Nowadays lot of remake films are done in Tamil. Don't we have good story writers?why should we go for other language films?

Lot of young assistant directors are roaming in kollywood with good scripts on hand but lot of money are spent on remake only.

Very few remake like chandramukhi proved to be a big hit. Some Eeeadichan copy films are bringing others culture and style into our films.

Nowadays I can see lot of Tamil heroes wearing bright colorful dress like Tollywood guys. (Veshti kooda color colora katta aarambichittangappa)

What do you think abt this???????

I do not knwo how much this is true. Its justifiable if the story is good enough to take pains in remaking the whole movie. I again am not sure about the colourful dhoti part . If the story is worth it, the pain is wroth too.

Though no clue about remakes I SURE hate these DUBBED movies (inspite of its maga hit status). We dont find anybody with star values, adding to the idiocy is a voice with no life or correlation whatsoever.

When I was in my school, I remember going along with my classmates and watching a vijayashanthi movie (cause we did nto get tickets for any nice movie)along with her were some godforsaken actors to support her, the story was super hit in telugu industry, sadly in theatre, there were NONE except we 8 students and some college students (around 10 of them).

Whenever there was any pathos scene, i remember WE WERE HILARIOUSLY laughing away and enjoying the movie. We could not have enjoyed even a tamizh comedy movie equally.

Its sad for the producers and distributors to bet their money on such dubbed movies. Someday I am waiting for this telugu dubbed movie to be telecasted so that I RELIVE my moments. Sadly I forgot the name of the movie and the co-stars too.

many vijay movies.....

some rajni movies from amitabh bachan's original...

sometimes rajni did greatly...for eg."thee"...but it was nowhere near amitabh in "deewaar" i guess!

and also many kamal films are remade into hindi and other languages...

Rajini has acted much more Hindi remake films than anybody. Vijay is following that with Telugu remakes. Even Sivaji had acted in some remake movies, they were not as successful as Rajini's

I know following Sivaji movies dint do well in Tamil.

1. Remake of Aradhana ( I dont know the tamil movie name )
2. Remake of Anand ( Sivaji acted with Gemini - I dont know the tamil movie name )
3. Thiyagam ( was not flop though, it dint do as well as Hindi movie )

what is the story of viduthalai? Never heawrd of the movie.

Rest of the movies mentioned I THINK were REASONABLE HITS. mr.bharat etc was a BIG HIT.

hmmm ... have to agree with your opinion on 'Deewar' - rajni's 'Thee' got nowhere close to the original, which, of course, is regarded even today as a milestone in hindi cinema and is easily one of yash chopra's most enduring works (much better than all his attempts at chocolatey romance, if you ask me. but then, that's a purely personal opinion )
but i thought 'Chachi 420' got as close to the original as a remake could possibly get. in fact, i'd go one step further and say it WAS actually as good as 'Avvai Shanmugi'. everything from the casting to the dialogues had been beautifully adapted. the film was a runaway hit in bombay ... in fact, i happened to be in bombay when it was released, and the kind of frenzy it created was amazing to watch - gained kamal haasan a lot of genuine respect among the hindi film fraternity.

I liked AV much better than C420. I never knew it was hit in hindi too.

One more famous remake of Rajini is 'Billa' - remake of 'DON'. Both Hindi and Tamil were good.

Nilavu machi, THEE was of of Rajini's best performances, and a supet hit movie of 1981. I have seen both, and going with your perspective, I don't think Rajini's performance was in no way lesser than Amithabh's. In fact, I thought THEE was much better than DEEWAR. I know you won't agree though !!!

Vijay's remakes films, such as Priyamanavale, Kadhalukku Mariayathey (especially this), and Gilli all took him higher and higher...

Most of the times, his remake selections don't wrong, with the exception of the likes of Vaseegara (which was still enjoyable)

You try to be storywrite and director its very hard to do very different movie, on one hand you have to sell the message in a unique way, on the hand you expect cinegoers prefers commercial elements in a movie.

Rajni is the only one available those days to take up amitabh's role HE CANT THOUGH COMPETE WITH AMITABH'S STYLE.

Rajni's movies which were remade in hindi had SHATRUHAN SINHA playing his role. Can anyone list some movies wchih was remade from tamizh?

they wont even change the color of the dress, name of the character

manasantha nuvve ( telugu) - reema sen was wearing blue colr half saree in a song. same movie came in kannada - gayatri raguram was wearing same blue colr half saree for that song.

telugu,kannadala adichu salicha piragu it came in tamil thithikudhe

sridevi vijayakumar was wearing same blue color half saree.

Surya has done only one remake so far. (Perazhagan). In his interview while speaking abt remake films he said only when the role is much challenging I'll accept for remake films. good na......

I personally feel doing original version is much challenging.

For example Nanda

Guy who has murdered his father and spent most of his lifetime in prison. not accepted by his mother. staying far from family -> when all these things are described by the director, hero should put everything in his mind and should do homework change bodylanguage . dubbing also plays important role for the success of the character.This is more challenging.

For remake films also hard work is necessary but some what copying everything which is already put in screen by some other person. should reproduce the same in other language.

I would agree. Stay away from that movie, especially if you had already watched the hindi movie. Baby Shalini had overracted in the movie. I feel it is one of the movies, Sivaji should have avoided acting...

I would not classify that movie as remake. JD-Jerry had lifted lots of scenes from 'Iknow what you did last summer'. Tamil version is nowhere close to the hollywood version.

SAC also copied 'I still know what you did last summer' to make an utter flop movie 'Mutham'.

I saw the movie..thot it was not bad for a tamil thriller.Ofcourse I had no expectations from the movie so wasnt dissappointed too much

Dont forget shankars method of remaking an english novel!He reads a book alters it to suit tamil audience and prepares his product.
For instance Anniyan's gist was based on Sidney sheldons"Tell me your dreams".In the book there were three personalities one of whom puts an ends to evil doers.Another was a miss goody two shoes.And another----who doesnt satisfy any purpose.There was also a sad flashback.A lawyer episode and a doctor who solves the mystery.I feel that the book was much more enjoyable than the movie!

Well, movie was good. NOWAY it created impact of what the book gave. NOWAY.

Thats what I try to say. Any good book made into a movie, BY EVEN THE MOST TALENTED director CANNOT give the same impact.

Movie lovers will love it.

It didnt create an impact as much as the book.nyway BGM was gr8 but they picturised every part of the book(shortening lawyer and doctor sequences but there were more of THAT sequences(I guess you must kno)making it less suitable for indians.

We seem to remake a whole lot of Action films like Ghilli, Gajini, Mazhai, so on.

Why don't we remake CLASSIC films like:

Dilwaley Dulhaniya Legayenge

Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gum

Lakshya

Veer Zahra

etc??

Hmm..romantic movies WOULD click, but should should be made to suit common man's taste. A common man I feel woudl be happy to see his own reflection rather than some upper-middle-class lifestyle portrayed on screen.

I think that the tamil masses don't have the taste for movies now as they did in the 70's & 80's. When good movies like Mullum Malarum, 6-60 varai, Vaaname Yellai, Kadalore Kavidhaigal, Moonram Pirai, Salangai Oli etc ran well. The taste of the Tamil masses has detiererated. Don't you think?

Hypothetiacally If the movie is remade into Tamil who do you think will suit the diff. caharacters!!
If VJ plays Abisheks role,Asin plays his wife(i dont kno her name),Vikram plays John Abraham's, Surya plays that bike crazy 2nd hero(I dont kno his name too) and Trisha plays Esha Deol.I'm sure that the film will beat Brian Laras 400 and also the collection of CM.

There was also Thillu Mullu, which, I believe was a scene by scene remake of 'Golmaal' (Hindi)

YES, That movie is the remake of Mr.India.

Anil Kapoor acts in Bagyaraj's remake in Hindi. Remake is not particular to any language. There has been lots of remakes in all langauages.

For instances, Chinna Thambi is biggest hit in Tamil, and then in Telugu and then in Kannada. But, it is flop in Hindi.

I feel if the screenplay is changed for every language based on regional interest and nativity, the remake films will be good to watch. Dharani did a good job in Gilli to change the screenplay to suit tamil audiences.

Hmm...good point. It's ok, if the role requires it..I loved Aamir Khan's role for that reason...He underwent a total transformation from being a jerk to a changed guy...Their hugging scene where they reconcile was so touching...
