline pumping. As for music, such a mistake to use Devi Sri Prasad. The songs were bad. The back ground music was bad. I felt he played a huge part for jeers when certain emotional dialogues were exchanged with bad music. Such poor work from him and I don’t know if Prabhu Deva was being sarcastic when he mentioned that Sri Prasad did an excellent job in the re-recording. Now for a simple summary of the show. Vijay’s dad is a loyal military officer who gets murdered by his co-officers (Prakash Raj and 2 more villains) as he could have exposed their traitor activities. They go on to paint a picture where Vijay’s father is a traitor so much so they strip his body off his ranks and the village people ban his final rites from taking place. Vijay’s mother also gets tattooed ‘ Traitor’s Wife’ in Tamil of course on her forehead. Well the younger Vijay grows up and teams up with the commissioner who was a friend of his dad’s to annihilate all these villains. He acts like he loves Nayanthara to get access to Prakash Raj since he is her dad. Uses a similar tactic and acts like a son to another of the three villains. Take note it was never explained whether Vijay does love Nayanthara or not. They totally forgot that part and Vadivelu also went missing after the first half of nothing but comedy. So basically the suspense held for us audience is the question of why he is doing all these murders and bad things. And as mentioned, it is all for revenge. The climax fight was too draggy and I started to get edgy on my seat. Overall, it’s a poor movie. Every time I go for a Vijay’s movie in the theatre’s the expectations are so high and he has yet to hit the target for a long time. What is he thinking and what are the director and producers thinking? You play this movie to me and I would immediately tell you it is bad. A simple layman like me can see this and those apparent veterans and experts can’t? Understanding what the audience wants and presenting it will be a sure winner so why don’t you guys do some analysis on that? I think I no longer dare to queue up for his movie tickets till some days pass and I get some reviews. Wasting money is just one part but sitting there for close to three hours for a lame show can be really taxing. I would rate this show 2/5. Please flood me with comments and share what you think even if you don’t share the same views. I just kind of puked out all that was in my mind fresh from the theatres. To me, it is just another show you wait for links or VCDs to watch at home. |

climax. Even many hubbers told initially in this very thread at the mention of Soldier movie name that the climax in that movie is not good and they took exactly that. to PD and Vijay - nalla dhaan irukku unga pulse
Kushboo in intro song, now what was that for Pokkiri Dhol Dhol still lingers in my mind
and to PD for perhaps sowing a seed in Vijay's mind about what he ought to be doing henceforth.

Screen play It was very clear from the beginning that most of the scenes was shot just to push the clock and had nothing to do with the story , especially the scenes involving Vayapuri,Pandu, pollachi marriage fight ??????? but thank GOD that Vadivelu had given his heart and soul to safeguard villu team. This lag and confusing screenplay continues till the very end of the film such that it gives an effect of being inside the theatre for more than 6 hours.Few also commented that they had the effect of seeing a good remix of the film aadhi,aegon and pokkiri, which is also a fact. Dance Vijay never fails to satisfy his fans through his dance, but that too was not satisfactory in Villu. Well, he gives his best , but trying to create a brand or style in dance will never work out. How many times one can see his steps of dancing with folded legs ? But his performance in the song “NEE KOBAPATTAL …” is highly appreciated for his cute expressions and clever choreography. Where is Vijay Intro ? Director messed up with the most expected Intro of Vijay in villu. His intro doesnt create the magic it created in Sivakasi or atleast pokkiri. Eventhough the idea was ok, too fast screen play and logicless scene sequences made the Intro very very normal. Vijay’s Flag But whatsoever, Vijay is moving in right direction atleast in his political game by introducing his flag and a old political movie song as a title song. But he should realise that all these political pinch will have meaning only if the film is a hit. Bored of Vijay + Prakash Raj Combination Seriously its boring, gilli, pokkiri, sivakasi…….plz….try someone else. Villu Story and the Suspense A usual story, Son takes revenge on those who killed his father.Father is yet another Vijay who does the cameo for 10 to 15 minutes as an army man. But none could digest Vijay as an army man because when other heroes are spending years to bring the body language, six-packs etc, changing the moustache alone created irrresistable laughter. In a Nutshell, Villu is definetly worth watching for Vadivelu, Nayanathara and few good dance sequences. To Vijay, Dear Vijay, These are our analysis and results of our survey on “Expectations of a Vijay Fan”. Kindly do the needful. 1. Please give us a different story line without any masala. Can you ? We need a calm,less weightage character from you. 2. Compared to kuruvi, your tummy is highly visible in this film, kindly watch out. 3. Try to do a film like sachin next ? what say ? 4. Please change your Team(Damu,Vaiyapuri, Vadi velu,Sriman) and give chance to other aspiring actors too, so that we will also have a different feel, you can always bring back your team after few films. 5. Try some lonely chill songs like Sakkari nilavae, ennai thalata..where your presence would be so powerful . 6. Your comedy is seriously improving, try some concepts in it. 7. Please avoid saying the dialogue ” I am a Gilli” in your every movie, its very boring, Gilli was released years back…so ………….. These are our expectations and hope to see a good usual Vijay Movie very sooon. |

Pokkiri, a 2007 Pongal release marked the beginning of the Vijay-Prabhudeva Combination. After this marriage, Jhanvi returns back to Chennai and Pugazh arrives to Chennai in her pursuit. When Pughal speaks about their marriage, Jhanvi insists on him to meet her father JD (Prakashraj). When Vijay meets Prakashraj, the story takes a very interesting turn and the rest of the film is about what assignment Vijay was sent in, why and so forth. Vijay – an Overview: Vijay in the guise of Pugazh has done a marvelous job in this film. His romance with Jhanvi and humor with both Nayanthara and Vadivelu are great assets to the movie. The movie in itself has turned out to be a very stylish flick for Vijay. Vijay’s fight sequences and dance movements are sure to set the screen on fire. With his boy-next-door appearance and unique body language, Vijay has succeeded in bringing out a remarkable style in the movie. Vijay’s performance after the death of Devaraj is to be complemented. His costumes for the film and the songs are very attractive. Vijay turns completely aggressive when it comes to the action sequences but along with his aggressive stunts, one cannot fail to notice his unique style. Vijay re-enters the movie as Major Saravan (Dad of Pugazh) and gives a very good performance. The changes in mannerisms in these two characters have been brought about very well by Vijay. Hats off to our Ilayathalapathy. Nayanthara-Vijay: This is the first film for this dream pair. Already their dance for ‘Kodambakkam Area’ from Sivakasi had a big reach among all kinds of people. Their On-Screen chemistry has worked really well to the advantage of this movie. Nayanthara not only romances with Vijay but also delivers very good comedy along with Vijay and Vadivelu. Nayanthara scores as usual in the glamour sequences and her seducing looks have been used effectively in most of the songs .Dancing with Vijay is not an easy task but Nayan has managed to do that in a very efficient manner. Prabhudeva - The King Maker: Prabhudeva can be credited for bringing about a noticeable improvement in the performance of Vijay and Nayanthara in this movie (not that their performance was any less before!). PD (as he is shortly called!) in his previous interviews accepted that Villu is not a new story but an old story visualized in a different manner. PD’s real talent in presenting the film in a very racy manner is highly evident in the first half and his sentimental touches are remarkable in some of the portions in the second half. He is very sincere about what people expect from Vijay and has done justice to this by giving a storyline with the proper blending of Vijay’s usual elements. Prabhudeva has indeed succeeded in delivering a James Bond type Movie. Ravi Varman – The Man behind the Style: Ravi alone has made the dream film of Prabhudeva possible. His camera has worked wonders in both the songs and action sequences. Ravi himself being a great fan of Vijay has succeeded in giving stunning and stylish looks for Vijay and is the real backbone of the whole film. His camera angles in Munich and in the climax were excellent. The screen chemistry between Nayan and Vijay is strengthened by Ravi’s cinematography. The stylish scenes between Vijay and Prakashraj were made to look really powerful because of the Ravi factor. The best part of Ravi’s work is the ‘Nee Kobapattal’ song. Hats off to this wonderful cinematographer DSP-Man behind the beats: The songs of Villu have already gained momentum after the audio release. DSP’s tunes were a great asset to the movie. DSP accepts the view that he did a very good job in the BGM of Villu when compared to the film’s soundtrack. His BGM for Villu made the film to look more stylish. His BGM for Pugazh (Every Body….) and Major Saravanan (Acham…..) are cool. Thanks for rendering a western touch to the movie. Fefsi Vijayan – Man behind extraordinary stunts There are 5 main fight sequences in the movie. First we have an Intro fight shot in Binny Mills, the fight and intro scenes were well planned and executed by Fefsi Vijayan. The stunt in motor boats is mind-blowing and well cinematographed. The fight sequence in the village is too good with mass elements and local fight styles (using Silambhu, Kombhu, etc). A fight sequence in the helicopter is the major highlight of the film. The final climax fight is also good to watch and brings out the total emotion of Pugazh. Vijayan also plays a cameo role in the song ‘Jalsa’ dancing for the English lines of the song. Songs: Hey Rama Rama – A song completely dominated by Vijay’s dance movements, colorful sets and Kushboo’s amazing screen presence. Vaada Maaple – A wonderfully choreographed song in a village backdrop with good dance moves by both Nayan and Vijay and with some humor delivered by Vadivelu. Daddy Mummy – Vijay’s stylish looks and cool choreography are a great plus to this song. A few mind-blowing steps by Vijay completely overshadows the other screen elements like Mumaith Khan. Nee Kobapatal – A technical/visual treat for all with multiple Vijay’s on the screen with different and cute expressions. Thanks to Rajusundaram (choreography) and Ravivarman for this wonderful song. Jalsa – This song is a visual treat with a seducing Nayanthara and a cool Vijay in a water backdrop to set fire in the minds of the viewers. Dheemthanaka Thillana - A song by DSP which fills the last part of the movie with Vijay’s kuthu number showcasing Vijay and Nayanthara in a colorful Set. Bottom-line: An entertainer with a perfect blending of action, humor, style, mass and class. Villu serves as a sweet pongal gift for all classes of audience. The team of ‘Villu’ has succeeded in meeting the expectations. Rating: 9/10 |

Most of them were family audience.. Surprised that Vijay is more popular with children in the age group of 7 - 10!! They were all shouting and enjoying the movie .. Even I could enjoy the movie to some extent!! Looks like Vijay is not interested in doing anything different as of now.. Would like to see him taking up some good stories which would give ample scope to show his acting calibre... Hope he would do that in his next project.. Somewhere I read that they are planning to trim this movie so that it would be better, in that case they can keep the flashback scenes just 5 mins.. Old wine in a new colourful Bottle!! |

I think BW also takes only Chennai city theaters. There is no doubt all these collection details are false. They just see the number of theaters and multiplexes and with some other calculation and biasness towards certain actors or so and comes with some report for sure. Considering only chennai city (excluding Suburban and Mayajaal) till sunday on the whole Villu could have collected more and for the week end alone Padikaathavan would have collected more. In that way BW should be right but not on the collection details. |

When ever you expect a song or a fight its there on time ina a Vijay movie. So it gets boring. I hope vettaikaran turns out to be a decent masala unlike his three recent duds.
