Are you interested in organizing rural youths in TN/India? I know that many people have great desire to do something for the development
of our country. I stronlgy believe that promoting rural youths will do a great deal
in the development of our country. I would like to start youth clubs/organizations with the following objectives.
1) Creating a casteless society.
2) Creating a tolerant society towards religion and ethnicity.
3) To work for the Social, Economic, Cultural, Vocational, Physical and Artistic progress of the people especially Youth, women and children.
4) To organize reading rooms, libraries and debating societies etc and publish periodicals for the cultural development of the villagers.
5) To organize social development activities for the improvement of poor and deserving members and villagers.
6)To organize and conduct centers for the disabled and aged members and villagers.
7)To conduct study classes in agriculture and job oriented courses on modern scientific lines.
I expect your opinions. If you have a dream and thrive before me and do want to do something creative and innovative for our society, come on and join me. We can change our society.

The reason that the land owners dont employ mechanization is because its still cheaper to emply local farmers, even though the price is increasing. I am not willing to argue on this because its simple supply and demand, and initial costs of machanization is high, therefore making it hard to machanize. However given that these people have other businesses they can take up, the price of labor would increase so much because the supply of labor would be low, that the land owners would have to start machanizations, and inturn boosting the local economy.
about the NGOs well yeah there are a lot of people who eat money, however if you are gonna do anythign in a large scale you cant do it by yourself, and you will have to rely on others. the point being that even in what you are doing you would most definitely need help by others. Anyways continue with your efforts, but I would suggest you take a look at what Elango did in kuthambakam. thats the type of stuff that I am talking about. but in a much larger scale.
Good luck buddy!!

I know abt the Grameen Bank of B'desh.Infact they ascribe their success to the womenfolk and in many n.indian states have a similar model(with covering all aspects and not only the finanicial aspect ofcourse) called mahila samakhya which has to some extent achieved a little bit of success.
In Education we have the Rishi Valley model (actress nandita das was teaching in their school for sometime earlier) which has been a huge success.
However, i personally feel that it is all the more important to get the right people at ground zero and if we have, then it is better to leave the framing of appropriate schemes to them.
Remember atleast now in India, there are no dearth of money for such schemes.Forget all the schemes , the MPs under the MPLAD scheme have crores ( i think it has been increased to 4 crores now) and most of the MPs surrender that money without utilising.
Every District Collector has around 50 to 100 crores allocation for such schemes which are again surrendered many times.Collector doesnt have time mostly to even go through the various schemes underwhich he is entrusted with the money. All his time is spent on the firefighting exercises which go around the year and there is no point in blaming him for this state of affairs.
I am not talking about corruption or other problems.I am just pointing out as to how much money remains unused.
Apart from these, there are ennumber of Govt schemes administered by various state and central governments which cater to every type of need. However, there are no capable, dedicated persons at ground to do this.
Nehru Yuva kendra has its objectives similar to what Nambi has described and its the largest organisation with service objective and has a huge budget, but not much is being done. The coordinators are never around at times of natural calamities or other exigencies. They are just seen during Independence Day functions trying to grab the collector's attention.
Vivekananda Kendra is repeatedly calling couples to serve the society. They have the money and systems. But they dont get persons.
Most of the time, it is the lack of dedicated, capable persons at the local level which makes these intentions fail.
Anyhow, i am not for discouraging you or nambi.I wish you both success .

I am not denying the fact that social service is a challenging task. But that does
not mean that we should not involve in that.
Our country needs lot more people to serve it.
Many Indians in UK I met recently are very happy
that the Indian Government is going to provide dual citizenship. Do you think that if we have built our country well, we need to sit in a foreign land and longing for something?

ivekananda Kendra is repeatedly calling couples to serve the society. They have the money and systems. But they dont get persons.
you know why??? because the model is based on people going out of their way to help.... a model based on business will succeed. The indian governments socialist mentality has destroyed it. things cant be done for free, people cannot be expected to help everyone for free out of their good will. that is relying on something which we have no control ovre... Please read how the grameen bank is able to help. that is a good example of the way things need to be setup, the government should be involved as little as possible, and the model should nto be about "people's" good will. People are unreliable, it has to be a legal profit making idea...
