Recently I have started to listen to pun isai and have been deeply moved by it. its gutteral sound has a special significance to me
I will like to know more about it. Apart from after temple poosai(pooja) is pun isai performed any where else. Also it seems ti be thevasarams after the poosai is the only living form of pun isai around.
On a recent trip to my local temple( high gate hill Murugan kvil, archway,London) I spoke to the guy who was singing it. he was terribly apologetic to me and said I should go and hear carnatic music. I said I have listened to it many times but pun isai is different and he should be proud of his singing. He looked at me bemused. Can some one shewd some light on this music and if you can get any cd's casstets. any contributions welcomed
