I think Chandramuki should be at first because it collected more than 63 lakhs with only 107 days while the top grosser Athadu ran 142 days to beat CM.

Also this year Ghajini will come at the top 10 list. This week kumudam says Anniyan collected 25 crores, Ghajini 15 crores, Manmada 8 crores and Shivaji has sold out for 15+ crores.
Now Andhra walas has started thinking to stop tamil film's over success by increasing tax (60%) etc like Karnataka did. Sad

But now there is no restriction for tamil films in Andhra. Smile

Not only in Andhra, tamil film has good market in Kerela, Karnataka too. Kamal is the only actor having good market in Telugu, Kerala, Karnataka and Hindi too. Kamal's RSB is rocking Karnataka now.

Hope tamil cinema will continue its walk well. Thumbs Up!

`Kollywood Vs Tollywood` Cricket Match

Jaya TV is coming out for the first time ever for a Tamil channel with a live telecast of “Kollywood Vs Tollywood” Cricket Match.
It will be a 30 over Day & Night match at the prestigious M A Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk) in Chennai today (Feb 4).

Imagine Arya, Simbu and Shaam playing in the centre pitch where greats like Sachin, Inzamam and Ponting have batted.

The Kollywood team has Abbas (Captain), Madhavan, Shaam, Simbu, Srikanth, Arya, Jeeva, Vikranth, Ramesh, Arun Kumar, Ramana (wicket keeper) and Karunas.

The Tollywood team has Tarun (Captain), O.Kalyan, G.V Sudhakar, Ravi Shankar, Saikumar, Tarakaratna, Kalyanram, Aryan Rajesh, Dasari Arun, Raghu, Malalla Ravi, Ayyappa (wicket keeper) .

Apart from the star players, a galaxy of celebrities and leading artists from Tamil film world will be watching the game. Later the ‘Arokya Cup’ (main sponsors) will be given away to the winner. Abbas the captain of Kollywood said: “It will be played as a serious match between two teams who have played cricket at higher grade”.

Star cricket match – live coverage

Jaya TV and Arogya Milk arranged for a day and night star cricket match in Chennai day before yesterday. One side comprised actors from the Tamil film field and the opposing side from the Telugu film field. The captain of Kollywood team was Abbas and captain of Tollywood team was Tarun. Kollywood won the toss and opted to bat.

After all it’s a star cricket, so it’s not going to be any great shakes, thought those who had come to watch. Well, both the teams smashed such thoughts to smithereens. The match was no less thrilling than an India-Pakistan cricket match.

Shaam and Ramana were the opening pair for the 30 over innings from the Kollywood side. Taking 8 runs from 12 balls, Shaam gave a beautiful catch when he had only made 2 runs and returned to the pavilion.

The faces of the rasikas fell. This was going to be a sure victory for the Tollywood side. But Ramana turned out to be a Sachin Tendulkar and smashed some terrific runs.

Vikranth gave him a good partnership. Ramana scored 108 and Vikranth 54. Arya and Jeeva followed this successful pair and scored their fair share of runs, so the Kollywood runs totaled a decent 248 runs in 30 overs and gave the Tollywood team a nightmare.

The Tollywood team could amass only 227 runs in their allotted 30 overs, so Kollywood team won the trophy and Ramana with his 108 runs was adjudged Man of the Match.

Simbu who was generally full of antics about how he would smash runs, however was no good on the field and he got bowled out as he faced the last ball. He also gave away 22 runs in 2 overs.

As the match was happening on the field, an animated commentary was going on by Vindhya. Shortly after the game started, Vindhya predicted victory for the Kollywood team and her words came true.

February 4th saw an exciting match, The Arokya match, between the young stars of Telugu and Tamil cinema, with the Tamil stars’ team winning the day-and-night match.

Arokya and Jaya TV were the main sponsors of the fun cricket match held at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai on February 4th between the 2 most popular film segments in India.

Playing for the Kollywood side were Abbas (Captain), Ramana (wicket keeper), Simbhu, Jeeva, Ramesh, Vishal, Srikant, Arun Kumar, Karunaas, Aarya, Shaam and Vikranth.

Playing for the Tollywood side were Tarun (Captain), Ayyappa (Wicket Keeper), O. Kalyan, G.V. Sudhakar, Ravishankar, Saikumar, Taraka Ratna, Kalyanram, Aryan Rajesh, Dasari Arun, Raghu and Madalla Ravi.

The Kollywood side batted first, with the score reaching 248 in 30 overs, losing 5 wickets.

The Tollywood side gave a hearty chase, scoring 227 runs for 8 wickets, but they were unable to beat the Kollywood side within the stipulated 30 overs – and the Kollywood side exulted over the 21-run victory!

Vishal took 3 wickets and Vikranth, Aarya, Abbas and Jeeva took a wicket each.

Ramana, who scored a whopping 108 runs for his team was declared Man of the Match and was presented a cup by Arokya Milk.

Bonhomie was in the air, and this was no cut-throat competition, with the Telugu biggies turning out to be such good sports. It was great to see the 2 sides get along so well together!

The South Indian film industry has always been notoriously conservative with respect to events outside of movies and movie promotions. Not so with the young, fit, and health-conscious stars of today. Saturday’s cricket match showed that they too are loosening up, letting their hair down and being part of a fun-filled event which also showcased a star that has more fans that ALL the movie stars put together – the game of cricket!

We hope to see our South Indian film stars in more events where the public and fans feel closer to them! Keep it up!

The mega star of Tollywood Chiranjeevi is in happy mood as his daughter Sushmita has been engaged to marry a Chennai guy. Last year, he fixed up her marriage with Uday Kiran, an upcoming actor. But the marriage was called off due to various reasons. Now, she has been engaged to Vishnu Prasad who is an MBA graduate. Betrothal will be held at Chennai this 8th and marriage March 2. The venue for the marriage will be Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad. It is said that all his close friends and relatives and both Tamil & Telugu industry people would be invited for the marriage.

* For some reason, telugu media was giving a bad review on CM and tried their level best to bring that movie down. But they ended up in buring their own fingers in their attempt as the movie was UNSTOPPABLE by anyone.

* On the other hand, they took Aparichitudu (anniyan) more like a original telugu movie and really gave a hand to that movie.

One film in two years is Selvaraghavan’s formula. He will think of doing the second film after the release and run of the first film.

But this time, he has already done puja for his next film before the release of ‘Pudupettai.’ Venkatesh is hero of the next film.

Selvaraghavan is the latest prisoner of Telugu people’s Tamil love. Following the great hit of ’76 Rainbow Colony,’ he is a very familiar face in Telugu industry.

The puja of the new film was held in Hyderabad recently. Tamil galaxy at Chiranjeevi daughter's wedding

It was a mega function at HITEX on the night of March 2nd. The mega-star Chiranjeevi’s daughter Sushmita’s wedding with Vishnu Prasad. The marriage performed in the typical Telugu tradition, lasted for four and a half hours, from 8pm to 12.30pm. Chiranjeevi was clad in milk white dhothi and lalchi and he was happily overseeing the entire proceedings. The pallaki that brought Sushmita was borne by Ram Charan Teja, Allu Venkatesh, Allu Arjun and Allu Sirish. There was not one big VIP, political or cinema, was missing. From Chennai we had Rajinikanth, Vikram, Sarath Kumar, Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Jeyam Ravi, Kushboo, Suhasini and others.

From the Andhra tinsel town there were ANR, Krishna, Mohan Babu, Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, Pawan Kalyan, Rajasekhar, Junior NTR, Ravi Teja, Siddhartha and Prabhas. Among the heroines present were Vani Sri, Jayasudha, Kushboo, Suhasini, Tabu, Trisha, Sreya, Jenielia, Anu Mehta and Laya. Comedian Venu Madhav gave a running commentary while the gismos presented a live coverage on LCDs.

Ravi ventures to Tollywood

When heroines from Kollywood and Malluwood are venturing to Telugu film industry, actor Jeyam Ravi is all set to test the waters in Andhra Pradesh.

He would be playing the lead role in a movie that would be directed by his brother Raja and produced by his father

Editor Mohan. Interestingly, Ravi's majority of films have been a remake of blockbuster Telugu movies. Now he has taken a leap to act in a direct Telugu movie.

Once his Something Something in Tamil (again a remake of Telugu movie Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana) is completed, Ravi's Telugu venture would begin. Though the story and script have been finalized, the cast and crew have not been decided as yet.

The much-hyped Kollywood versus Tollywood cricket match which was slated to be played at Sharjah last month but postponed at the last minute due to various constraints will be taking place on 10 March.

The Tamil star team led by Abbas will clash with Telugu stars team which will be captained by Tarun.

Having won a practice game in Chennai against Tollywood stars team, the spirit is high in Kollywood team.

Practising hard at the Mayajaal Cricket Ground on Tuesday, the Kollywood team which has big names like Silambarasan, Shaam, Srikanth, Vishal, Arya, Jeeva among others, hope to win the NTR - MGR cup this time.

The team would be leaving to Sharjah on Wednesday night.

While heroines from Kollywood and Malluwood are entering Telugu films, can Jeyam Ravi be far behind? He is to play the lead role directed by brother Raja and produced by his father Editor Mohan. Many of Ravi's films have been remakes of blockbuster Telugu movies; now he is opting for the real thing. Once his Something Something is complete, Ravi's Telugu venture begins. Battle at Sharjah

The Kollywood versus Tollywood cricket match, scheduled to be held at Sharjah last month was postponed and will now occur on 10th March. The Tamil star team, led by Abbas, will clash with the Telugu star team, which is led by Tarun. Since Abbas and his team won the match at Chennai, they are most upbeat and plan to leave for Sharjah on the night of 8th March. Cheran ventures to Tollywood

Actor-director Cheran, who is eyeing a hat-trick with Mayakkannadi, is now planning to venture to Tollywood.

His home production Azhagai Irukkirai Bayamai Irukkirathu starring Bharath and Mallika Kapoor would be dubbed and released in Andhra Pradesh as Maha.

The movie was supposed to be completed but delayed due to last minute hiccups.

Finally last month, the entire shooting was wound up.

Directed by cinematographer Vijay Milton, the movie also features Arun Kumar.

On his plans to have a dubbed release in Telugu, Cheran says, 'I sincerely feel that if a movie has a good script and storyline and talented actress in it, it would succeed in any language'.

Meanwhile the shooting for his Mayakkannadi is all set to commence soon.

Finally, Lawrence Raghavender’s maiden Telugu venture Mass will release in theatres in Tamilnadu as Veeran this weekend.

Noted producer Vishwas Sundar has obtained the Chennai city rights for the movie which features Nagarjuna and Jyothika in the lead role.

On a high after two successive hits in Mass and Style, choreographer-turned-director Lawrence is all set to begin his next movie in Telugu again.

The movie is titled Don and would star Nagarjuna in the lead. Lawrence is planning to direct a movie in Tamil before this year-end.

AR Rahman, PC Sriram to join for a Telugu flick?

If reports are true, A M Ratnam will be making a movie with Pawan Kalyan in the director’s chair. Pawan, basically a hero, is not new to direction . He has already worked on flicks like Johnny and Kutumba Shankar. Scripting the story himself, Pawan plans to bring P C Sriram behind the camera and A R Rahman to score the music. Rathnam, Pawan, Sriram and Rahman—the combination is deadly man!

Chiru’s son, hero

Ram Charan Teja, son of mega star Chiranjeevi, is the hero of a forthcoming movie in Telugu which is not yet named. The producer is M.S. Raju. Prabhu Deva, the famous choreographer who has made all the top stars dance to his direction, is the director of this movie. Prabhu Deva has acted in and directed several movies earlier in Tamil and Telugu.

Prabhu Deva’s earlier Telugu movie Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana, where he was the choreographer/ actor/ director was a super-hit and is being remade in Tamil as Something Something Unakkum Enakkum. Prabhu Deva is now busy with the Telugu film Pournami where Prabhas and Trisha are the leading pair, and is to be released on April 25th.

Prabhudeva to direct Chiranjeevi’s son

Prabhudeva is a much sought after director in Telugu desam after a string of hits there. The man’s cup of joy seems to be overflowing at the moment with the talks about launching superstar Chiranjeevi’s son, Ram Charan Teja, under his direction. Producer M.S. Raju is confident that it would be good for both Charan and Prabudeva because both are newcomers and hence would be more careful. The film would be formally launched on Chiru’s birthday.

Meanwhile, Prabudeva is busy giving the finishing touches to his next film, Pournami which is slated for release in April. Well, does this mean end of the road for the gravity-defying dance acts by Prabudeva? It does seem to be so as he feels that he has matured to graduate to other things. Remember, he even won the National award for best choreography?

Ruling the roost elsewhere

Kollywood stars have started to rule the roost in Tollywood now.

Thanks to the success of directors like Prabhu Deva and Lawrence Raghavendra followed by actress Trisha hitting the bull's eye, the stocks for Tamil artistes have soared up in Telugu film industry.

Box office success for the dubbed version of Tamil movies like Chandramukhi, Anniyan, Ghajini and Aaru has also helped. The movies resulted in huge fan-following for actors like Rajinikanth, Suriya and Vikram.

As a result of which the likes of Vikram and Suriya are flooded with offers from Tollywood. Similarly, music directors like Yuvan Shankar Raja and Harris Jeyaraj too have Tollywood producers flocking them now.
