well . . . I do have to respond the Amercans, as much as it pains me to be typical. Do you really think that your government went to Iraq to save the people of Iraq? Haven't you seen the movie, "Wag the Dog".
Now don't get me wrong, there are millions of wonderful people living in America. But people are different than persons.K? And when you combine the interests of person, as a people or a nation, you will as likely get the lowest common denominator of all those persons. (That is first year university sociology stuff and pure commonsense.)
Well, alright then.
The web site 'police' said I wrote too much - hmmm , haven't I hear that before - so I will post in intallments. Hmmm

Part 2.
I don't mean any insult and I know many government official think they are doing good, and who am I to judge, perhaps they are. I just mean that if anyone believes there is only good intention in any government, as many Americans seem to believe exists within theirs, it is because they want to be fooled. I know many will say, I don't want to be fooled. Sorry, we, you and I, very often want to be fooled even when we think we do not want to be fooled. (That is first year phychology.)
Part 3 is here someplace.

As to the religious stuff on this web site: it is pedestrian, presumptious, provincial, and preposterous (but not peaceful, my brothers and sisters) to say that you are spiritual and yet to make hardline comments about your religion. You are operating in a conflict of terms the moment you strongly suggest any religion, or any god, as proper and true. They are all proper and all true. And the followers of each egually capable of being false and misled. Try to remember that the moment you can grasp any one large concept, like the essense of spirituality, or guitar playing for that matter, you have automatically found the door to all other large concepts. If have found a faith, as many of you seem to believe, and I trust you have, don't stand at the door way like a shy bride on her weddng night, don't turn around and start hailing all the folks who don't see what you think you see, step
completely through the door and Ssshhhh, be quiet and serene.

Remember, Jesus, Buddha, Abraham, Muhamid, Alah, or God, whomever she might be, these folks said very little, they did things: made beautiful tress, sand flies, tigers, and womens breasts ( all very god-like in appearance, to me); told wonderful stories about real people, lived full lives, did well and did poorly and therby showed the way. They said little, it was the people who came and still come that say a lot about these people and these gods.

And in a strange twist of irony this brings me back to the American point. Sssssh America, if you think you have found the way, don't worry, we will follow if you are really correct in your ways. There is an old maxim of pilosophy (again first year): when someone holds forth with a strong view, look the other way just a bit and you are more likely to find the truth. And there is an old saying my Dad used( not quite, but nearly my first year as a child, Haha), when a person is trying hard to defend themsleves or their beliefs they are often feeling quilty or doubtful. Often times people who speak strongly are feeling the winds of change, around them or in their own hearts, (sorry for mixing my metaphors: I was warned not to do that in first year creative writing). But it's all good, change I mean.

Part 6
Yin and Yang went up a hill to fetch a pail of water, returning tomorrow for another while the bucket was wearing thin. Perhaps it is the bucket, the unnoticed thing in our life that is important, not the stong beliefs of our poitics and religion. Change happens and we should help it along, care for those who don't take to the change easily. In 20,000,000 years, when we are riding bicycles up Mt. Everest the local sherpa people will need help with the readustment.

Part 7
Now, those points I made earlier, you can use them, turn them around on me and forget I ever spoke. After all, even talking is often so, cetainly preaching, attempting to convince are self serving enterprises at best. I mean as my Mom used to say, "oh god boy, you do like to hear yourself talk." We all do. But think, it is not the language that is important, we only use language as a means to communicate, because we want to be seen and heard so badly (said this lonely boy in China).

- From: A local boy from the 'Hawk' continents from home, in China (@ 218.11.8.84)
on: Wed Sep 1 12:39:16 EDT 2004
Part 8
It is communicating that is important ( I think that was first year Shakespeare): the only reason we talk so much is because we won't shut the f*** up. If we stopped talking we would find new ways to communicate. We already do. Isn't the true depth of you feeling for your lover, for your child, expressed without words. Don't we communicate with our pets and when we do, aren't our words really of secondary importance; it is the tone of our voice and our body language that counts.

Two more ponts and then I conclude: A very wise guy named Jaques Darrida once spoke about the "sign and the signified". For example: tree ( the sign) and ( the signified thing)that thing that stands in parks and forest that has branches and roots in the ground ( whic we are speaking of, signifying, when we say "tree".) The 'sign', or word, "tree" will never really be, nor capture the real essence of, the 'signified', that thing in the parks and forests; the second point, one quote, "in the beginning their was the word", ( I was brought up Christion, though I think my views wider now, so I will use the Bible's example of something that is said in many books)and a old 'pondering', "when a tree falls in the forest and no one is there a sound."

Part 10
When I place these all together, and perhaps it will work for you, I remember that life is a process and no one grasping for meaning, either through religion or political ideal, no one speaking of any word hits the mark in a universe that can only be understood as a process. I have come to feel selfish and boring when I hold the same view for too long. A process, yes a sequence.

Part 11: to conclude
A view which hold less insight than that, is but a 'stop frame, picture of a moment; like the hitting the pause button on your DVD. No idea is timeless, good for all time, but an idea can be the root of further though, and in this way be timeless. Ah, yes, what did come first, the chickens or the eggs? Hmmm, well . . . the word "sequential" has wonderful rhyme but poor 'reason' if we forget that the chickens come between the eggs. And the eggs ofcourse between the chickens, each a step in a process.
Thanks for tuning in

Hawk, I certainly would hope that there are more people with your outlook on life. I liked reading your stuff and I believe that you said a lot of interesting things. Please don't believe that the majority of people want to follow President Bush's BS. Believe me, the United States is totally spilt almost 50/50. I, and many others do not like the way the U.S. is heading want you to know that. By the way about 30 millian of us a atheists. I believe and live and let live until self rightous people start trying to force everyone to thinking like them.
