TSCII has become a standard and is quite popular. However, we have observed several new users still find it rather unfriendly when it comes to viewing the tamil text on Hub, let alone posting. So I have been thinking about making this much easier. The result is this:

I have implemented a method to type, view & post tamil text - without using any extra software or fonts. Please try it out and post your comments here.

If a lot of people like it, we may encourage all Hubbers to use it in future.

  If you are having problems seeing tamil text, in IE go to View->Encoding and set it to Unicode(UTF-8).
  So far this has been tested to work on Win 98, ME, 2000 & XP.

  I don't think this helps TSCII writing/or writing, does it? ..your starting with "TSCII" in this thread threw me off... ? Please clarify.

  Pasupathy: I started off with TSCII just to give my post a context. This is different from TSCII. I didn't mention unicode settings, tamil encodings, etc. to make this simpler and avoid technicalities. May be I'll add a few lines to clarify this.
  Just want to add that TSCII is an interim standard and the consensus among the tamil community is to move towards unicode eventually.

  Just like in any new standard ( like when moving from TSC1.6 to TSC1.7..there'll be persons writing in both ..and wondering about some letters etc) I think , over a considerable period, both TSC and Unicode may/will both be used in forumhub... so it should be made clear that NOT ALL tamil writings can be read/written by above solution. So I think it is better to explain this clearly..and what they should do to read either type of posting.

  Pasupathy: I hope you don't imply that I already recommend everyone to use unicode on hub. I think it's clear that this thread is to get feedback on how good this idea really is. It'll take some time before we really accept it. When that stage comes, yes we'll definitely state clearly how either should be used. Anyway, thanks for the note.
