Varalaaru was a bit of clever mix of old + new. There were many interesting sequences that brought out the other side of Ajith. (Performer).

As far as AALWAAR is concerned, it is better than GF since it is a much better family entertainer than Varalaaru IMO

But as a complete film, Varalaaru will win hands down over aalwaar.

But aalwaar is not yet another PMS, TPT etc stuffs. It is pretty neat and decent IMO. NO cheap comedy, NO vulgar double meaning dialogues, less violence etc.

But have to say this.. for the last 30 mins, the director needs a hammer except the fight sequence in a factory. Fights are realistic as well. The negative thing can be the dejavu feel one can get in the sequences at the end of the flashback !

and Just for the dashing look of AJITH - I watched the movie.

But I hate to say this : thala should go for interesting scripts than stuffs like this especially after movies like Varalaaru, Villan etc

I am not sure how they are going to remake Kireedom since they have just taken a leaf out of it. As far as Billa is concerned, even if it is too good, people will be more keen in criticising the movie. But Billa will be a sure SUPERHIT / BLOCKBUSTER !

Seems Thala should concentrate on screenplay too in these movies.

Aalwar release on saturday here, but Pokkiri screened 4 shows already on Friday because of late release of Aalwar.

So far from all the news I am hearing Aalwar is doing good business, I am not worried about the winner , all I want is Aalwar to be a hit thats all I care. Onething I clearly understand movies need to promote well in order to reach the audience. Ajith movies never get promoted, which is sad. I am amazed by the fans who are following him as their Idol. Its great. Friends keep up the good work and keep making ajith's movies HIT.

seen azhwar just now my review

First half is good.. Second half is Good too but the first half is much better i guess... as second half u can guess whats gonna happen next

+ Ajith Only, less Violence , maile maile song:), teh movie clearly justifies the Punch dialogue.

Climax let me down ... wht the hell happend an explosion and then a Fax :O
-How could he survive 3 hits on the head ... mebbe a treatment or somesort no GOD's blessing okkk acceptable .. but no scar?? ( i hated this in Aathi too when the shirt burns but nothing happens to Vj or the shirt, Only kamal in VV had a scar ) not much worried abt that.
-Story seems to a Mixture of Citizen and Gentleman

overall i think this movie is better then Thirupathi but no way better then Varalaru!!!

How many of you saw today's program at Raj TV morning 8 AM?

Director of the movie Aazhwar, Chella was interviewed after the success of Aazhwar at the box office.

He told that Aazhwar was made at a shoe string budget....8 crores to 10 crores and [cinesouth news]out of which 2 crores was returned to the producer by Ajith due to the Distributor - Producer clash because of the low tickets rates in Tamil Nadu enforced by the present govt.

Director Chella has given some nice information about Ajith during the interview. He was saying Ajith has done a marvellous job and Ajith was happy at the outcome of the movie and appreciated Chella after the dubbing of the movie.

Ajith had told Chella that the new directors lives depended on him entirely. So, Chella had a big responsibility in handling Aazhwar. FYI, Ajith is the only person who encourages new comers and FYI, Kireedom and Billa will be handled by a new comer director. AL Vijay for Kireedom and Vishnuvardhan for Billa 2007.

Though Vishnuvardhan has directed Aridhum Ariyamalum and Pattiyal, it was with the new actor Arya and an upcoming actor Bharath, but this is the first time Vishnuvardhan is going to direct with an established star Ajith.

Films that made Ajith - The Ultimate Star

9) Villan
The star�s final hit till date and again he did a dual role under the hands of K.S.Ravikumar. The film is totally a commercial film with five songs, some breath-taking fights, sentiments and all such ingredients mixed for a perfect masala film. Though, Ajith proved his ability in the role of a physically handicapped. Kiran and Meena played the female lead. He once again received the filmfare award for this film and he also won the state award.

8) Citizen
Though the film was not a big hit it made some wonders in the film industry. For, the first time appeared in seven different make-ups for the film. Each of the roles is different and the body language for each of the role was also diverse. Ajith with his full stab did the movie but it ended up in vein. The full credit goes to Saravanan Subbiah, the introducing director of the film.

7) Dheena
A complete action packed film! Ajith appeared in a different make-up for the first time. He took up a role of rogue. The film Dheena directed by the debutant director A.R.Murugadoss paved way to success to both of them. The punch dialogues delivered by Ajith in this film are still even remembered. Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the music and this was the first time Ajith was doing some westernized musicality. Ajith seemed little bit chunky in this film but still he looked smart.

6) Mughavaree
This is also by a debut director director, Doorai. You must have seen a different Ajith in this film. A soft person in a middle class family whose aim is to become a music director.
In this script Ajith�s character is picturised as a person next to your house. Jyotika played the female lead. The others in the cast are Raghuvaran, Sithara and Rajiv. The songs were extremely good and music was done by Deva. Nobody can forget Ajith�s mind-blowing performance in this film!

5) Amarkalam
For the second time Ajith joined hands with Saran and the film was again ended up in a great victory! This is Ajith�s 25th movie. This might be an unforgettable movie for Ajith, because Shalini who was the heroine for the film became his life partner. Ajith played a different role in this picture, a dada. He would do anything for the purpose of money and his survival. It is also a love story but it is different, finding the soft corner in a rude person. The other plus of this movie is Raghuvaran. Bharadwaj handled the music and �Sathamilathaa� song sung by S.P.B was marvelous.

4) Valee
Again, the debut film for director S.J.Suryah! This shows his attitude and has enlighted the lives of many such directors. For, the first time Ajith took up double act, playing the role of twin brothers. An excellent and outstanding performance! The character played by Deva was well portrayed and an incredible acting, especially the scenes with Simran, in which she played the female lead. Deva scored the music and the songs were again a great knock. Ajith received the filmfare award for this particular movie and he also received so many honors for this movie.

3) Kadhal Mannan
The debut film for director Saran! In this film Ajith played a multi- faceted hero. He had love sequences, outstanding comedy scenes with Vivek, some fight sequences and wonderful emotional scenes! Particularly, the climax scene is implausible, considering the emotional point of view. New comer Manu played opposite to Ajith. Karan and Krish Karnat also did justice to their role. Bharatway, the debutant music director did an first-rate job. The introduction scene of Ajith was really different and a big applause goes to the director.

2) Kadhal Kottai
The national award winning movie! The second success for the hero and from there he laid a strong foundation in his journey. The film had an excellent story line and the script was sturdily made by Ahathiyan. The others in the lead role are Devayani, Heera, Kiran and Thalaivasal Vijay. Again the music was scored by Deva and it was also a hit! Ajith, as a hero did a fabulous job and he was so appealing to see! Especially, when Heera invites him to the dinner and tries to make a proposal to him, the way he denies it. Wow! What a cute acting and cannot be described!

1) Aasai
Aasai was Ajith Kumar�s 15th film in which he tasted his first success. The film was directed by the expert director Vasanth and produced by Aalayam. The other cast includes Suvalaksmi, Prakash Raj, Rohini and Vadivelu in the main lead. Ajith showed himself as a good actor through this movie. The songs had a great welcome among the audience and the music was scored by Deva. The success journey for the actor started from here!

The confusion of ticket rates was hanging like a 'Damocles sword' when movies were getting ready for release this Pongal.

The reduction in cinema ticket rates forced the theatre owners to come to a decision that in the name of minimum guarantee, no advance will be given to distributors.

Annoyed with the decision of the theatre-owners, the distributors had no other option but to approach the producers urging them to reduce the price of the movie for the areas.

In turn, the producers were compelled to turn towards the artistes urging them to refund a part of their remuneration to appease the distributors.

Now, it is reported that Ajith immediately paid heed to their request and returned a part of his salary that amounts to quite a sum. It may be recalled that on earlier occasions too, Ajith had cut down on his remuneration whenever crisis surfaced.

Generosity personified is Ajith.

இதற்கு அடுத்து நெட்டில் புகழ் பரப்பும் நம்ம சிஃபி இணையதளம். வரலாறை வெற்றி என்று அறிவிக்க அவர்களுக்கு மூன்று வாரங்கள் தேவைப்பட்டது. ஆனால் போக்கிரியை மூன்று நாட்களில் வெற்றி என்று பறைசாற்றி இருக்கிறார்கள். வரலாறைவிட குறைந்த லாபமே ஈட்டிய வேட்டையாடு விளையாடு கடைசியில் பிளாக்பஸ்டர் என்று சொல்லப்பட்டது. ஆனால் கடைசி வரை வரலாறு சூப்பர் ஹிட்டாகவே இருந்தது.

இப்போது தான் ஆழ்வார் படம் பார்த்தேன். இ-மெயில்களிலும் வார்த்தை வழிகளிலும் சொல்லப்படுகின்ற மாதிரி..இல்லை இல்லை.. பரப்பப்படுகின்ற அளவு படம் மோசம் இல்லை. முதல் முறை இயக்குவதால் இயக்குநர் செல்லா சில தவுறுகளை செய்திருக்கிறார். ஆனால் எல்லோரும் சொல்வது போல் இல்லை. அஜித் இது போன்று புது இயக்குநர்களுக்கு ஆதரவு தந்தது போன்று வேறு யாராவது தந்திருக்கிறார்களா என்று சொல்லுங்கள்.. கிட்டதட்ட பதினெட்டு படங்கள் அஜித்திற்கு புது இயக்குநர்கள் இயக்கியது தான். சும்மா அடுத்தவர் ஜெயித்ததிலே, அவர்களை நகலெடுத்து நடிப்பது ஒன்றும் பெரிய விஷயம் இல்லை. தன்னை போன்றே வெற்றி பெற துடிக்கும் பல பேருக்கு வாய்ப்பு தந்தவர் அஜித். எஸ்.ஜே.சூர்யா முதல் ஏ.ஆர்.முருகதாஸ் வரை புதுமுகங்கள் தான், அவர்கள் முதல் படங்களை எடுக்கும் போது. இவர்களை எல்லாம் நம்பிக்கையோடு அரவணைத்திருக்காவிட்டால் இவர்கள் இன்று முகம் காட்டியிருக்க முடியுமா? அப்படி கொடுத்தது தான் செல்லாவுக்கும் வாய்ப்பு. அந்த வாய்ப்பையும் அவர் சரியாகத் தான் பயன்படுத்தி இருக்கிறார். There had been a lot of stories very similar to this earlier .... ella padathayum sethu pottu senjadhu .... kadhai may not be very strong in the movie..... similar concept aaga irundhaalum vithiyaasamaa sollirundhaa, it would have really proved ..... but marupadiyum adhe maadiri solradhu, did not go so good with the movie ....nirayaa idathula anniyan nyaabagam varudhu ....

Well let me see wat Kireedom has in store for Thala ...

Joe - 100% true. But not for all movies. There are movies that have become popular coz of this and there are movies that have disappeared coz of this. Many examples are there. You can project a FLOP movie as a HIT through all the channels and the impact is huge

I beleive star actors movies hit or flop based on the response from non-fans of that actor .Most fans of star actors never failed to watch their star's movies .So fans won't make much different .when non-fans of that actor came to know movie is good ,it became hit ,otherwise movie will be flop.

There are many movies praised by media (Eg Anbe sivam ,Hey Ram) but flopped since general audience didn't like it.

2 Weeks back I saw the program "Neengal Ketta Padal by Vijay Sarathy" in Sun TV.

Normally he asked the each one the family members about their favoirite Actor/actress and show clippings of those actors/actress.

Some one in the family said "Ajith is appropriate for Particular role". They didnt show any clippings. After that Some one said Dhanush/Simbu. They shown the clippings of Dhansh and simbu then.

They did this for 2 consecutive songs.

Ajith has come up with an outstanding performance in his latest movie Aalwar. The movie has had a great opening all over Tamilnadu where it has been screened. Following up with the success of Varalaaru, Ajit proves that he deserves the title "The Ultimate Star".
This is the second movie in which the successful pair Ajith and Asin are together. It is to be noted that the previous movie Varalaaru is creating a 'Varalaaru' in the Tamil industry by nearing the magical 100 days mark. It is also worth mentioning that this is another mother-son-sister sentiment after the blockbuster hit Tirupathi.

'Shiva' the character name for Ajith spells success as it has in most of his movies like Valee etc. How the character Aalwar, the priest changes into the character Shiva is the simple synopsis of this movie. Aalwar comes in an interesting role of a priest and he is very much attached to his sister and mother. Unfortunately Aalwar's sister and mother are killed by the villains Lal, Vincent Asokan and others. Aalwar is also pronounced dead but he comes back as Shiva, a ward boy in a government hospital. Shiva takes the role of Narasimha to take revenge and uses the punch line "Naan Kadavul" which creates a roaring applause in the theatres.

Asin is beautiful as always and she captures the screen by her presence. The songs of Asin and Ajith are picturized beautifully in Switzerland and the director needs to be applauded for this. Vivek comes and does a marvelous job along with Manorama. The music is good and the background score gives the audience a good experience. Overall Aalwar fulfills the expectations of the Ajith fans and is set to deliver the expectations of the Pongal Tiruvalizha.

Even before Aalwar’s release, Ajith has quickly moved on to his next film Kireedam to be directed by debu- tant director, Vijay. A song Kannodu Kan Serumbhodhu choreographed by the director himself was filmed on Ajith and Trisha recently at Rajamundhry’s Paper Mill Ground. A huge crowd of about 5,000 men and women had gathered there to catch a glimpse of Ajith and Trisha and they referred to them as Devuda (God). The unit had a tough time handling the crowd. Talking about the incident, Vijay said, “When finally we did manage to con- trol the crowd, we heard murmurs and had no clue from where it was origi- nating. Then we realised that hun- dreds of people who were sitting on all the trees were responsible for the hullabaloo. It became a mammoth task to bring them down from the trees.” According to him, all the songs are conceptualised well and none appear as forced. The songs are a natural pro- gression to the story. He was all praise for GV Prakash for the five songs that he has composed for his film.

Heroes nowadays pay attention not to disappoint fans. Ajith is a smart guy who knows what his fans expect from him. He has provided just that, even though most part the film moves on a formulaic pattern.

Coming after his big success of Varalaru, Ajith looks confidence personified and delivers his usual punch with poise. He looks at ease and elegant. The usual package of action, comedy, sentiments which an average film-goer expects are present too.

The story is the metamorphosis of a simple, straight forward ward boy Aalwar in a hospital, who becomes an avenging machine named Shiva. How does Aalwar end up as Shiva? Well, Aalwar is a traditional priest attached to his mom and sister. But villains Lal and Vincent Asokan finish off his sister and mother. This makes Aalwar rage with anger and seek revenge . He becomes Shiva, the killer, while working as a ward boy in a hospital.

Shiva is out to make a statement against the venal forces. He sees himself as some kind of avatar and even bumps off the baddies.

Woven into this simple masala story, is the love angle with Asin. Besides there is also the comedy of Vivek, which is indeed hilarious at times. Ajith�s character is very simple and he delivers it with his usual aplomb. His intensity when dealing with the baddies is realistic.

Asin is full of panache and shows her usual chirpiness. Vivek is back in his element and the comedy tracks carry his usual spark and spunk. The music and camera are okay without anything extra-ordinary. The director has not left down his fans.

Media is a blood-sucker. I noticed some family audiences liked the film, some Ajith fans didn't like it etc. And there was unnecessary negative reviews spreaded by people which the movie didn't really deserve.

You can bet your life on this. After Sivaji and Dasavadaram, Billa will be the biggest money spinner of the year without a shadow of a doubt. I didn't mean like that. What I mean to say there was: Ajith inspite of acting in a commercial movie, he makes his *performace* to be spoken. Even in a masala movies (successful ones), he gives fine performance.

Apart from this, in usual movies like Dheena he comes in as the normal guy with every action mannerisms and makes the film a hit. Oflate, his film are not so good like the commercial formulate he established with Villan, Dheena etc

He can give HITS with pretty ordinary movies as well as MASALA MOVIES PACKAGED WITH FINE PERFORMANCE.

Tell me any movies of other actors in that list (except Madhavan) where you saw their performance being spoken inspite of the movie being a masala.

I had a dream about the new Billa. Serious. It opens with scenes that looks like the old one, and suddenly the cinematography changes. I remember sitting with my dad and mom (watched Varalaru with them, in fact) and telling them, "No, I'm too scared. I am not watching this. You watch and tell me." I left and that's all. Dream ended.

Again, it would be tough for the BILLA team to satisfy everyone who belong to the period of RK-KH ! Again, it is a challenge. Something which you call it as "Do or Die". That requires some *guts* and I am sure the team will deliver it. Whether it is as good as the original (Don) or the remaked one (Billa) is altogether a different thing. Ofcourse, even if it is good, it will face lot of criticism. But I am sure my HERO will win it hands down coz whenever he plays a *negative character* he never lets anyone down and that includes us as well

Lot of movies have resemblance with this one since Malayaalam industry is known for giving good scripts for other industries though the scripts were ra**d enough by the respective industries

From trisha's interview, what I get is : They have taken the core of the story and it is a new one. The producer has bought the rights since he didn't want to face something similar to what happened during the release of Chandramukhi.

The film is expected to be unique in its own way though I prefer the original more. We need to wait and watch on how this turns out !

Our Thalai Ajit is a man who tries to keep his word, especially regarding his work. Last Monday, he had to start a schedule for the shoot of his Kireedam in Visakhapatanam and was supposed to fly from Chennai on Sunday afternoon.

But unfortunately Vizag airport was closed due to smog around the area. The shutdown is because the Navy-controlled airport lacks modern navigational facilities to guide civilian air traffic even in light smog conditions. So our hero was stranded at the Chennai airport.

The rest of the unit was already in Vizag, and crucial scenes featuring Ajit had to be shot. And there was no chance of the airport re-opening, with the smog around. Tickets on the night train to Vizag were not available and it was inconvenient as the train arrives only late afternoon the next day. Ajit was determined to reach Vizag against all odds. So our dare-devil hero just jumped into his car and decided to drive down all the way! Yes, he and two others working in the film took off in a Toyota Innova and took the Chennai- Kolkota National Highway 5.

They traveled through the night and drove non-stop ( only stopped at roadside dhabas to sip tea ) and reached Vizag early in the morning.

It was �Mission Impossible� achieved by the fastest race driver in Indian cinema, as he did the nearly 800 Kilometer drive in less than 12 hours! After a wash, Ajit reported for work, on schedule at 8 am.

Director charan after kadal mannan, went to visit ajith who was bed ridden due to an accident.. as per the doctor he cant even lead a normal life... but ajith told charan that he want to do another movie with him and he want it to be an action movie..
CHaran wondered abt his courage and ambition but though it would not be possible for ajith to even act in a movie... but as ajith said it happened and it became a big hit - amarkalam..

ajith gave back a part of his salaray quite a few times.. he did the movie aval varuvala for free for the producer..
Now in aalwar since the ticket rates are slashed he gave back a part of his salary..

I am not a great fan of ajith's looks (though he is the best looking actor in south india).. I am not a great fan of his acting (though he is the best contemporary actors, excluding kamal). I am not a great fan of his movies ( there are others who gave better movies than him)..

Another incident during the shooting of attagasam.. song sequences were shot in swiss.. and while returning.. the flight had a lot of problems, and shalini also traveled along with ajith.. when so much of screaming happened in the plane due to mechanical failures.. ajith took control of the entire suituiation and passified the shooting crew members..

then the plane was landed in another country and the corresponding plane was cancelled.. so when all the support staff of the crew were left stranded and when the producer refused to get new tickets for everyone.. Ajith instead of leaving everyone and coming back in another plane, prefered not to do that, intead he brought everyone with him in the next flight..

This is what is called as true leadership and accepting responsibility..

But i am a fan of ajith as a person.. for his courage, conviction, commitment, care for the society, honesty, humility and a winning attitude..

So, even if all his movies that are going to be released were failures, still he would be my hero.. because he dont belong to the genre of reel heroes, but he is a real hero...

proud to be his fan.. i am a fan of only two guys.. one is sachin and the other is ajith.. and it will be the same till my death..

I think sify is a pretty fair website. They go to a great extent to praise Ajith's acting/looks even when they give bad review for the movie.

Sify is trying to cover up its blunder by putting Ajith stories after doing injustice to Thala to cheat people that it is not biased. And will show its true color at prime time when Kireedam is released.

That article was touching...and I have no doubt that Ajith is a good guy by heart. I have NEVER said he was bad...but only arrogant (or too self-assured) before. Now he has even reduced that self-assurance. Some people might think that I'm acting or hate him but never have I ever said anything bad about his personality only his choice of movies and some things he has said regarding them.

Whatever I say regarding Vijay and Ajith is only movie-based for the most part, not personality based. But I have seen sites like sify & cinesouth (esp cinesouth) reporting good news about Ajith and his silent deeds many times. So just because they say one bad thing about one film doesn't mean that they are automatically biased websites supporting so and so. That's all.

Undeterred by the mixed response for his Aalwar, Ajith is busy shooting for Kireedom.

Keen to ensure that the movie clicks at the box office to help him sustain his top spot in the industry, the actor has been evincing keen interest in every department of the film.

Kireedom is produced by veteran actor-producer Balaji and is directed by a debutant V Anand.

Ajith is currently shooting at Vishakapattinam for the movie. A major portion of the movie involving Ajith, Trisha and Santhanam were shot. Vivek plays the other comedian. Music is scored by Veyyil fame G V Prakash.

I said for most part...Amarkalam I agree...In Dheena he was funny especially with Shreeman and Laila in the beginning. He was cute and energetic in the songs...Ajith was just amazing throughout the movie!

Finally saw Aalwar...

I have to say it wasn't as bad as some hubbers said it would be. It seemed similar to Paramasivan with revenge again as the backdrop but other than that it was an enjoyable film.

Ajith's intro scene was spectacular...I was awed by how much the classic Krishna attires suits him...At first I thought I would laugh but his posture and subtle actions just captivate you. Again he has a serious, can't- be -caught- smiling role, which I don't because as Vivek said in the movie...siricha avaru azhaga iruppari ana sirika mattari. I missed seeing the energetic, ethusiastic Ajith but again he needed an almost Zen-like serious conviction to his role, which he did with aplomb. He clearly carries the film on his shoulders.

Some Ajith fans were saying that Asin didn't care about this film/betrayed Ajith and all but she looks as bubbly as ever in this movie, especially in the songs. Her role is a little pathetic/unlikeable initally because she doesn't seem like a good person and her reasons for following Ajith are not really justified. The chemistry that the two shared in Varalaru is missing here due to the fact that the storyline and Ajith's character doesn't allow it. But towards the end, when Ajith gets arrested, both Ajith and Asin convey the romantic emotions through their eyes which was cute.

Vivek and Manorama were cute and definitely added to the proceedings. Keerthi Chawla just got lost in the whole screenplay I guess. I didn't even realize she was the other heroine until the "let's just be friends scene." The songs, hearing didn't really hook me, but the picturization was awesome, esp Sollitharava...Ajith and Asin looked adorable.

There were some slow parts here and there, but overall it was pretty entertaining and one can definitely see that hard work put into it. Even the violence wasn't too bad compared to Pokkiri...If this film has released after Thirupathi or something, it definitely would have become a hit I guess, but expectations were sky high after Ajith's fantastic comeback with Varalaru... Whatever it is, it's worth a watch or two.

In a recent interview to a private television channel, director K S Ravikumar was heard discussing many interesting anecdotes in his film career spanning more than a decade. While he was conversing about his recent successful film Varalaru with Ajith, he had many fascinating trivia up his sleeve which he was only too willing to share with the audience.

The story of Varalaru was initially written keeping Kamal Hassan in mind and was narrated to him. But some how, Tenali took over Varalaru and was completed. Then Ravikumar moved on to super star Rajnikanth and recounted the story. Incidentally, talks about Jaggubai surfaced but unfortunately it has to be dropped as the story had too many shades of similarities with Badshah. Then Chandramukhi happened for Rajni and the rest as they say is history. But apparently Rajnikanth was so impressed about the storyline of Varalaru that he expressed his desire to do this subject at a later date.

Meanwhile Varalaru was completed with Ajith in the lead and the film registered an emphatic victory at the box office and proved a milestone in Ajith�s career too. After witnessing Varalaru, super star on a lighter vein has remarked that Ravikumar should have waited for him to do Varalaru.

The reason why we (ajithfans) blame sify is : the way they treat ajith. IF they praise him a lot, then it is certainly obvious that they are going to PULL HIM DOWN. AFAIK, they have not given even a single positive review for his movies. Even if the movies deserve such thing, other movies which are being given as "Paisa Vasool", "Time pass", "good" etc verdicts also should carry the samething. SH!t.com acts as a neutral reviewer most of the time. But when it comes to their elite club (Ajith, KH etc), they never miss a chance to blame them.

BTW, Mission Impossible news is pretty much believable than some of the news that they carry for other stars. It is believable coz it is about a real time racer. IF this is about any one else, certainly it will look like a foolish news.

if you had seen the SS Music programme on Thala at 6 PM last Friday, Jan 26th 2007, Republic day, particularly note to the wordings of the anchor who hosts the show....he says that Ajith has got a very good expressive eyes and he emotes well through his eyes....

...awesome description....thats the power of thala....also you should listen to a man of arond 60 years (Who might have watched lots of NT movies in his youth)....He was saying that nobody other than Thala Ajith can do the roles of Vaali Deva (Dumb and Deaf) and Villain Vishnu (Handicapped role)

This is what I am thinking about. He just accepts whatever the director says / expects and delivers the same. Then he leaves it upto the director to choose from; whether to accept or reject. That is why directors like KSR, SJS, Durai, Charan etc are much more successful in bringing the best out of him. He never repeats what he did in the past. I didn't see him repeating "VaaLi" after that in movies like Mugavari, KKKK etc. All his performances were different completely.

This is one thing which no one will deny AS far as Thala is concerned. His body language and expressions are too good whenever given a role that needs them badly. Best examples will be Vaali and Varalaaru IF not Villan (comparitively).

Can Ajith's Kireedam match up?

It is an ideal, happy home. A police constable father, a mother devoted to her husband and children, an elder son waiting for the final interview to be inducted as a police inspector, and studious younger children. The father dreams of the day he can salute his son.
Everything goes awry when the father gets transferred to a new posting. When the elder son happens to see his father being hit by a goon, he jumps in and gets entangled in a street fight, for the first time in his life. The assailant is badly wounded, and that is the first time anyone in the village has stood up to the goon. Villagers hail the son as the next big hoodlum. Unwittingly, he gets involved in many more street fights and soon his name gets listed as one of the most wanted hoodlums.

This is the story of one of Mohanlal's most loved Malayalam films, Kireedam. Now, it's being remade into Tamil by his brother in law Suresh Balaji, with Ajith in the lead. With Kireedam, Adlabs enters the Tamil film world.

The original Kireedam was a film full of pathos, unforgettable moments and amazing performances -- by Mohanlal as Sethu, Thilakan as his father and Kaviyoor Ponnamma as his mother.
Mohanlal's performance was so heart-wrenching that even today, 18 years after the film was made, both young and old still talk about it. The film won the actor his first National Award in the form of a Special Jury award.

The film was such a huge success that producer Unni was christened 'Kireedam Unni'.
This was one of the first successful Lohitadas scripts, with his favourite theme of individuals getting dragged into situations for no fault of theirs -- in Thaniyavarthanam, Bharatam and many more of his films, destiny plays a major role in the lives of the protagonists. Situations arise in such a manner that his characters become just pawns in the hands of a power that is beyond all human understanding.

In Kireedam, Sethu had no control over his life or his future. Director Sibi Malayil and Lohitadas created many such unforgettable films in Malayalam.

The Tamil Kireedam is directed by AL Vijay, onetime assistant to Priyadarshan.

The original film featured many simple family moments, like the mother cooking her son's favourite food without her husband's knowledge, and the seemingly hard father shedding a tear for his son when alone.
What is poignant in the film is the love and understanding between the father and the son. Thilakan as the father and Mohanlal as the son really created movie magic.

"In Tamil, we have only Ravi Kiran who can do what Thilakan did in the original," Suresh Balaji said, about selecting the actor who gave a scintillating performance in Cheran?s Thavamai Thavamirundu.

The love track in the original between Mohanlal and Parvathi (Jayaram's wife) was quite understated and simple but in the Tamil, it has its strong points, Suresh Balaji told rediff.com. "We have to make changes in the presentation to suit the Tamil audience. The love track will be a little more strong, with songs," said the producer.
The Malayalam Kireedam did not have any songs except one in the background, Kannuneer poovinte sung by MG Sreekumar. It was with this song that Sreekumar became a name to reckon with, and the voice of Mohanlal.

The Tamil Kireedam soundtrack is by GV Prakash, AR Rahman's nephew who has had the impressive Veyil and Oram Po to his credit.

If Ajith?s Pongal release Aalkwar was a disaster, following the highly successful Varalaaru, he can take solace in the fact that he will now play a character that is extremely well written and powerful.
With Ravi Kiran, capable of stretching any artist, opposite him, we can expect a solid performance from Ajith.

Even if the Tamil Kireedam is half as good as the original, Ajith can expect a winner on his birthday on May 1, when the film is scheduled to hit the silver screen.

Have not seen the film but my frank opinion is that ajith lacks script sense.

Just look at vijay. Quality or not he is able to deliver hits.

It is high time ajith has a throrough re-look at the script before agreeing to do a film.

After varalaru, much was expected from ajith. Kalki in its review even said that hereafter it is Yerumugam for ajith.

But from the look of things, things seem to be bad.

The reason why I am not that much worried about AALWAAR is : It was chosen by him much before Varalaaru release. Now, AFter having seen the success of Varalaaru, THALA would have definitly understood what the fans and the neutral audience expect from him. That is why I strongly feel that the movie that he is going to sign after Billa - 007 will be too good !

But Thala should not do whatever the director says from here onwards That will be suicidal in the future.

Anyway, We have KIREEDOM and BILLA coming all the way ! After Varalaaru, expectations were too high and fans and others were expecting a Varalaaru in Aalwaar. This is also one of the reasons !

Selva, what you say is true...but after hearing 30 to 40 crap stories, Ajith wasn't interested to sign any of those movies and even this movie's of chella also he wasn't ready to sign it, it was on the requisition of the producer Mohan Natarajan that he signed up Aalwar. Moreover Ajith was expecting Varalaaru to release during the month of June/July/August and when he almost gave up on Varalaaru thinking that it won't release until all these financial problems are solved. Also he didn't expect Varalaaru to release on Deepavali. And what more, there were some confusions regarding the release of aalwar also during december month. it was all of confused lot...but starting Kireedom, Billa and if sources are to be believed, Ajith's next with KSR......Ajith is here, no matter whatever the problems...

Aalwar might be a scrap....but it has done avg business thats what matters the most according to smith. it has broken even. so no problems.

Selva, are you quoting the opening for the first day alone or is it for the first 3 days...for the first 3 days, Aalwar had a magnificent opening of 100%, no doubt, even when I went to Sathyam, I got tickets only for 3rd day first show and it was houseful, and the family audience loved the 2nd half.....especially the mother-sister flashback stuff.

no doubt even Raj TV had reported about the Magnificent opening about Aalwar but one thing for sure is our Thala is the King of Opening. that we should accept.

First 3 days Alwar had very good opening. First i day i couldnt get a ticket for Alwar in My Home town Kanchipuram(one of the Biggest town in NSC Area). But i managed to get it for Pokiri.

But due to Bad word of mouth collection dropped drastically.

What if the movie bombs subsequently ??

Ideal way to measure the success of a movie will be to wait and see how much collections it grossed in say 50 to 75 days in major centres ( ABC ).

I had a doubt earlier itself as to why Ajit releases 2 movies within such a small gap !
Our own movies will compete within !

Atleast there should be a gap of 120 days between 2 movies .

true...rajkumar....it had 100% opening...yeah but due to bad word of mouth it dropped drastically...I do agree the film story wasn't great but Ajith's performace was notable...infact he was the saving grace...he had done his part...but we fans expect a lot from Ajith and what more when Varalaaru had created a sensation among the Thala fans atleast....

but I also feel that the fans expected a very good intro song for Thala like Vathikuchi in Dheena and also a very good intro like in Dheena...hmm....no probs lets wait for Kireedom first and then do the talking....

Trust me ! I am the only guy in the cloud of ajithfans to vouch for Kireedom and I expect this movie more than any other ajith movie. Right from the day it was started, I am expecting this movie and You can find my posts on the same.

I must be the only ajithfan who expects Kireedom more than Billa

I love his movies like Kaadhal Mannan, Mugavari and Ji. Kireedom is a combination of Mugavari and little bit of Dheena (Dada). This movie will rock and that is for sure. Whether others view it differently or not, it will satisfy ajithfans like me. I am concerned only about the "C" centre Hardcore veriyans for Kireedom.

am I not included....

..even I expect a lot as Mugavari is one of my favorites and Dheena my all time favorite...though we expect it to be a combination of both....I believe it is going to be a different class apart...hmm...I don't expect it to be a MASS film atleast with those punch lines....

Ideal way to measure the success of a movie will be to wait and see how much collections it grossed in say 50 to 75 days in major centres ( ABC ).

I had a doubt earlier itself as to why Ajit releases 2 movies within such a small gap !
Our own movies will compete within !

Atleast there should be a gap of 120 days between 2 movies .

I am sure even after reaching an unbeatable position in the next 10 years, he will keep this one for many years so that others can reap profit with his movies. Nowadays, finding it easy to remember the information on him since we are in the HUB I hope u must have enjoyed many things in AALWAAR No doubt "Varalaaru" is a superb movie and the classic role that he played inthe flashback will be there in the minds of the audience for long time.

Citizen is a case in point but i would place most of the blame on the director who also made the horrendous ABCD. Interestingly, Shyam's dialogue delivery was also a BIG weak point in that movie.

All hell has broken lose in Kollywood after a Tamil daily reported today (Feb 6) that Ajit has been hospitalized due to a severe backpain that may have affected his spine!
According to the report Ajit was in Visakhapatanam shooting for an action scene for Suresh Balaji�s Kireedom when he collapsed due to severe backpain. The actor had to be rushed to the Vizag airport in an ambulance, flown to Chennai and immediately admitted to Apollo hospital.

But sources close to Ajit spoke to Sify.com from Vizag and clarified: �They are making mountains out of molehills. It is true that he had a backpain while we were shooting for the climax scenes. It is nothing serious as made out to be and he was never rushed to Chennai as the report says. He is actually flying to Chennai today (Feb 6) and taking rest for a few days and shooting will start as soon as possible in Chennai.�

Ajit had this recurring back pain since his racing days and it resurfaces periodically. He has already had nine operations on his back and the actor himself said sometime back � �Probably, I will have to live with it for the rest of my life

Agonized Ajith in Apollo!

The back pain that had lain dormant has surfaced again and put Ajith in great agony.

Ajith has been greatly affected by an accident during Ajith has been greatly affected by an accident during motorcycle racing. For that spinal cord injury, he has been operated on 9 times. For those baulk at just one surgery, Ajith is a great example of a phoenix rising again and again.

During the shooting of 'Red' and 'Citizen,' Ajith continued to shoot with a doctor by his side. The medication he was on made him put on weight. When the media went to town criticizing him for being fat, he went on a strict regimen, lost 18kgs and became his old self again.

In spite of undergoing so many physical difficulties, Ajith continued to do risky shots without using a dupe. He did his stunt shots recently for 'Kireetam' in Visakapatnam.

Despite the director urging him to have a dupe, he did his own stunt of jumping from a car. This has awakened the old back pain and an agonized Ajith was flown to Chennai and admitted in Apollo. After 2 days of treatment, he's back in the shooting spot.

Unfortunately for him, he was again racked by back pain and a tormented Ajith was again brought by ambulance and flown to Chennai to be readmitted in Apollo Hospital. Following this, shooting has been cancelled. The director, actors and technicians have all returned to Chennai.

With grit and determination, Ajith sailed through 9 operations. We sincerely hope that he will surmount this 10th one too with the same confidence.

This is not the first time Ajith will be surmounting difficulties.

Ajith to rest, get back to work

Actor Ajith was flown back to Chennai on Tuesday afternoon from Visakhapatnam, where he was shooting for the Suresh Balaji film Kreedom. The actor�s back problem relapsed during the shooting of a fight sequence.

Stunt master Super Subbarayan was around but Ajith preferred to do away with dupes and take on the baddies himself, when he experienced pain.

He was treated at a hospital in Visakha patnam, say sources, before he took the flight back home to Chennai on Tuesday.

Ajith had suffered spinal injuries when he took a toss from his motorbike during his days on the racing track. He was treated at Apollo Hospitals, and had constantly been in touch with his personal physician, Dr Sudha Ramachandran.

According to Suresh Balaji, a major portion of the film is complete, and only 10 days of Ajith�s dates are required, so the actor can take as much rest as he likes.

Shooting will commence in Chennai around February 13. He has given strict instructions to Ajith�s wife Shalini to ensure that Ajith takes complete rest for the next few days.

The final portions of the film involving Ajith have been scheduled for shooting in and around Chennai. The film is likely to hit the theatres on May 1.

What Ajith got into an injury again?

Why cant he go for dupes in stunts just like other actors? He's just runing his own body and hence career by not doin that I think! Tooooo high a price to pay for wanting to be realistic...

Anyways, wish he gets healed soon, and comes back ASAP!

As soon as the news of Ajith falling ill while shooting spread, his anxious fans have started an SMS campaign urging their friends and well-wishers to pray for the speedy recovery of the actor.

A section of the press had carried reports a couple of days back that the actor had suffered acute pain after shooting for a stunt sequence for Kireedom at Visakhapatnam.

The news spread like wildfire and anxious fans even gathered in front of his house in Chennai.

It may be recalled that Ajith underwent several operations in his back after sustaining injuries in a motor race a few years ago.

Meanwhile, Shalini (Ajith�s wife) clarified on Tuesday that it was a minor injury and it is nothing to worry about. She said he would join the sets of Kireedom very soon.

Ajith met with an accident?

Recently, rumours were floating around the city that the ultimate star Ajith met with an accident and admitted to the hospital. Galatta.com which is always here to give you the facts has come again with the facts.

Ajith did not met with any accident at the shooting spot in Visakappatinam. His wife Shalini announced that �He used to go for medical check-up once in three months from the day when he had a spinal chord fracture. This month too he went for a medical check up yesterday (6th February)�.

He will be back for Kireedom shooting on Friday.This movie is produced by Suresh Balaji in collaboration with Adlabs, Mumbai. A.L. Vijay, the former assistant director of Priyadarsan is wielding the megaphone.
