Colombo: New Zealand cricketers have expressed relief that swashbuckling Indian opening bat Virender Sehwag will not feature in the tri-series in Sri Lanka and in the upcoming Champions Trophy in South Africa because of a shoulder injury. A shoulder injury means New Zealand avoid one of the most devastating strikers of a cricket ball. It maybe recalled that during the recent one-day series in New Zealand, Sehwag had tonked 299 runs at an average of 74.25 to help India win by a margin of three games to one. “It is a relief,” said vice-captain Brendon Mc-Cullum when asked about the significance of Sehwag not leading off the Indian order in against New Zealand on Friday.
“The way he played against us in the home summer, he was pretty terrifying at the top of the order,” McCullum said. :P

Bangalore: Controversy and Harbhajan Singh seem to go together. In a fiery moment at the Bangalore international airport on Wednesday morning, Harbhajan took a jab at a television cameraperson keen on getting a few visuals of Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Harbhajan and Dhoni reached the airport together and even as the off-spinner was taking his luggage out from his car, the cameraperson, who was behind him, placed a hand on his shoulder, asking him to step aside so as to capture a few shots of Dhoni, who was standing directly opposite Harbhajan.
A visibly irritated Harbhajan gave the cameraperson an angry stare as the camera touched his head and jabbed at
him even as security personnel tried to push back the hordes of lensmen who had virtually mobbed the cricketer. With the other media crews too focusing on the cricketers, it led to a minor melee, eye witnesses told TOI.
Harbhajan, Dhoni and others, who figured in the Corporate Trophy final here on Tuesday, were on their way to the tri-series, currently under way in Sri Lanka. The 29-year-old Punjab offie has a rather dubious disciplinary record, having been penalised for various offences during his career.
Harbhajan was accused of racially abusing Australian allrounder Andrew Symonds in Sydney and the 2007 ‘monkeygate’ incident snowballed into a major crisis, threatening to tear apart the cricketing world.

Gautam Gambhir has picked up a groin injury and will miss the Compaq Cup in Sri Lanka after being advised 10 days' rest. He is returning home and will be replaced by Virat Kohli.
MS Dhoni, India's captain, said Gambhir picked up the injury during the recent BCCI Corporate Trophy. "From what I know he picked the injury during the Corporate tourney and aggravated it during a batting session," Dhoni said in Colombo. Gambhir is expected to report at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore for assessment and rehabilitation.
Kohli, currently at the NCA, is likely to join the squad on Friday. He has just recovered from a minor shoulder injury and participated in the Corporate Trophy.
Gambhir's injury means India, who play their first game on Friday, will be without two of their three established openers in Sri Lanka: Virender Sehwag is already out with a shoulder injury and will miss the Champions Trophy too. Gambhir's replacement notwithstanding, Dinesh Karthik, who opened in the ODIs in the West Indies in the absence of Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar, is in the squad and likely to make the starting XI.
India will desperately want Gambhir back in time for the Champions Trophy, where they play their first match on September 26, against Pakistan in Centurion. They would ideally want at least a week's acclimatisation in South Africa, which means there will be a degree of risk involved should India take Gambhir to the Champions Trophy. It will be a tricky decision because one such choice recently went wrong. Sehwag, who was injured but hoping to recover in time when the squad for World Twenty20 was announced, was along to England but is yet to recover from his shoulder injury.

BCCI quashed a PIL against them saying they are not answerable to public since they dont play for country but they are a independant body.......so effectively it means all the players play for BCCI, the organisation and not the country and BCCI/players are not accountable to anyone......

Dhoni hs been coming in at #3 in favourable situations while hiding behind in tough situations. This happened in ipl - it was discussed here, it has been happening since then also. If you deny it, good for you.
You cannot hide behind a team victory and say dhoni cannot be criticised at all.
Sachin has made a huge contribution to both the odi tournament wins dhoni has.
If ricky is made fun of for winning only with mcgrath, warne, dhoni s fair game here.
What is funny is hiding all losses(t20 wc, a significany more important tournament) and makinf dhoni superman for a triseries win(admittedly, tough for india but still not a great deal).

Plum, I haven't been following cricket quite closely of late - but it has been my impression that Dhoni has pulled out of the hole many times batting with the tail. He has gone much less aggressive than his initial days - which I am not sure is good or bad - but to say he is a 'fair weather batsman' is pretty stiff.
Anyway, Harbhajan avvaLo nalla pOttAnA ? I hate to see him do well.

He hs been batting with tail alright but not really pulling out of the hole. He has been struglging to be matchwinner. He is no longer a matchwinner - he can shadow a yuvraj or saxcon or sehwag nd that might take the team to victory or he can stay until end without accelerating, let the asking rate go to 8-9 and then either fall or give up. This is all he has been capable of as an indiv contributor recently.
He is probably the best captain indian can have among existing cndidates and that is really his luck.
If the only way to be caled npt whining is to not place genuine criticism I believe in , well, I don't care.
I have been called anti-rahman whixh is sad. Anti-dhoni, yes I can understand but the ampunt of rahman related muck throwen t me makesme consider quitting hub really
