Happy news for all Vikram fans out there! The actor has completed the talkie portion of his next release, the much hyped Lingusamy directed Bheema. Remember that the actor has not had a release since Maaja released on November 1, 2005! His fans across the globe and in India are eagerly waiting to see him back and this news is sure to bring a smile on their faces.
Yesterday, Chiyaan completed a special song with Sherin of Thulluvatho Illamai fame in Tuticorin. The song has great significance to the story and is going to be one of the highlights of the film.

Vikram spoke to Moviebuzz from the location of the song: “This song Rangu Rangamma…. has shaped out well and was choreographed by Brinda. We shot the song on a souped-up boat and it was not easy to dance on a running boat”. Later Vikram left for Madurai to complete some patchwork shots and by March 31, he would have completed the entire talkie portion of the film.

Now what remain are two songs with Trisha which will probably be shot in Australia. With that Bheema will be complete and the film will positively release by May. Those who saw some action scenes of the film say that it is mind-blowing and daring.

Hats off to producer A.M Ratnam, who has completed the movie against all odds.

That was one of the most boring interview i saw except for the bannana part the interview was very bland and the question posted by Ananda Kanna was all RUBBISH. He asked the same type of question to vj and asin in the pongal show and again the same questions to Vikram and Trisha. Bheema high on vikram's rating list

Vikram is busy completing his Bheema. It has been quite some time since his Maja was released.

Undeterred by the yawning gap, Vikram, says, 'Bheema will more than make it up. It would be a treat for my fans, an out and out action-packed entertainer. I would rate it as the best films that I have worked so far. The storyline of director Lingusamy is pulsating.'

Q: Is Bheema on the familiar lines of underworld and gangsters?

A: It is an action film shot in a stylish manner. Underworld is just a part of the story. It is a mix of action, romance and sentiments. Lingusamy deserves unstinted praise for his hardwork.

Q: Of the inordinate delay and the huge gap between Maja and Bheema?

A: The movie or rather the script demanded that. It is a different film and I had to do rigorous workouts for over six hours everyday to do justice to the role. It is common in Hollywood and Bollywood for movies to be shot over a period of two years.

Q: On your forthcoming film with Susi Ganesan?

A: I have a great regard for Susi, having seen all his movies. Our Kandasaamy will go to floors in the next few days. I have a host of films lined up after that, assigned to work with some good directors later this year. It would be on one after another.

Q: Will you work in two-hero subjects?

A: Pithamagan had Suriya sharing an equal footage with me. Maja had prominence for Pasupathy. I am not against two-hero subjects. As long as the script is convincing, am not averse to do such movies.

Q: Your cherished goal?

A: I have just won a solitary national award (Pithamagan). I want to emulate Kamal Haasan and win as many national awards as possible.

Q: Will you act in other languages?

A: After Anniyan, I was approached by over a dozen production houses from Andhra Pradesh to act in Telugu. Also had a couple of Bollywood offers. As of now, I am more committed to do Tamil films. I want to act in more Tamil movies and satisfy my fans.

Yeah but she does it too obviously and bluntly...from the way she has been doing her offscreen work it seems like she is only in search of money and not trying to prove she can act...and the worst part is she criticises that actresses dunt get performance oriented roles and when she gets one she rejects them saying they dunt have much commercial prospect......well hoping bheema comes out fast enough...lingusaamy is one of the very few directors who can make slick masala flicks rather than direct and nonsense masala flicks

That was one of the most boring interview i saw except for the bannana part the interview was very bland and the question posted by Ananda Kanna was Evil or Very Mad

all RUBBISH. He asked the same type of question to vj and asin in the pongal show and again the same questions to Vikram and Trisha. He should be banned from taking interview.But Vikram looked stunning.Hopefully the movie turns out the same way.

Bheema after Sivaji

Director Linguswamy was in cloud nine when a Behindwoods correspondent spoke to him. Well, he has every reason to be. He reportedly said that after the initial hiccups with the making of Bheema, everything went on smoothly and the film is almost over.

“The difficulties that we underwent have borne fruits with the movie shaping up very well and beyond our expectations”, he said.

According to him, Vikram's sleek style and body language will once again prove to be a trend setter. Speaking on Trisha's performance, he said that Bheema is bound to bring her laurels.

The release of Bheema will be only after Sivaji hits the silver screens, said the director. With Sivaji being expected to be released in mid-May or early June, probably Bheema would be screened during mid-June.

With his home production's Tirupathi Brother's Deepavali being a success, Linguswamy will be wielding the megaphone once again for his home production. Earlier he had planned to direct a Telugu movie with Mahesh Babu. But he says that the project has been shelved for a while to accommodate Tirupathi Brother's yet-to-be-named project with Karthi donning the lead role.

Lingusamy is bubbling with joy. He has returned back home after successfully canning the song sequence between Vikram and Trisha for Bheema in Switzerland.

Says Lingusamy, “The song would be a real highlight of the movie. The onscreen chemistry between Vikram and Trisha is worth a mention. With Sivaji releasing in May, plans are on to complete the post production works of Bheema in the coming days to facilitate a release in June”.

Lingusamy will direct Paruthi Veeran fame Karthi next for his home production (Thirupathy Films) next. “Plans are on to direct Mahesh Babu for an action-packed Telugu movie soon”, he adds.

They are also close buddies of Vikram the hero of the film.

The entire cast and crew of the film had a blast at the party. Now that the film has been completed Bheema, is likely to become the hottest business proposition in town after Sivaji releases on June 15.

Sun TV snaps `Bheema`!

The see-saw battle between Sun TV and the yet to be launched Kalaingnar TV, over Tamil film television rights continues. The latest on the big fight is that Sun TV has snapped Bheema television rights for an astronomical amount.
Bheema is the most eagerly awaited film in the trade after Sivaji and stars Vikram and Trisha, directed by Lingusamy. The film produced by A.M Ratnam was hot in the market and Sun TV who has almost the entire Vikram library of hits like- Anniyan, Maja, Swamy, Pithamahan, Dhool, Sethu and many others were keen to pick up Bheema.

Vikram films on television has been able to garner record TRP's, and has also a repeat value, which some of the other stars do not have. A.M Ratnam, who had his own battle with Sun TV in the past was able to extract a very good deal from the network. He sold Bheema as a package to Sun TV and its sister network Gemini in Telugu for a price which no Vikram film has got in the past!

Vikram - 'Bheema', one of the most powerful roles

Vikram's 'Bheema' is creating few ripples in Kollywood. The storyline seems to be totally different and has everything for the movie to turn out as a complete mass masala movie. Lingusami’s 'Sandai Kozhi' doing well at the box office has added few more mileages to 'Bheema'.

Vikram in one of his recent interviews said, "Bheema is definitely one of the most powerful roles that I will be playing. The story has come out really well. I have mentally adjusted myself for the role. But now I need to get ready physically as well. Once I come back from my holidays I will be delving more into the subject." The movie was first named 'Bheeman' and was later changed to 'Bheema' to suit the large than life role of Vikram. The actor also added that he did not regret doing 'Majaa', since he did have some good time shooting the movie. Comparison of the movie with his earlier 'Anniyan' led to the drop of collections for this movie. He also affirmed that he is always on the lookout for challenging roles since that was what his fans expect out of him.

In the meantime, Vikram’s son Ghuru won rave appreciations at his school for a fancy dress competition. Like father, Like son.

I disagree. In both the films, he excelled in his roles. His performance was credit worthy and i dont find anything wrong with it.

Shooting of Vikram's 'Bheema' has ended and is now ready for release. But it looks as if the film still has lots of problems to deal with. AM Rathnam had produced the film. On the day of the launch itself, he had managed to sell the film at fabulous prices to distributors. He also had collected a very decent sum from them as advance. But Mumbai-based Adlabs has now paid the entire expenses to Rathnam and has bought the film. With that trouble began for Rathnam. The distributors who had paid him advance money for the broadcast rights now want him to either refund their advance or give distributorship rights to them. They say that if he fails to oblige, they'd see to it that the film doesn't hit the theatres at all. Rathnam doesn't want to take this threat lightly because his long-term reputation is at stake here. Adlabs, owned by Anil Ambani, is very angry with Rathnam when they found out that he had already sold the rights to others and had cheated them by selling the rights to them too at an exorbitant price...

The audio of Bheema is all set for launch next week. Director Lingusamy had teamed up with Harris Jayaraj for Bheema. The movie starring Vikram, Trisha and Prakash Raj is produced by A M Rathinam for Sri Surya Movies.

Hariharan, Karthik, Naresh Iyer, Sadhna Sargam, Madhushree, Mahati and Nikil Mathew have sung for the film. Lyricists Pa Vijay and Yugabharathy have penned two songs each, while Thamarai and Na.Muthukumar have written one each.

A peppy number Rangu Rangamma features actors Vikram and Sherin. Rajeevan is the art director while cinematography is by R D Rajasekaran.

“Vikram's stunning looks and body language in this film is certainly something”, says Lingusamy.

Four big movies are ready for the diwali release. Let’s check out what they are

Bheema

It has almost been two years since “Chiyaan” Vikram graced the big screens; therefore, it’s quite natural that the expectations are skyrocketing for his latest starrer Bheema.

But Bheema, which is directed by Lingusamy and produced by A.M. Rathnam, has been in the making for a year now, and has its release dates revised constantly. The movie, expected to release alongside Kreedom, was postponed to September and now it seems that it will hit the screens only for Diwali. Though the filming of the movie is over, the patchwork, graphics and post-production work is going on. Lingusamy after Sandakozhi is very positive about this project and has said that the movie has come out very well. He also added that Bheema would surely be a treat for all Vikram fans. In this film Trisha and Vikram will be dancing to the tunes of Harris Jeyaraj and the audio of the movie is expected to be out soon.
Vel

Vel, directed by Hari, is one of the most anticipated movies of this year. Hari is joining hands with Surya once again and the combination is sure to produce a hit. After the superb on-screen chemistry shared by Surya and Asin in Gajini, the pair will once again be seen sharing the screen space, which has augmented curiosity. Having tasted success with a double role in Perazhagan, Surya is confident to do it once more, sources say. The man with the Midas touch, Yuvan Shankar Raja is taking care of the music. Vel is tipped to be a surefire entertainer as it has all the usual elements such as love, comedy, action and sentiment in the right proportion, which always makes Hari’s work a delicious serving. And the director is very happy on the way the movie is shaping up. Vel is expected to hit the screens before Diwali; but if the post production works are delayed then the movie will crackle with the crackers.

ATM

Azhagiya Tamil Magan is making an excellent progress. With Vijay’s latest Pokkiri being declared a blockbuster, the debutant director Barathan is under a lot of pressure as he has to be in sync with the fans expectations. ATM features two glamour queens Shriya and Namitha, who are going to sizzle on screen with Vijay, in exotic locales, for the music tuned by the music maestro A.R. Rahman. The ace music director and Vijay are joining hands after Udhaya, so the expectations on the music front are also very high. Another significant information on this musical-action extravaganza is an action sequence in which Ilayathalapathy and Vijay will be fighting each other. Confused? For the first time, Vijay is donning a double role. Double treat is awaiting all Vijay fans this Diwali.

Dasavatharam

Come Diwali, crackers and sweets take a backseat as the expectations for this colossus is getting bigger and bigger. Just in case this movie does not see the light of the day on Diwali; the day it hits the screens will be similar to Diwali - such is the hype surrounding this mammoth project. Universal hero Kamal Haasan is playing ten roles for the first time. Dasavatharam, produced by Oscar Ravichandran, is the most expensive movie ever made in the Indian cinema, beating out Sivaji.

The movie features Asin and Mallika Sherawat in prominent roles. K.S. Ravikumar, the captain of the ship is very happy on the final outcome of the movie.

The director has given all credit to Kamal Haasan, and rightly so, as he has spent almost half his day in front of the mirror disguising for the ten roles. Some of the information which is out like the White House set or the tsunami effect being created for the climax or the helicopter shot of all the major places in Chennai is already the subject of discussion in any film following fraternity. Even the American ambassador David Hooper was surprised at the White House which was erected in Chennai Film City. The movie is all set to open across the world on Diwali day.

Bheema on 10th August

After the hide and seek game played by Bheema the Vikram starrer is all set to make a grand opening with guns blazing. After almost two years gap Vikram is back with it and after the initial confusion associated with the movie release and its music release, finally a date has been officially stated by the producer for its music release. The music by Harris Jeyaraj is all set to please everyone's ears from 10th of August.

Harris Jeyaraj's last few movies have been musically huge hits and hence the expectations on Bheema's music are pretty high. The movie seems to be ready and will hit the screens well ahead of Diwali and is eying on a late August or an early September release. This is indeed great news for all Vikram fans.

The much-awaited audio of Vikram-starrer Bheema will be out on 10 August. The movie starring Vikram and Trisha in lead roles is directed by Lingusamy and produced by A M Rathinam.

Bheema has musical score by Harris Jeyaraj and the album reportedly has half-a-dozen songs.

According to Lingusamy, “The song Mudal malai has been shot in Switzerland. Another number Ragasiya kanavugal, at the Tirumalai Nayakkar Mahal in Madurai. A song that goes Rangu Rangamma has been shot on a ship at Tuticorin. A ship engaged exclusively for this song was modified to suit the jazzy number that features actors Vikram and Sherin”.

For another song Tiru paarvaiyaalae the crew had to change the sets after listening to Harris' final version of the song.

“After listening to the basic tune, I wanted a particular set and we went ahead with it. But the final version was mind blowing and demanded much more than that”, adds Lingusamy.

This film brings together Lingusamy and Harris for the first time.

Happy news for Chiyan fans is that the audio release of his film 'Bheema' is to take place on Aug 10.
Sri Surya Movies is producing 'Bheema' on a big budget. Vikram has transformed his physique to body builder range for this film. Before every shot, he flexes his muscles in his portable mini gym before facing the camera.

This story on gangsters is directed by Lingusamy. "But this is not a run of the mill gangster story. We have given great importance to the romance between Vikram and Trisha," says Lingusamy.

Lyrics are by Na Muthukumar, Thamarai, Pa Vijay and Yugabarathy. Music is by Harris Jayaraj. In the song shot at Madurai, Trisha has been ultra glamorous. A duet has been picturised on foreign locales.

It is an action film shot in a stylish manner. Underworld is just a part of the story. It is a mix of action, romance and sentiments. Lingusamy deserves unstinted praise for his hard work”.

On his part Lingusamy said, “I marveled at Vikram's performance. He is a talented actor, who impressed me a lot”.

two songs are really good, ragasiya and enadhuyirae (HJ used ARR's style with lots of tabla beats). anyone else notice the starting of ragasiya is just like suttum vizhi, i earlier mentioned that he moved away from suttum vizhi, i guess not this song is definitely inspired from mayilirage... the others are (this is his style, cant stand it.)

Overall, it's a nice album, but it definitely not does compare to HJ's past memorable albums like Minnale and Saamy.

now let me illustrate prassana's point:
if ARR is IR then HJ is Deva. If saying IR>>>>Deva makes sense, then saying ARR>>>>HJ also makes sense. The reason why this comparison is possible is because Deva and IR have same style -- except Deva uses a bit more newer instruments because of the time period -- which is also the same reason why ARR and HJ comparison is possible (but in this case ARR always uses newer instruments/sounds and HJ just uses it after him). If you notice carefully for harmonizing ARR used to use keyboard (synth sounds) and then he moved on to guitar type sounds (Kandukondein Kandukondein, SOK, RDB, snehidane etc) and now HJ is also doing the same.

ARR went contradictory to IR and still got the attention of India and the World -- which made him the genious that he is. Whats HJ doing? He is going parallel to ARR -- imitating everything that ARR does, so its very easy to compare them. Do you understand now?

Bheemaa Music Review

Bheemaa - Novel and nice
IndiaGlitz [Wednesday, August 15, 2007]
Vikram to this day maintains that the song ‘Moongil Kadugale’ in his film Samurai is the closest to his heart. That was set to tune by Harris Jayaraj. Saamy, among Vikram’s movies, has had the best of numbers. Again that was the handiwork of Harris. But when these two films arrived there weren’t any great expectation. But when the audio of Bheemaa, once more in the combination of Vikram-Harris, the scenario is slightly altered. The anticipation is high because of the track record that the duo in-tandem enjoys.

Bheemaa has been in the making for quite a while and, almost uncannily, most delayed films’ music has a touch of melancholy in it (or is it our imagination?). In some respects, Bheemaa resolves this quandary, and underscores that the idea of sadness is mostly a creation of the mind. Bheemaa’s songs ----- reflecting the kind of mix that we have come to expect from Harris ---- are energy-filled without ever degenerating to the level all-out mass madness. Tamil film songs of recent vintage have been guilty erring on the side of stridency, and the rhythms are dominating and drowning (others).

Bheemaa doesn’t go for the jugular as the attempt is not to satisfy music fans. The idea here seems to have been to provide good music, which anyway the aficionados are bound to like. The music is unmistakably Harris’ (some might accuse him of being slightly repetitive here) as his method and mix is more than par.

Harris has also experimented, or at least seems to have, with his orchestration as the alignment is more holistic. It is not often that you get to hear the soothing strains of dilruba, sarangi, santoor, sitaar in every-day film music (especially of the mass genre). But Harris has with an insidious impishness has managed to wove it in.

There are six numbers in the album (running to 32.7 minutes).

Oru Mugamo

Krish and Naresh Iyer voices represent the gem next of Tamil film music. Both these youngsters croon out a heavy-rhythmed (slightly predictable) belter. It is difficult to identify who is singing at a given point, but the overall impression is adequate and acceptable. It is not clear why the music director needed two voices. The lyrics, by Pa Vijay, talks evocatively of the valor of the hero. Perhaps the introduction song or some kind of background lilts to the hero’s heroism. The slightly stylized number is on the whole passes muster.

Mudhal Mazhai

The song typically starts with Harris’ fond humming with gibberish phrases. Almost all his films have a number with this kind of start. It is nice to hear Hariaharan at his best with lilting inflexions and voice feints in place. Mahathi, in company, handles the heavy challenge with relish. The number has a hazy slowness and Na Muthukumar’s sweet words deserve this breather. The interludes are interesting as Harris has fiddled around with multi instruments. There is also the name of R Prasanna in the credits. Except for the initial and intermittent humming there doesn’t seem to be third voice. And that too seems to be a lady’s. So that begs the question: Is Prasanna a woman?

Rangu Rangamma

The first two words confirm the genre. The start, with strong woody rhythms, heightens the anticipation. It is then when Vijay Yesudas, the most unlikely of choice for such a number, breaks into a Bachchanesque heavy-throated rendering. Vijay Yesudas’ participation is however minimal, but he acquits himself handsomely. The bulk of the crooning is left to Kailash Kher, and his earthy vocals (with a wisp of sorrow hidden somewhere) are very good. For a man who has made a name for himself with rustic and folksy Hindi songs, Rangu Rangamma is a good challenge. And he is up top it. Swarnalatha of course is veteran of this genre and she is full pep and poise. A foot-stomping energy runs through the number that Pa Vijay has written with kid-like enthusiasm.

Ragasiya Kanavugal

Hariharan and Madhushree, in a sense, represent the sweetest of throats in film singing today. And it is just the kind of number they will relish as Harris has chosen an easy-flowing tune with pregnant pauses and the tempo is more gondola than speed boat. The violin and quaint beats add a bizarre but beautiful patch. The mixing is Rahmanesque, especially in places when Hari’s voice is made to hum in the background. There is decidedly a touch of Sadhana Sargam in Madhushree’s voice. Yugabharathi’s words whip up the sentiments of cozying up lovers with élan.

Siru Parvayale

Karthik begins with his typical verve. Harris has made him sound bolder than he is usually. The result is interesting, and worthy of the attempt. Harini, back after some time, is as full of frothy excitement. The combination mostly works in this every-day tune, which doesn’t hold any surprise. Thamarai, a Harris favorite, pens a thoughtful love ballad that is suffused with emotion. The music does justice to that.

Enadhuyirae

The real pick. With three female voices ---- Chinmayi, Sadhana Sargam, Sowmya Raoh (it is difficult to pick out them in the number) — and one male voice (the Airtel Super Singer Nikhil Mathew), it is a combination that is present with possibilities. Harris uses them all and has strummed a very different moody number. The inherent passion is well brought out by (I think) Chinmayi right at the start. Nikhil Mathew (perhaps his debut number) gets the emotions right in his voice. What he lacks in resonance is compensated by his expression to Yugabharathi’s powerful words. The tune lingers like mist on a cold morning at a hill side resort.

All in all, Bheemaa is a heavyweight.

out of that my fav is enathuyirae, altho the other songs r nice, whenever i hear AR Rahman's sound in other MDs songs, my interest just drops. Muthal Mazai is kuluvaalile, ragasiye is suttum vizhi ( i hate listening to the same soundds over and over again, thats why i am a fan of ARR because he produces new sounds everytime) siru parvayalae (its alright but still dont like these type of songs). Enadhuyirae is real good

Bheemaa goes the Kireedam way

Taking few lessons from Kireedam, director Lingusamy has reportedly changed the climax of Bheema even before the release of the movie.

Initially the director had shot the climax in such a manner that the male protagonist (Vikram) dies.

However after Kireedam fiasco, Lingusamy in order to make Vikram fans happy has reshot the climax.

According to sources, ‘The original climax has been totally changed and now the film concludes with a happy ending. The hero will emerge triumphant in his battle with the baddies’.

The audio of Bheema. which was released last week, is topping the audio charts.

Of late issues relating to settlement of dues has been rearing its ugly head in Kollywood too. With Ameer dragging the Sivakumars to the court, it looks like Vijayakanth will also follow suit quite soon. This is Harris power in the audio market. Says a top music label chief: “Harris is definitely the number one music composer in Tamil cinema, basically because he takes time over his compositions and has something new in each album which catches the imagination of the listeners.”

In Bheema album, the number which has caught the masses is Rangu Rangamma…, the Kailash Kher, Vijay Yesudas and Swarnalatha which is said to be the item song in the film. What has made it popular is the drum beats in the beginning, which is awesome as a crescendo is built for the song.

The pick of the audio for Harris fans is Ragasiya Kanuvukal… and Muthal Mazhai…, both lilting melodies which may top the charts later, once the song video of the film appears on television. Harris does a lot of homework, before the final mixing. When we spoke to Vikram he says that all the songs are his favourite though Muthal Mazhai… is his pick.

Remember Harris has just three films on hand at the moment- Vaaranam Aayiram, Sathyam, Dhaam Dhoom, while other music directors at any given time commits to 10 or 12 films at a time!

How can quality music evolve if you compose for 50 songs a year? Harris` policy of doing very few films at the same time being the costliest music director in Tamil has paid off in a big way!

I don think it's applicable in Vikram's case. Vikram's movies (most of the times) demand him to change his look/getup. So, its obvious tha he can't act in other movies simultaneously.

P.S Recently, it hapen 2 Surya where he tried to act in VA and Vel at the same time.

Produced by A M Rathinam and directed by Lingusamy, 'Bheemaa' went to floors almost two year ago. Starring Vikram and Trisha in lead roles, 'Bheemaa' has been lying in the cans for long time. The trailer of ‘Chiyaan’ Vikram’s eagerly awaited Bheema was premiered on Kalaignar TV on Monday (Dec 11). The initial response to the 4 minutes 30 second trailer has been “awesome”!
Karunamoorthy of Ayngaran International was so impressed with the trailer, that he requested the producer of Bheema, A.M Ratnam to allow him to screen it along with the theatre print of Billa which releases on December 14. Ratnam readily agreed, as it will also reiterate the fact that the film will now release for Pongal.

Hats off to Karunamoorthy, for his magnanimous gesture to release Bheema, trailer which will now be screened with Billa in 72 screens across the world. Let us also hope that the Tamilnadu distributors of Billa will also show some consideration and show the Bheema trailer with .

Hollywood started the trend of showing the trailer of a big film along with the theatrical copy of another biggie. Later Yash Raj Films did an excellent job of it by showcasing their next release trailer along with their new releases. Today trailer of UTV’s big-budget Hrithik- Aishwarya starrer Jodha Akbar was shown along with Shahrukh Khan’s Om Shanti Om.

Why can’t we start the trend in Kollywood? The stars and producers also should realize that it is not the star who gets mileage from showing the trailer of a competing actor, but industry as a whole who gains from a hit film. There is also a precedent in Tamil films, the superstar Rajnikanth himself promoted his next animation film Sultan-The Warrior trailer along with Sivaji theatrical prints.

Pras, did you see the 4 minutes 30 seconds trailer on Kalaignar TV. I saw the Indiaglitz trailer which is for 1 minute 58 seconds. Trailer looks promising. So Jan 14th, Bheema is going to release.

"Periyavar" Raghuvaran, "Chinna" Prakash Raj, "Commissioner" Aashish Vidyarthi and "Sekar aka Bheema" VIKRAM.

So this is going to be a action thriller, I guess after seeing the trailer.

No comedy in the film. The only cooling effect is going to be from "Shalini" Trisha.

Pras, did you see the 4 minutes 30 seconds trailer on Kalaignar TV. I saw the Indiaglitz trailer which is for 1 minute 58 seconds. Trailer looks promising. So Jan 14th, Bheema is going to release.

"Periyavar" Raghuvaran, "Chinna" Prakash Raj, "Commissioner" Aashish Vidyarthi and "Sekar aka Bheema" VIKRAM.

So this is going to be a action thriller, I guess after seeing the trailer.

No comedy in the film. The only cooling effect is going to be from "Shalini" Trisha.

You can add Varalaaru (a.k.a god Father) to that list. Trailer looks promising but DEFINITELY you can't judge a 2-1/2 hour movie by a 5 min trailer. Let's hope Bheema to be good and the trailer doesn't decieve us.

A year long wait for fans of Vikram has finally come to an end with his Bheema all ready to grace the screens. This long pending project was in the cans for myriad reasons and every festive occasion that passed seemed like a possible release date.

The censors have cleared this movie on the 31st of December and given it ‘A’ certificate for some graphic violence and Bheema is all ready for release in the Pongal weekend.

In the midst of all this, there was also a buzz that Bheema may not make it for Pongal and that it would only see a late January release owing to some pending financial issues. All this was put to an end today with the producers claiming that the film is on schedule and will hit the theatres on January 11th in order to cash in on the six day long Pongal weekend. The financial mess which was dogging the film has been settled by London Karunas of Ayngaran films. It has been reported that notices have been issued to Vikram’s fan clubs to start decorating the theatres on the 10th itself. Vikram fans can heave a big sigh of relief now that Bheema is finally arriving with a big bang this Pongal.

Very excited about BHEEMA! I'm sure it'll be a great comeback for Vikram... Hope it makes it as big as SAAMY or DHOOL at the BO too!

Would have been even nicer if it had released during Diwali or Dec in 2007 itself... It would have placed it so that 2007 would have seen atleast one release of all popular stars except Kamal! Well if 10A was also out in 2007, then it would have been one of the best years in Tamil cinema...

this is what they call thillu! but at the same time, they could have been more explanotory. For example, Oscar Ravi said abt dasa story that its not an sentimental story, love story ect a long list indeed. almost some 10 story knots. now the user is really left in confusion. likewise they should have given an text intro for why they think its tough to beema story.

Today’s (Jan 10) evening Tamil papers have carried Bheema ads with release date- January 15 Pongal! It looks like finally the film is getting out of its deep slumber and hitting the screens on Pongal day.
The buzz is that due to the hard work and determination of Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) and Chiyaan Vikram’s ‘never-say die’ spirit, Bheema will see the light of the day! Added to that, Karunamoorthy of Ayngaran International went out of his way to salvage the film, and save the day for Vikram.

‘Bheemaa’, one of the most anticipated movies in recent times is all set to rock the USA. Bharath Creations has acquired the distribution rights. The film is opening with 10 prints in 10 major centers in the United States. While the Tamil version will hit the screens on 15th itself, the Telugu version will be released after a few days.

Eight films were originally planned to release for Pongal and now the list has been pruned to five due to lack of theatres and coming of Bheema. In most of the B & C centers atleast two of the five cannot have simultaneous release, and in big towns the Vikram action movie is being given priority and more number of shows over others.

In Tamilnadu, the trade is run on Minimum Guarantees (MG) provided by the theatres. And everywhere Bheema is able to get attractive MG's, while others are offered only a pittance. The films now scheduled for release on Pongal day (Jan 15) are- Bheema, Kaalai, Palani, Pirivum Sandhipum and the big surprise Vazhthukal is back in the Pongal race.

Seventh Channel Narayanan, the producer of Indiralokathil Naa Azhagappan , which had confirmed theatre bookings and decent MG's, in a nice gesture to A.M Ratnam and his Bheema has made way. Now the Vadivel film which carries super reports will go for a solo release on January 26.

Pyramid Saimira who was in the race to procure Bheema Tamilnadu rights feel piped that another corporate Ayngaran had taken it. In areas like Coimbatore and Salem where they control the maximum screens, they will play Bheema only on their terms, which means no MG. And to feed their theatres they have brought back Vazhthukal which they are distributing back into the Pongal race.

Yeah, I too feel that they will release it on thursday or a Friday. Hopefully they will play the movie in century 10 Berryesea(like Billa). Its a far better theatre and especially acoustics is very very good. Movie watching experience was good for me last time there. IMC6 sucks big time. Horrible seats, unclean, Thee potti size theatres and below average sound systems. Moota puchi thaan illa. Indha otta odasal theatre ku $11 konjam jaasthi!

Good News for all you 'Chiyaan' Vikram fans, his Bheema overseas prints have left Chennai's Adlabs where it is being printed on Saturday (Jan 12) evening!

In overseas, places like Malaysia and Gulf it will have to undergo local censoring on Monday. The film is the only one among Pongal releases which will have a simultaneous release with India.

The advance booking for Bheema opened in Chennai today (Sunday, Jan 13) morning, and it has been fantastic. Sathyam Cinemas is having nine shows daily till January 20, five shows daily at the big screen plus daily morning shows in four smaller screens.

'Abirami' Ramanathan says: "Bheema is sold out for the first four days all four shows in Abirami's two screens with a capacity of 1520 seats. I would say it is a fantastic opening and this Pongal there is no competition to the Vikram entertainer".

At Mayajaal multiplex on ECR in Chengalpet area, Bheema is being given the pride of place, with an unbelievable 30 shows a day spread across its 9 screens including three new screens that are slated to open for Pongal. The first public screening of Bheema is likely to start at Mayajaal on Thai Masam-1, at 6.30 in the morning, a very auspicious day which is also the Pongal day.

In suburban areas in Chengalpet bordering Chennai city, theatres are likely to start the film from 6.30 am. But all of them are worried that the film is a little too long at 3 hrs 6 minutes, which means they will not be able to have more number of shows!

Ajit's Billa distributor Pyramid Saimira is preparing to battle the threat faced from Bheema distributed by Ayngaran International through local distributors in Tamilnadu.

Billa collections have come down, but Pyramid wants the theatres that it controls, to continue screening the film now in its fifth week. And in places they have two screens in the same complex they are aggressively promoting their own Pongal release Madhavan's Vazhthukkal! While in other areas Bheema have got most of the screens showing Billa.

In Coimbatore at the prestigious Archana and Darsana ( all Vikram hit movies have been screened here) both Pyramid controlled theatres, Bheema has not been given playing time, and instead they are screening Vazhthukkal and Kaalai! Still Bheema has managed good theatres like Senthil, Central, Carnatic and Ganga.

In Chennai, Billa holds on to Albert, where Vikram's Anniyan created history!

Will Bheema & Co have an impact on Billa & Co?

Although the box office this weekend is rife with movies that gross fairly well – and one even rising to the stature of a super hit – come Pongal, they face stiff competition from more than half a dozen movies. Pongal, as is customary to many festivals in South India, witnesses stampedes of movies at theaters. To cash in on the long weekend, it is only natural that producers decide to flood the theatres with releases.

The main contenders of the Pongal race that could pose a threat to the existing players would be Bheema, Kaalai and Pirivom Sandhipom. Not to mention, Vadivelu is back with his comic caper Indralogathil Na Azhagappan. Trade hasn’t quite forgotten what business he has done with his earlier outing as ‘Imsai Arasan’. Then there is the Perarasu directed formula fare Pazhani with Bharath in the lead. Given the fact that both Bharath and Perarasu are desperate for a hit, Pazhani’s credibility at the box office needs to be trusted. That apart, we have the mushy (as in - romantic entertainer) Vazhthukal starring Madhavan and Bhavana and Pidichirukku with debutants.

Of the existing movies, frontrunner Billa has been showing acceleration in its business every week. Although already declared a hit, Billa’s business could face a blow with new releases flooding the theaters for Pongal. That leaves us with two more hits that are still running at the box-office. Them being Polladhavan and Vel. Having made enough moolah already Pongal could mark the swan song of Polladhavan and Vel.

Now it all depends on the new releases to decide the business at the ticket counters. Will they live up to their hype and hoopla or just prove to be storm in a coffee cup? It doesn’t anyways take too long to find out with Pongal just around the corner. Come back on Friday for Behindwoods Top 10 movies at the box office. Bheema Movie Review

Bheema became one the longest awaited Tamil movies of recent times not just for the hype it created but also for the time it took, from completion to release. And when a movie is usually this delayed, the hype and hoopla surrounding it fizzles out, but Bheema only became bigger with expectations rising with each passing day. There are several reasons for this: One, this is Vikram’s first movie after two years. Two, Vikram and Trisha pair up for the first time since the extremely successful Saami. Three, Bheema is Lingusamy’s follow-up to the stupendously successful Sandakozhi. And four, Harris Jeyaraj’s soulful songs. But here’s the lowdown: in spite of all the above reasons, the movie doesn’t quite live up to its colossal hype

In Bheema, Vikram plays a man who has, since childhood, idolized Prakashraj, a gangster with a heart of gold. Vikram grows up to become a no-nonsense, street smart, powerful young man. Impressed with his courage, Prakashraj embraces him, inducting him into the gang. And with Vikram as his right hand man, Prakashraj gradually becomes the godfather of the city. He even outrivals his archrival, Raguvaran. Filled with rage, Raghuvaran and his two sons attempt to kill Prakashraj and take back the city. But with Vikram by his side they are unable to touch the newly crowned godfather. Meanwhile, Vikram falls in love with Trisha, and he becomes so lost in love that he loses focus and concentration on the job, nearly threatening the life of his idol. Vikram is now forced to choose between work and love. What Vikram will choose forms the rest of this tale.

On some level Bheema bears a striking resemblance to Maniratnam’s Dalapathy. As director, Lingusamy succeeds in provoking riveting performances from all the actors, but as scriptwriter he’s not as successful in keeping us involved. From the first reel to the last reel Bheema is packed with the sound of gunfire and fisticuffs – the wirework and action scenes are stunning but as the movie winds down, the relentless violence gets to you. The first half is full of incident but the pace slackens in the second half, no thanks to some inappropriate song placement that spoils the fun. Bheema is full of style but little substance. As in all our masala entertainers, logic takes a back seat, especially during the fight sequences. A gravity-defying stunt in a shopping mall restroom is close to being preposterous. However, when Bheema is not about gunfire and fisticuffs, Linguswamy handles several scenes deftly. The scene where a very drunk Vikram spoils a birthday party and talks back to the police commissioner is unforgettable for Vikram’s magnificent acting and some well penned dialogues.

Prakashraj, as always, comes up with a topnotch performance. His role is well etched and this versatile actor makes the most out of it. Vikram once again stuns us with his subtle body language, incendiary acting and skillful dialogue delivery. Trisha’s role is bubbly and this talented heroine makes the most of it, looking cute all through the film and ravishing in the song sequences. Raghuvaran delivers that slick, sly villain he is so well know for. Thalaivasal Vijay is competent, reminding you of the Iyer role Delhi Ganesh played so well in Nayagan. As the police commissioner, Aashish Vidyarthi is superb.

Technically, Bheema is brilliant. RD Rajasekhar’s cinematography is a treat for the eyes, especially the Mudhal Mazhai song, which is shot ravishingly. His camera work here is certain to win him laurels. Anthony’s editing is terrific except in a few places where it is not always seamless. The stunts by Kanal Kannan will be a major draw, particularly the fight sequence in the market place where slow motion is used to great effect.

Ahmed Khan’s choreography is understated and tasteful. Harris Jeyaraj’s music, of course, is very good. Unfortunately, some of his songs are inappropriately placed in the film, taking away some of the luster. However, “Oru Mugamo” and “Ragasiya Kanavugal” are memorable numbers that are also shot beautifully. For pure lovers of action, Bheema might just be the Pongal movie they are looking for, but those expecting an action movie with a strong story will be disappointed.

Verdict: Too much action, too little story

Bheema and its Lens man

R.R.Rajasekaran has had his brush with fame with an impressive gamut that includes Kaaka Kaaka, Sillunu Oru Kaadhal, Thotti Jaya, Manmadhan and Ghajini , his experience with the Bheema unit is something he’ll cherish forever. Lingusamy, the writer-director of Bheema, was so taken in by the technical team of Ghajini that he called up its cameraman Rajasekar, saying he wanted the entire crew back in action for Bheema.

So it is Antony’s editing, Rajeevan’s art and Harris Jeyaraj’s strains that will be in focus in Bheema, of course, through RD’s lens. The film is RD’s first with Vikram and Lingusamy. Just like the other directors he’s worked for, he was completely comfortable with Lingusamy. They have all given him the freedom a cinematographer needs. “For the first time in my career, here was a hero who would walk up to me after a shot and say, ‘Superb canning, RD!’ It wasn’t just me. Vikram was soft and polite to everyone till the final technician.

Sometimes at the end of a day’s work, he would call me up at around 11 in the night to say, ‘Your seventh shot today was out of the world! How have you planned the takes for tomorrow?’ The icing on the cake was when he said, ‘RD, in future we’ll plan things in such a way that you work with me always.’ The compliment was touching,” RD recalls.After the Bheema experience, Rajasekar decided to take up more offers .He is handling camera of Vishal’s Sathyam, Simbhu’s Kaalai and Sivaji Ganesan’s grandson Siva’s Singakutti. Surprisingly, the successful lens man with a Masters in Marine Biology wanted to study direction at the Film Institute.

Bheema is a right mix of action, romance, thrill and sentiment. Lingusamy’s screenplay treats the story visually and has allowed ample room for my creative urge. All of us have worked hard for Bheema. For Harris, it’s been 40 days of sweat and toil at the console for re-recording alone. The result cannot but be positive.

Bheemaa - Power packed entertainer

A lot has been told about the delay over Bheema. Some doomsayers even predicted that the movie would not see the light at all. But the team of Bheema was unperturbed. Vikram once said, "Bheema is a sure winner irrespective of when it comes. It is worth waiting for such a film".

Now the movie has seen the light and it has vindicated Vikram’s words.

The whole team deserves applaud for providing us a neat entertainer. Lingusamy, Vikram, Prakash Raj, Ashish Vidyarthi, Raghuvaran, Kanal Kannan, Harris Jayaraj, R.D. Rajasekar and S. Ramakrishnan have done their best to make it a smart and stylish action film. And you have the charming Trisha as a gentle breeze amidst a powerful storm.

The story is all about a tug of war between two underworld gangs trying to outsmart each other. Periyavar’s (Raghuvaran) group is bigger and more powerful, while Chinna’s (Prakash Raj) group is struggling to gain strength.

Enters Shekar (Vikram). The powerful man adds new life to Chinna’s gang. He challenges Periyavar’s powerful troupe and puts China on top. He is the man who grew up seeing Chinna as his ideal. He is a man of steel - physically and mentally. He, as Chinna tells once, bears everyone on his powerful shoulders like the Bheema of Mahabharatha.

The gangs are targeted by the new police commissioner (Ashish Vidyarthi) and the three pronged hunting begins.

Lingusamy has worked out a strong script and executed it with aplomb. He has excellently handled his cast to make it an entertainer. He has to be commended for not restoring to any gimmicks in the pretext of providing entertainment. He is also bold enough to avoid a comedy track, which would have been an irritant in the script.

The characterization is near perfect. Like the legendary Bheema, Shekar is always ready to attack, unmindful of who stands against him. If he puts a step forward, there is no looking back. Powerful, straight forward, and fearlessness. Lingusamy, with the able support of dialogue writer Ramakrishnan, has shaped the character remarkably well. The relationship between Shekar and China is well portrayed.

However, there are a few loopholes in the script. The boy of a powerless policeman seeing solid Chinna as his ideal is convincing. But the reason behind why he should become a ruthless gangster is not established well.

Likewise, his handling of the track of gang war, entwined with police action, is quite smart. But his presentation of love track is less convincing. The love between a thug and a middle class girl is a routine thing we could see in many films of this genre. The turning point over the love or the transformation of the protagonist because of his love is hard to digest. The climax is something unexpected. The picturisation of the songs is spectacular. But one song in the second half could have been avoided.

Vikram has lived up to the expectations with a dominant and flawless performance. If his hard work to become physically strong is praise worthy, his efforts to transform himself as the character are stunning. He reflects the essence of the character both physically and mentally. His body language - particularly his eyes - is awesome. He breaths fire in the stunt scenes. The fights in the rain and in the construction site (intermission point) are astonishing.

He also scores in romantic sequences, which are very less in this action packed movie. He brings out the transformation in his character because of love in a lovely manner. Hats off to Vikram.

Trisha gets her share in the action movie and succeeds in adding colour to the film by spreading her charm. She looks ravishingly beautiful in songs. Her eyes and minute facial expressions are pleasing.

Prakash Raj comes through out the movie. His character is so powerful that he looks like a second hero. The versatile actor has brought a new dimension to the character of a gangster.

Ashish Vidyarthi in a small yet significant role is competent. His portrayal of a smart police officer, who means business, is flawless. Raghuvaran as Periyavar impresses but his histrionics have become predictable. Sherin in ‘Rangu Rangamma’ is impressive.

Kanal Kanan (action) and Rajashekhar (camera) have added immense value of the film. Kanal’s setting up of the fighting sequences is certainly a treat for action movie lovers. Rajasekhar’s camera work is brilliant. The shooting of intermission fight in the darkness stands out.

Harris Jayaraj’s music, which is already on top, fits well in to the movie. Almost all the songs have come out very well.

Overall, Bheema has lived up to the expectations up to a large extent. Lingusamy and his powerful team have succeeded in presenting an action oriented entertainer. True to its name, Bheema is a power packed action entertainer.

Bheema: It's Vikram's show all the way!

Gang war! That's the latest from the Lingusamy-Vikram bastion, and they manage to tug you into the crossfire, after a fashion.

After many months of sky-high expectations, fits and starts and nerves tingling with anticipated pleasure, comes A M Rathnam's flashy Tamil venture, produced with state-of-the-art techniques and freeze frames that promise to dazzle you. That promise, at least, they manage to deliver.

While Chinna (Prakashraj) rattles the city as goon extraordinaire with a heart of gold, there strides into the picture, Sekar (Vikram) the man with muscles of iron and a heart full of none but Chinna himself -- he even has the man's name tattooed on his chest. Thalapathi, anyone?

A sharp, slick little flashback in Rameswaram -- young Sekar captures your heart as he slowly but surely begins his hero-worship -- sets the tone, and you settle down to enjoy their adventures. Together, they manage to rattle the bad guy -- known reverently and fearfully as Periyavar (Raghuvaran, spluttering and mouthing cliches throughout), who proves to be a surprising muff when it comes to trapping the Chinna-Sekar duo.

Sekar, who, even before Chinna gives a signal, crashes through his opponents with bare fists and blocks of wood with inimitable style, makes his mark as a supremely violent and mean-fisted thug.

Along comes Charu (Trisha [Images]), the peppy college sprite who encounters Sekar in his full villainy glory, fuzzy beard and all -- and falls for him. She follows him around, pokes bubbles in the air, sings a few songs and then, when he points his gun at her, disappears for a brief while to let the gang pick up the story again.

Running around Chennai with automatics in full view has never been this good. Shades of Kaakha Kaakha flit by your memory as close-cropped police officers plan an ambush. Naturally they end up groaning on the floors while Sekar, the one-man Bheema who single-handedly holds up the Chinna gang in the midst of opposition from Periyavar and the new Commissioner (Ashish Vidhyarthi in a tiny role that's a throwback to Dhil) walks away victorious.

The clop-clop of designer boots thudding over car-parks, bullets ricocheting and fists pounding get tedious after a while. Sekar always wins... but only with the aid of sheer brawn and muscle. There's no evidence of brain games or smart outwitting.

Prakashraj's Chinna is an endearing man who ought to have been a kindly professor but he fits into the role of a goodhearted rowdy so well that you cheer him on -- especially in the flashback scenes, and when he's in the throes of love. He's a little too emotional, though, to make a really good goonda -- which is why perhaps he needs so many satellites.

But it's clearly Vikram's movie all the way. The man is a star enough to shoulder the hefty role -- and you wish there had been more for him to do other than run around bashing up twenty men. He does woo Trisha well when he gets the chance. And when he, lost in a few moments of love-fantasy, falters in his duty, you see vintage Vikram. Ah, there he shines. But his reasons for walking away from his friend, philosopher and guide is flimsy, to say the least.

Trisha looks wan and tired in a couple of songs, but otherwise manages to carry off the bubbly girl in love. Lucky lass, as her parents don't say a word when she suddenly ups and leaves home; they're not even in sight! The director obviously felt that since this was a gang war-underworld movie, logic could go for a toss.

Hard to believe that dialogues have been penned by veteran writer Sujatha -- so many 'potturu' and 'thookidu' (kill/murder) words litter the conversations that you begin to yawn. It becomes worse when the Commissioner too, employs the same language.

Harris Jayaraj's music makes your feet tap for exactly two seconds. After that, you remember Ghajini, and promptly go down memory lane -- especially during the Mudhal Mazhai song.

The stunt director easily walks away with all the honours for the movie -- it's a bash fest, and he knows it.

Bheema has all the trappings of a blockbuster -- and it may yet become one. And yet, when you compare it to the panache and magic of a Saamy or a Dhil ... there's something definitely missing.

I dunno rediff always makes it a point to trash Ajith and Vijay movies. They gave 2&1/2 stars for Billa and said it disappointed Big time.

Same 2&1/2 stars for Bheema and says it has potential trappings for Blockbuster.

A COMPLETE MOVIE REVIEW OF BHEEMA STARRING VIKRAM AND TRISHA

Bheema has been finally released and it is rejoice time for all Vikram and Trisha fans.This action packed movie features Chiyan Vikram , Trisha ,Prakash Raj , Sherin and Raghuvaran.Getting straight to the review in Bheema we see Vikram as a vibrant and powerful youth who idolizes Prakash Raj a don known for his golden heart. Recognizing the potential in Vikram , Prakash Raj decides to pull him into his gang. Prakash Raj with Vikram by his side begins to dominate the city and over powers Raghuvaran whose efforts to kill Prakash Raj always seem to end in vain. Amidst all these action Bheema falls in love with Trisha and how he balances his love for Trisha and his gratitude towards his Godfather Prakash Raj forms the rest of the story.

Vikram is back after almost two years and infact he has returned in grand style. With his muscular body and his macho look there can be no other hero in Kollywood who could have played his role any better. Trisha is a visual treat and this cute heroin has given everything she has in store to the character she portrays.Prakash Raj has lived up to the expectations of all his fans and stars opposite to Raghuvaran who is seen playing his usual guileful role as a villian. Except for a few gravity defying stunts that seem a little artificial Kanal Kannan has done a great job as a stunt master.The cinematography and editing are excellent and this film is sure to win laurels for cinematographer R.D.Rajasekhar.

Now coming to the let downs in the film though the songs composed by Harris Jeyaraj are great some of the song sequences in the second half of the film seem a bit incongruous.Lingusami as the director has extracted the most from all his actors but his role as a script writer could have been done better.The action sequences in the film are excellant but the film as a whole lacks substance.For people who are interested in films relying more on style and action than on story Bheema is DEE best pongal release but for the rest the film falls a few stars short.

Rating :- 3/5 (minus 2 for the misplaced songs and lack of a strong story base.)

You woudn't say this if you would have read the review for Anbe Sivam! Rediff tore AS apart and implied it was a *junk* movie!
