Mohanlal in "Pop Carn"....Will it break his Tamil jinx?

After the criminally neglected performance in Maniratnam's "Iruvar", Mohanlal returns to Tamil with "Pop Carn" directed by actor Nasser. From the look of it, it's going to be an out-and-out entertainer. Simran plays the female lead, along with another sister of hers making debut. Music is by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The big question now is, whether an obviously out-of-place Mohanlal be competition for the likes of Vijay and Ajit? Or is Lal just taking a break from the "Resident Maadambi" routine?

IRUVAR is the true story of MGR and the former CM of TamilNadu KARUNANIDHI. A fantastic story and well taken through. Mohan Lal was excellent. I felt that I was seeing MGR originally throughout the film. Prakash Raj a Karunanidhi was fantastic too. But Vince, The film has pure Literature Tamil and you need to have learnt it in school to understand over half of it. But the dialogues embedded in tamil literature, I enjoyed them very much. A MUST SEE FILM, Vince

Unni Yoy are right. Iruvar was a good movie with very good perfomance from Lal and Prakash raj. The film did not clicked due to the changes made in the script due to political changes. The picture was earlier named 'Anandam' and later changed to Iruvar with more importance given to the Karunanidhi character.
Do you know whether Lal himself is dubbing for the new tamil film? His Tamil may not be accepted by the Tamils. So is his Hindi. RamGopal Verma is writing English dialogues for him in his Hindi movie. Mohanlal is doing a South Indian Police Officer in this film.
Let us see how the Tamils and Hindi people receive Mohanlal.

In a "Times of India" report from the shooting spot of "Company", Ramgopal Varma, after seeing Mohanlal perform, turns back towards the back of the camera, shakes his head and says "What an actor!" Shobha De says Mohanlal's sepia toned look in the posters of "Company" is 'arresting'. And Kizhavan, too bad you didn't notice Mohanlal in the trailers. He's there in every promo of the movie and his presence is prominent. Rediff.com says "Malayalam maverick Mohanlal makes a smashing Hindi debut with "Company"". By the way, did you guys know that Lal's performance in "Karnabharam" has been a major topic among Mumbai's high-class theatre circles? Any way Ramgopal Varma is no Iqbal Durrani and "Company" will be no "Dhartiputra". At least that part I'm sure. And yeah, Lal himself is dubbing for "Company" and "Pop Carn".

Hey unni, i heard the movie was a flop, but mani rathnam thought lal will get a bharath. I been lookin for its dvd (cos i need subtitle to understand) for a while.
Hey kizhavan u r right, since its a hindi film, they won't give more attention to mohan lal. But I think its such a shame that mohan lal in a movie which they won't even show his face on a trailor. I went to company films website, never seen a trailor. anyway i think the movie is gonna rock.

Sure. Company is not going to be a Dharti Putra. But it could be another Iruvar. Any how ,Lal is certain to outshine Ajay Devagan.Hindi viewers may not digest it.
Let us wait and see. If any one see it pls post a review in this forum.
