Guys flying sequences are not necessarily supposed to determine a how good a star he is in action...its rather the timing and the expressions on the action that determine his action talent...

Action is not only fights. It is all to with expressions, dialogue delivery, etc..

Though Vijay goes excess in times, he is really good in these areas

yup.. though he is using ropes.. i would like to tell a particular kick..

in sivakasi in the intro fight..
oru kick supera irruku.. though he used rope.. it was very very gud.
(a guys will hit vijay from back.. vijay will bleed.. he will give a bicylce kick)

But i am apprehensive about actor Vijay doing action hero roles.I think he doesn't fit in properly for those roles.My opinion got strong after watching his SIvakaasi.Especially in the climax.Action doesn't suit him well i guess.

As far as Ajith is concerned, i shud say i liked him doing action in movies like citizen , Dheena.But his movies like Paramasivan, Thirupathi, Red weren't too impressive.I think it got something to do with his getup.In Paramasivan and Thirupathi, i think he was too thin and his long hair did not suit him well is what i think.But some of his movies like Citizen(Too impressive), Dheena were very good.
So , in Ajith's case, it is a mixture of both.
Anyway waiting for his Godfather whichmay change my opinion once again.

Hi Selva, Yeah, all the movies you have listed are action movies. But we are talking about action heroes here.
IMO, Ajith was not tough-looking in these movies unlike Surya in the movies listed. By tough-looking, I not only mean shirt jerking muscles, aruvaai mush but also a strong face. There came Surya ahead of Ajith in my mind

selva, Amarkalam is an epitome of his tough looking.. I don't think anybody can do that type of role.. and in the climax, when he comes off the car with a gun.. plz look at him.. I could not think of any match.. He, in all his fight scenes, keeps a tough looking face, while many others fail to do that.. Being too handsome is a barrier for him, but he crushes the barrier and manifests his skills..

An action hero is not all about hitting, punching, flying and kicking. ITs about the intensity he brings to the scenes with facial expressions and body language. Surya, vijay and Ajith may be good action heroes, but vikram is the best when it comes to intense action scenes.

Well all of them have specific aspects that make them good in their own respective action scenes...I don't think we can exclude one person saying that they are horrible among these four...

Esp. Vikram...he was excellent in Saamy, robust...the thing is that he took the effort to make himself appear different from his usual artsy films by getting into the look, as did Surya with KK...IMO, they both can't naturally go and be the best action heros, however Vijay and Ajith, without any gaining of weight, can pull off the action hero material because they have other qualities...
