Have to give it to the OZ's. M'rae pochunnu 480/8 la declare pannunnanga. Yeah you can say it is a minnow Windies team but how many teams do that?. If test cricket has become this competitive we have to hand some(if not half) of the credit to the australians for making aggressive tactics throughout the 90's and the 00's.

They also enforced the follow on, though the lead was just 250 and finished the match on the same day, this is an innings victory, amazing. Perfect way of treating minnows

Bollinger to Gayle, OUT, sharp catch from Haddin! Bollinger slips in a bouncer just outside off stump and Gayle goes after it, trying to uppercut it over the slips, but its too close to his body and he snicks it off the shoulder of the bat and Haddin leaps up to his right and plucks it from out of nowhere, it was travelling high and fast but he snapped it

Jason: "I'm going to get flamed for this, but Gayle is a hack and should be removed as captain. What kind of idiot, who should be a mentor and role model for his young players, plays so carelessly and so selfishly? What good is a test opener with 150+ strike rate if he averages only 30-odd. Strip him of his captaincy, put him back down to no.6 (at best), and let some talent lift the team. Better yet, leave him in T20 - he's just embarrassing himself here."

62.3 Watson to Chanderpaul, OUT, another loose forward prod from Chanders to one pitching closer to off stump, there's a noise before Haddin collects, no reaction from the umpire and we have a review. For the second time involving Chanderpaul, several replays are reviewed and again Hotspot is inconclusive. Is it bat flipping pad? Australia don't look pleased. Second time Chanders has been involved in a caught-behind review. Ponting, who asked for the review, leads the celebrations when the outcome is OUT. Hotspot didn't show anything but the review works for the Australians this time. Chanders is gone for a fighting 62. The bowling change works and a dangerous stand is snapped. This one was far less convincing that the first appeal last session. Chanders shakes his head and walks off. Crucial breakthrough from Watson.

Well, per the review system, the third umpire cannot overrule the onfield decision unless significant evidence is there in replays to overturn the decision.
As usual, aussie third umpires show their patriotism by failing to stick to this guodeline. There wasn't much evidence definitively. And even in general batsmen should get the benefit when there is a doubt. But aussies ofcourse can defy all tradition, laws and rules and act injured when someone dishes out the same to them

When a draw feels like a victory
Windies win in drawn Test
West Indies might not have won the Test, but they certainly won respect. The discipline of their pacemen and the desperation of their fieldsmen on the final day indicated that this was a team brimming with passion and desire; traits that had been evident only intermittently this year. The task from here is to prove that their performance at the Gabba, not the Adelaide Oval, was the anomaly. With their mocko jumbie-cum-spinner, Sulieman Benn, largely ineffective following a blow to the foot the previous day, Dwayne Bravo and Kemar Roach - the latter of whom regularly hit speeds in excess of 150kph - ruthlessly pursued the Australians, while Adrian Barath, Ramnaresh Sarwan and Bravo all claimed catches that would make any highlight reel. A summer slapped with the damp squib tag has unexpectedly come alive. ....

Saw Roach's bowling in Gabba & Adelaide. Roach nalla podraplla... Will be interesting to see how he can control his line/length in Perth. Good come back by Windies at Adelaide... Imgaine Aussies have to survive a day on the same wicket, if they had bowlers of the calibre of Roberts/Holding/Marshall/Garner and that too in this modern era of neutral umpires/referral system etc. They would have consumed this Aussie batting lineup as a post lunch snack on an Adelaide surface that just started to get a bit uneven on day 5! But then gone are the days ain't it?
But overall a pretty good Test match cricket and a good comeback by Windies. Perth is going to suit the Aussies more than Windies. Not because Aussies have a great bowling attack but more because Windies batting lineup could be more vulnerable there.
Besides Roach, the other youngster who has impressed me is Adrian Bharath. Watch out for him at Perth!

OZ caught up in Gayle force.
It seems that lightning can occur not only in thunderstorms, but also from the bat of Gayle with typical caribbean flair. Today he has registered his second century of the series. For men like Sehwag, Gayle and not so long ago, Gilchrist, there is an adage that attack is a best form of defence. There is certainly a big difference between his today's century and the last one he made in the previous test. On that occasion, he played sensibly and saved his team from blushes. Today, Gayle took the attack to the opposition and stunned the Oz at Perth by breath-taking stroke play but a calculated assault on the opposition. IMO, for Gayle this is afterall a first innings that's why he bludgeoned the opposition into submission.
Nobody safe within 110m as skipper Chris Gayle hits century off 70 balls
Lillee laps up larruping Gayle
Snippets:
Chris Gayle's 70-ball century in Perth was the fifth fastest in Tests.
The WACA has hosted some brutal innings and this one probably included the biggest six at the ground, with one of his straight sixes off Nathan Hauritz landing on the roof of the towering Lillee-Marsh Stand.
Gayle barely followed through and with his score on 79 from 46 balls there was a chance he could tackle Viv Richards' record of 56 deliveries. It didn't happen but, like Adam Gilchrist's 57-ball effort in Perth during the 2006-07 Ashes, it didn't matter.
As he exited to the first ball of the 24th over he had all but 34 off his side's 136.
To sum up 395 runs were scored on a day that too on a bouncy pitch like Perth, usually a pace bowler's den.

Bollinger to Roach, OUT, high drama! Australia have appealed for a caught behind and Roach has been given, he wants a review, it's so marginal, can't really tell if he nicked it or not, replays aren't conclusive and in such cases I think the on-field decision should stay, Roach fended at the ball off the back foot as it angled across him ... the Australians were extremely confident ... Hot Spot shows nothing much ... the wait is long and tense ... and he's been given ... fair call too since there was no evidence either way
I think Roach was bit unlucky, Hot spot was clean. Anyway well played WI not only this match, the whole series.

Ponting demands better behaviour from team
The controversy-filled third Test between Australia and the West Indies at Perth saw three Australian players reported to the match referee and fined varying percentages of their match fees - and that fact has not gone down well with Ricky Ponting.
Ponting has made it clear that he expects greater discipline from his team in the future, and that he was disappointed at the actions of the three players - Mitchell Johnson, Brad Haddin and Shane Watson - in question.
While Haddin and Johnson were involved in an ugly altercation with Suleiman Benn, Watson was fined for an over-the-top over-aggressive celebration of Chris Gayle's wicket in the second innings.
"Those guys are a bit embarrassed probably and know that they have overstepped the mark," said Ponting.
"All you can do is talk to them about it after, let them know it's not acceptable and hope that they learn."
"I'm not proud of the fact and I'm sure the players aren't either that we've had three guys reported in the one game," said Ponting.
"Reports have been something that we've been really strict on the last couple of years amongst the player group and we've got a good record the last couple of years.
He added: "When things happen in the spur of the moment it's not as if I can stop or interject as it's happening either, particularly with the one with Haddin and Johnson, and I'm in the changing rooms."
"The three are all relatively young in international cricket and if they didn't know before, they now know the mark that they've overstepped."
Ponting and Australia coach Tim Nielsen have spoken to Haddin, Johnson and Watson and will also now also speak to the rest of the squad.
"Those guys have been spoken about already and we need to talk to the guys as a group at the end of this game," said Ponting.
"There has been enough talk already for the guys to be clear on what is acceptable and it's something that needs to be revisited quite regularly, but at the same time a lot of it is unavoidable.
"We all have responsibilities and one of mine as captain is to make sure guys don't overstep the mark."
In a related development, Anil Kumble called on the ICC to do more to punish the instigators of these incidents and said that the Australians seemed to get away with instigating players, while their opponents invariably ended up getting bans.
