Hi
This request is for Mr. Lakshman.
I recently heard a song by Balaji Shankar in the
Raga [Gambiravani?], I think, "Pranarthiharaya nasthe"
I checked in Dikshitar's song list. It was not there. Can you let me know who the composer and preferably post the lyrics.
Thank you
RAM

The Ragam is Samantha (janyam of melam 30). I have heard Balaji Shanker rendering this Krithi in many of his U.S. concerts. The text (found in standard Dikshitar Krithi books is:
ragam : sAmantA tALaM: Adi
pallavi
oraNatArthiharAya namastE
vara dharmasaMvardhanI sahitAya
samasTicharaNaM
pranata ganapati guruguha tAtAya
prasiddha kshetrapAla sevitAya
ghR^iNi shashi vahni nayanAya
nandituragAya chidAnandanAthAya
pa~nchanadakshetraprakAshAya
pAkashAsananuta padAmbujAya
This song is in praise of Lord Panchanadeswara,
(consort is Dharmasamvardhani) of ThiruvaiyAru Ksetram.

The krithi is available in all standard books on Dikshitar, siuch as Veena Sundaram Iyer's 15 volume Dikshitar Kirtana mala (in volume 4), the Red book in Tamil - Muthuswami Dikshitar Keerthanaigal, the recent book by T K Govinda Rao (Krithis of Muddusvami Dikshitar), and a few more books. What books did you consult?
Thanks

Mr. Narayanan. I tried to get into the site you mentioned. I cannot go any further than the introduction. Is there some other way to get in. I am interested. In fact it denies access.

Hi, I would like to know if Sri Dhikshithar's compositions are all in Sanskrit? I believe he is from Tiruvarur and another question is Even Thyagaraja swamigal is from Tiruvayyaru, a place in Tamil Nadu. Am sure they must be knowing the language Tamil.. Its just out of curiosity, why were all the krithis composed in Sanskrit or Telugu.. if you cd research more into history and lemme know.. wd be great.. The simple question is cd there have been a chance for them to compose in Tamil
