  It is an open secret that theatre owners are paid to overrun rajini's films. It happened for padayappa also.
  
  Even Baba ran in chennai for 100 days by shifting to theatres like Broadway etc.,
  
  So, it will not be surprising that CM is made to run for 1 year also. After all, CM was a do or die film for rajini.
  
  His releif can be gauged from his interview to AV.

  'Chandramukhi' made so much money and is set to make some more records as the background score is to hit the market soon as an album. It seems this is the first time in India that a film's background music is being brought out as an album.
  
  
  With a full heart and full coffers, Ram Kumar of Sivaji Productions has decided on this novel venture.
  
  There will be a grand celebration of Sivaji's birth anniversary and 'Chandramukhi' jubilee on Oct 1. So, the film's background music release took place today afternoon (Sept 27, 2005) at a function held at GRT Grand Days in T Nagar.
  
  
  Producers Ram Kumar-Prabhu, director P Vasu and music composer Vidyasagar together released the album.
  
  "Even before the start of the film, when Rajini sir asked me about the music, the name that first came to my mind was Vidyasagar. For a film, the story and dialogues form the body and music is the costume. Just like the dress is important to a body, music is important to a film," said P Vasu in a rather poetic fashion. One could see the happiness spread across Vidyasagar's face.
  
  
  "Even I am astounded by the music in 'Chandramukhi.' This has been my career best. The people responsible for this are the producers, director and Rajini sir. I took about 31 days only to score the background music. About 80 artistes participated in the orchestra," said Vidyasagar about the hard work that went into the music composition.
  
  Last to speak was Prabhu. "After my father's demise, I wanted to do another round of films. That was fulfilled by 'Chandramukhi.' I owe it all to my brother Ram Kumar, Rajini, Kamal and friend Vasu," said Prabhu emotionally and sincerely.
  
  Ram Kumar reminded the journalists present to attend the 'Chandramukhi' celebration without fail and handed out the invitations.

  After many, many years the original soundtrack of a film Chandramukhi was released in Chennai today by Sivaji Productions- Ramkumar and Prabhu in the presence of music director Vidyasagar and director P.Vasu.
  The original soundtrack has all the punch lines, plus that famous “Lakka…Lakka…Lakkaa..” said by superstar Rajnikanth in the film. As a bonus, a VCD-'The making of Chandramukhi' is also given along with the original soundtrack.
  
  Said Ramkumar: “There was tremendous pressure from the fans of the superstar to bring out this soundtrack of Chandramukhi. The proceedings from the CD sales will go towards the Sivaji-Prabhu Charities Trust.

  Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) is the largest film event
  in Asia attracting film lovers and media from all over the world and
  it celebrates its 18th anniversary this year. It is one of the
  largest international film festivals and big blockbuster movies to
  art house films from all over the world are screened.
  Sivaji Productions Rajnikanth blockbuster Chandramukhi has been
  selected to be screened at TIFF (Oct 22- 30)on 23 and 28 as part
  of 'Winds of Asia' section. It will be the first public screening of
  Chandramukhi in Japan where Rajnikanth is very popular and has a

He was in Tirupathi recently and left for Melmaruvathur yesterday. He was given in the Poornakumba welcome there and prayed at the sanctum sanctorum. He also met Bangaru Adigalar and sought his blessings. Rajinikanth was accompanied by Prabu, Ramkumar and P.Vasu. At the celebration, veteran playback singer T.M.   Rajini has become a second Sivaji. "With Kamala amma's permission, I am saying this Our next Sivaji is Rajini," said Ram Kumar emotionally. The crowd approved and Rajini's face glowed with happiness.
  
  This happy incident occurred during the 200th day celebrations of 'Chandramukhi' held along with the birthday celebrations of Nadigar Thilakam that took place at the University Centenary Auditorium.
  
  On the left of the dais was a banner showing Rajini and Shivaji laughing with their heads together. On the right was a banner with Shivaji praying to God with his mother. In the centre was the palatial door set of 'Chandramukhi' showing Thota Tharani's handiwork.
  
  As specified in the invitation, the program started on schedule at 5.30pm. Kala and her group danced to Rajini film hits as the superstar sitting in the front row enjoyed the presentation with a smile.
  
  When the scene in 'Chandramukhi' showing Rajini saying the now famous 'laka laka' was shown, Latha Rajinikanth, Soundarya, Aishwarya and Dhanush clapped in delight along with the rasikas present.
  
  When the VIPS climbed the stage and were seated, a memento which had to be carried by several people was presented to the chief guest, central minister Dasari Narayana Rao. Following this, when playback singer T M Sounderarajan went on stage to receive the Sivaji Ganesan Memorial Award, he was surprised by a big hug from Rajini, at which he raised his hands up hailing the gods.
  
  Then Rajini and the minister got ready to award the mementoes to all those who were involved in making 'Chandramukhi' a success. The first name read out was Soundarya Rajini! She has done the titles for the film. The third person to receive the memento was Kaja Bahadur who says 'repeatu' the 3rd time in the song 'Devuda.' Rajini introduced him to the minister because when Rajini had been a conductor, Kaja Bahadur was the driver!
  
  Nayantara, Vadivelu, Vijaya Kumar and others received mementoes, after which Ilaya Thilakam adorned director P Vasu with a gold chain strung with a pendant of Sivaji Ganesan. Vasu shed tears of joy on receiving it.
  
  When he received the shield, Prabhu hugged everyone on stage to show his happiness.
  
  People were waiting with bated breath as to how Prabhu would greet Nayantara, but he hugged her as well?! We wonder if Prabhu heard the whistles flying around the auditorium?
  
  Superstar got the last memento and he received special attention. He was gifted with a silk shawl that had his figure woven into it, by Prabhu and Ram Kumar and the minister draped it round his shoulders. Rajini was also given a statuette of a warrior Sivaji on a horse, made in silver.
  
  Dasari Narayan Rao, Vijay, Shankar, Vijay Kumar, Vadivelu, Prabhu and Vasu heaped compliments on Rajini. When it was finally Rajini's turn to speak, the auditorium reverberated with thunderous applause.
  
  At a time when actors are entering politics and their speeches are also interspersed with political comments, it was refreshing to hear Rajini's rather spiritual kind of talk.
  
  This is a brief excerpt of superstar's super speech.
  
  "I was the horse, not the elephant in the 'Chandramukhi' opening function. I said I would get up if I fell. And I was true to my word. I stood up, but you all (pointing to the rasikas) made me run.
  
  Another reason is Babaji, whose strength made 'Chandramukhi' the hit it is today. Only a mix of happiness and sorrow makes life sweet. That does not mean we have to go in search of sorrow. Even if sorrow seeks us out, we should not let that dishearten us. I knew that 'Chandramukhi' would be a success, thanks to Babaji's blessings. That's why at a friend's house, I celebrated the film's victory a day prior to its release," said Rajini making us quite shocked!
  
  Even as people were wondering why there was nothing said about Chandramukhi at the 'Chandramukhi' celebrations?
  
  Jo's mother was indisposed, so Jyotika had to hurry to Mumbai to be with her. That's why she could not be present at the function.

  Rajnikanth also touched upon the rumors that he was keen on casting Aishwarya Rai for his next film Sivaji. He said that he is not after Aishwarya Rai, to run round the trees. ‘I saw the Neelambari in her and tried for her again in Baba.Not just she is a world beauty but a world class performer.   As the unit of Chandramukhi celebrated the 200th day in grand style in Chennai on Oct 1, the notable absentee at the function was the real Chandramukhi! Everybody present at the function was curious about why the actress did not turn up for the much awaited silver jubilee event.
  Sources close to the actress said that Jo had to rush to Mumbai to be near her ailing mother. Moviebuzz understands that Jo had gone on Friday, Sep 30 to a leading sari shop in Chennai and purchased a lavender coloured sari to wear for the function. The same evening, she saw Ghajini at the Sathyam theatre.
  
  But on Saturday morning, she got a call from Mumbai saying that her mother is very sick and wants to see her. Jo immediately called up Rajnikanth who advised her to rush to Mumbai and be with her mother and look after her.   Chandramukhi's sucess story was interesting but LIFELESS as the main soul for the movie chandramukhi (jyothika ) was absent.
  
  Except for Rajnikant, who mentioned about her excellent performance Wholeheartedly, MANY of the crew mentioned her MORE FOR THE formality sake.
  
  I feel chandramukhi's major sucess is because of JYOTHIKA, RAJNIKANT and the STORY (THE ORIGINAL STORY ,...REMEBER THE MALYALAM VERSION??) in that order respectively.
  
  Rajni's talk WAS VERY SENSIBLE and full of simplicity. Fame comes to those who DO NOT RUN behind the same. HE is the living example for the same. Amidst all the praises he was, sitting quietly, unperturbed.
  
  Chandramukhi's VIZHA, could have been renamed as RAJNI'S VIZha. Function was more a commendation about rajni's performance and EXALTATION of his stardom which I PERSONALLY FEEL, could have been played little low.

  It was a joyful moment to see the function, with fully packed auditorium. Yes, there was a vacant because of Jothika's absent, for which proper reason was told.
  
  Another memorable event was, the Great TMS was honoured by Sivaji Productions, with 'ponnAdai', Sivaji Momento and with 'Porkizhi' of Rs.50,000.
  
  But the sad thing is, when everyone praising about the artisits and techical crews one-by-one, all of them forgot to mention about actor Vineeth, who is one of the 'kartha' for the beautiful climax, with his wonderful Baharatha NAtyam movements. When everyone admiring the dance of Jothika in the climax, I cant understand how they forgot to mention about Vineeth (even P.vasu also, who mentioned each and every persons involved in that movie).
  
  During vote of thanks, we could observe in the tone and the way of talking with manarism, Prabhu remembered us the Great Sivaji.

  Watching Thalaivar's movies is like a festival occasion. If it is in Japan, it's a bonanza.
  
  D-Day on Oct 28th 2005. CM will be screened on Oct 28th. We all geared up for the midnight show which starts at 12:50 AM. We are set with SS Photos and T-shirts with Japanese fans in my office.
  
  Oct 28th 6: 00 PM
  
  Good news is it falls on friday midnight. We all finished the office work at 6:00 and went to the much anticipated screening of CM in Rooppongi hills in Tokyo. Screening is on one of the best theatres in Tokyo. We all reached the Theatre at 10:00 PM

  Crowd starts to pouring in and there was a excitement creeping in. Checked with the theatre owners and confirmed the timings again. Believe me there are only 8 Indians in the theatre which has the capacity of 250.
  
  CM Overseas distributor was there in the theatre and had a chat with the response in Tokyo. There was an another screening which happened on OCt 23rd and he told that there were only 4 Indians and the show was packed with Japanese. It's a repeat here in Oct 28th and only 8
  Indians.
  
  He was amazed by the response he got for the movie. He has promised us that Shivaji will be released on the same day all over the world. He has planned to release Veera and CM again in mid next year. This is a very good news for all the Japanese fans.

We had a chat with lot of Japanese fans and it's clear that Thalivar's presence in undoubtable. Reason behind the liking of Thalivar is they compare Thalivar with Jackie chan. They feels that

  8 Indians cannot beat the craze of Japanese crowd. they ar clapping and wistiling. We dropped of and enjoyed the Japanese crowd's mischeivious.
  
  When the Superstar logo was projected in the screen, everyone screamed "aiay aiay aiay...." and the introduction scene's response was fabulous.
  
  Every stunt scene gets applause and they liked the stunt scenes very much. Movie was translated in Japanese words down the screen and the they enjoyed by learning the translation.
  
  Gimmicks like thalivar coming in 10 faces and "pattam" changes as superstar gets a roaring response. Final song and fight gets thunderous response for the Japanese crowd.
  
  
  TOUCHING MOMENT 3:50 AM
  This is the best moment of my life. Film was over and cast and Technicians names were started scrolling. Capacity crowd hasn't moved a single step and they sat till the end of the last name. Once the film is over there was a standing ovation and a thunderous applause for 2 minutes still heard in my ears. I have not see in any part of world. I had watched the thalivar movies in all parts of the world and this is special indeed. After getting the thunderous applause, we are over whelmed and it never came out of the mind.
  
  One of the moment which I cherish in my life.
  
  There is no doubt Thalaivar rules in Japan and excitement continues for the next film called "Shivaji" which is going to be a cracker. I wish I will be in Japan during that time.
  
  Watching Thalaivar movie in India and getting claps is special Watching Thalaivar movie in unknown territory and seeing the response is something special.

He has finished Paramasivan with Ajith starring in it. He is to direct Chandramukhi in Hindi too. “After Chandramukhi, I always had Paramasivan in my mind. This film has come out the way I visualised it. Ajith has cooperated with me very much. I have also been offered to do Chandramukhi’s Hindi version. The cast has not been finalized yet,” he says.
