Arindhum Ariyaamalum: Off-screen romance

Aarya and Samiksha, the lead pair of Arindhum Ariyaamalum, reside in Anna Nagar, Chennai. Every evening, after 6 p.m., they are observed enjoying a leisurely walk, joining hands on the roads of Anna Nagar. Before anybody asks them about their relationship, they themselves volunteer, We are good friends and there is nothing else between us. Laughing

Though 'Utcha Natchathiram' has been acting as a saint like being, by saying, "money, fame, and name are all Maya", but he is very particular in accumulating wealth. That too, he is very fond of buying properties in his own home state. Recently he had bought a star hotel at Bangalore, which had been running in loss of late. It seems, Income Tax department got the wind of it that might have been the reason for the raid in his house. Is it true, 'Nadigar Sab'?

The 'Dhami' actress has been giving support as a women friend for 'Ulaganayagan', who haven't got a 'Nayagi'. This actress is a divorcee. She has been with Kamal for quite some time. During the recently held elections of Nadigar Sangam, both of them were busy in the work of 'Mumbai Express'. So they had cast their votes through post. What is the specialty in this? first of all, we should understand they have every right to lead their life the way they want.

Also, just because some 2 ppl spend time together does not mean anything between them

They might have probably said those words knowing too well bout the media and our tamizh audience.

Prasanna, the actor with boy-next-door looks, revels in his new-found success

MAKING A MARK Prasanna with Laila in Kanda Naal Mudhal

In an industry where many of his contemporaries are signing films left, right and centre, Prasanna has been choosy. It has been more than five years since he dropped out of engineering college to pursue a career in films. From 2002, when he made his debut with Susi Ganesan's youthful Five Star, he has charted his career in tinseldom with care.

Barring two run of the mill films that bombed at the box office (he had to do them due to "circumstances"), the rest have all been different. Be it Azhagiya Theeye, Kasthurimaan or Kanda Naal Mudhal, the hero with a boy-next-door image has won rave reviews from critics and masses alike.

He is now shooting for Kannum Kannum, directed by G Marimuthu, where he is paired with Malayalam actress Udayatara, and is all set to act in North Madras Pasanga, produced by GV Films and directed by Anwar.

`Soft' king

Ask him if it was a conscious decision to do soft roles, and Prasanna replies in the negative. "But, they were the best of the lot offered to me," he explains.

The Tiruchi lad who entered the industry with no clue about choosing films, is now wiser. "Radhamohan Sir's Azhagiya Theeye (his first big hit) was a big lesson on how to choose films," he says.

Chandru, the do-gooder protagonist in the film, came alive thanks to an understated performance by Prasanna. This is something that producer, actor Prakash Raj never fails to mention in every interview. How was it being toasted by the best in the industry? "I was really happy when Prakash Raj sir appreciated my work. The same goes for Bala sir. He saw Kasthurimaan, hugged me and told me I would earn a good name," he recalls.

Meeting a legend

The best compliment, of course, came from legendary director K. Balachander. "I got to spend one-and-a-half hours with KB sir. It was such a wonderful experience. He is such a jambhaavaan," he exclaims.

Even his parents, who were initially taken aback when he chose the spotlights over the physics lab, now rejoice over his good run.

Despite all the accolades received for his other films, Azhagiya Theeye remains closest to his heart.

"That is the film which showed me who I am. It increased my confidence. Now, I feel really free in front of the camera."

He internalised the film so much that months after shooting wrapped up, he continued to carry on with some of the mannerisms of Chandru.

His decision to do only one film at a time stems from his experiences during the making of Kanda Naal Mudhal and Kasthurimaan, for which he shot almost simultaneously. "I am not bothered about what others are doing. My policy is to do one at a time. You need to focus on a character. It is difficult to veer from one character to another. It affects continuity."

In keeping with his policy, he is to take a month's break before North Madras Pasanga. Mention the film, and he is all charged up. "It is a very interesting script and has some great technicians," he says.

A graduate in Visual communications from Loyola College Vishal�s next film is Thimiru directed by Tarun Gopi and then Sivapathigaram with noted director Karu Palaniyappan. He is also likely to do a film with action director Hari.

As said earlier, if they are not in mood or they are short of time, they just scribble their name. I wonder if that is how they signs their cheque leaves. When they have time and are in mood to write, they do take time to scribble some message. Kaadhal Sandhya writes with love and love only. Now that is really loving indeed!

Aparna writes all the best. Sometimes she scribbles in Tamil: Endrum Ungal Abimaana Aparna. Renuka Menon, it looks, is a great believer in God or is at loss of ideas. For whenever she gives her autograph, she writes God Bless You.

Pa Vijayan signs with Anbu Pa Vijay. Sometimes he writes a verse from the Kural. Music director Bharadwaj signs with Priyamudan. Director A K Murugadoss scribbles Be friends with all. Vijay ends with a simple Best Wishes while his father goes in Tamil saying Neengaadha Ninaivugaludan.

Director Saran who gave you the Idayath Thirudan is different. His quotation reads Ninaipadhellaam Nadakattum. (Let all your desires come true.) Vikram has a couple of ready made phrases: Do one�s best! Do one�s duty! Or simply do wonders! He is one hero who doesn�t hesitate to give his autograph.

Ajith�s lines reflect his personality. His words for his fans and autograph hunters are Love your work.

Finally, you know what superstar writes in his autograph? In his usual style he scribbles �God be with us�.

The heroines, whatever they may write in your book, always, invariably, conclude with with love. Now, that is something revealing. Are they softer than the heroes?
