Malaysia vasudevan was a close associate of Ilayaraja and used to be a prime singer in his music troup during old times. He got his break in 16 vayathinile in which he sang all the songs (apparently when SPB couldn't make it). Later he gave many hits with Ilayaraja and others. He managed to be called as the ghost voice for Sivaji after TMS' faded out of the TFM scene. Some of his notable songs for Sivaji include "maadappuraavo"(imaigal), "poonkaatru thirumbumaa"(mudhal mariyaathai). He also tried changing his voice for Rajni in "aasai nooru vagai"(adutha vaarisu). Apart from these, he has sung a wide variety of film songs many of them falling into the dappaanguthu category. He has also acted in some movies.
