PR, test match craze sari. Ungaloda mana mudhirchikki EtRa game. Adhula pala vishayangaL irukku.
But what I cant understand is the importance of ODI's over T20s. It has outlived its utility, and the popularity of T20 is proof of this fact.
Current situation of ODIs is rendungettan.
Even without T20, one over 10 to win was a batsman's game to lose in recent times. Remember 434?

I am more conservative than you think.I didn't enjoy that match.
In fact Gibbs' knock was great - he is a pleasure to watch when in flow - but it seemed outrageous that a total like that could be set up and chased.
I didn't like the Powerplay introduction. It was among the several suggestions that the likes of Dean Jones submitted in order to break the 400 barrier.
Who the deuce wants that barrier to be broken ? (rhetorical question, please don't answer).
Next...they wanted to make 20-40 overs interesting. What 'exactly' is intestesting ?? I think it was channel nine that started with the statistic: "time since last boundary". I think it was meant as an indicator of the pressure on the battting side, not a an indicator of 'insufficient entertainment for the viewer'. That is precisely what the indicator morphed into and the powerplay rule came into play.
I want the day back where - ceteris paribus - 260 was a decent total to struggle against and achieve. But I know the irreparable damage has been done and all I can do is get off the bus.

PR, exactly. There is no future in ODIs. I am also not as anti-conservative as you might think. I like low-scoring games all around - tests, T20s or ODIs. That 434 game was a disaster - except that since it was the aussies who lost, I chuckled rather heartily.
At the end of the innings in ODIs are T20s, the piece I look forward to most is the Wickets package not the 4's or 6's highlights.
Point being, with all the dressing up with powerplays etc, ODIs completely lack charm.
And I prefer T20s because I need quick-fix cricket apart from the regular test fare. And in their current form, T20s are better suited to that than ODIs.
I say, ODIs MUST DIE

Raina, Zaheer rested, Sachin opts out of Caribbean
The All-India Selection Committee picked the Indian team for the tour of the West Indies later this month on Wednesday.
Two of the selectors, the chairman Krish Srikkanth and Raja Venkat, already monitoring the team's progress in in the UK, communicated with their three colleagues via a teleconference.
The Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni , coach Gary Kirsten, and N Srinivasan, the Hony. Secretary of the BCCI and Convener of the All-India Selection Committee also participated in the meeting.
Mumbai all-rounder Abhishek Nayar is the lone new face in the team that also witnessed the return of Delhi left arm paceman Ashish Nehra .
Suresh Raina was not considered for selection as he has sustained a hairline fracture on his thumb and has been advised two weeks' rest.
Zaheer Khan has been rested and Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar , as reported earlier, had made a request that he be rested for the tour.
The team for West Indies:
Mahendra Singh Dhoni (Captain), Yuvraj Singh (vice-captain), Gautam Gambhir , Rohit Sharma , Harbhajan Singh , Pragyan Ojha , Yusuf Pathan , Murali Vijay, S Badrinath, RP Singh , Praveen Kumar , Ishant Sharma , Abhishek Nayar, Ashish Nehra, Ravindra Jadeja , Dinesh Karthik .

Darren Bravo included for first two ODIs
Darren Bravo, brother of allrounder Dwayne, has earned a maiden West Indies call-up for the first two one-day internationals against India later this month. With Fidel Edwards recovering from a lower back injury and unavailable for selection, the selectors called up allrounder David Bernard in his place.
A left-hand batsman, Darren Bravo scored 605 runs at 43.21 for Trinidad & Tobago in the domestic four-day competition. He was part of the West Indies Under-19 team that played in the 2008 World Cup.
Narsingh Deonarine, another left-handed batsman, has also been included. He was the leading run-scorer in the four-day competition with 1,068 runs at 59.33 with seven half-centuries. Deonarine last played an ODI in 2007.
Bernard, 27, last played an ODI in 2003 but was part of the ICC World Twenty20 squad. Other notable exclusions from West Indies' last ODI assignment, against England in May, are Lendl Simmons, Kieron Pollard, Darren Sammy and Dale Richards.
The first two ODIs are on June 26 and 28 in Kingston.
West Indies: Chris Gayle (capt), Denesh Ramdin (wk), Lionel Baker, Darren Bravo, Dwayne Bravo, Sulieman Benn, David Bernard, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Narsingh Deonarine, Runako Morton, Ravi Rampaul, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Jerome Taylor.

Gayle cautious against weakened India
West Indies captain Chris Gayle has said he is not underestimating the Indians despite the visitors fielding an understrength team for the four-match ODI series in Jamaica and St Lucia.
Sachin Tendulkar and Zaheer Khan have opted for rest while Virender Sehwag and Suresh Raina failed to make the short tour due to injury concerns. Looking ahead, Gayle said India's poor showing in the ICC World Twenty20 - they failed to win any of their Super Eight games - would have no bearing on the forthcoming ODIs. West Indies reached the semi-finals before crashing out to the Sri Lankans but Gayle insisted it was too early to jump the gun and pick a favourite.
"It is never a walkover against India," Gayle told PTI. "There are a lot of guys still there to give us a lot of trouble, so we just have to stick to the game plan and make it a successful one."
Gayle's team-mate Ramnaresh Sarwan also agreed. "The Indians are a very good one-day team and while they may be without a couple of their players, they will prove to be a handful for us," Sarwan said. "But we are in good form and have confidence in our abilities and hopefully, beginning Friday, we can get a good start to the series."
The Indians haven't had the best of fortunes in the Caribbean over the last few years. In 2006, they were comprehensively beaten 4-1 before crashing out of the World Cup in the first round the following year.
West Indies also announced changes to their one-day side for the first two games, the most notable casualty being their in-form bowler Fidel Edwards who's nursing a back injury.
"There are a few changes in the squad, there is Darren Bravo and [Narsingh] Deonarine coming in and it is a good opportunity for them to play an important part against India," Gayle said.
Despite bowing out of the semi-finals, Gayle was happy with his team's comeback after a lacklustre start to the tour, which included a Test and ODI series defeat to England.
"It was a pretty decent performance. We tried our best but in the end it was not to be," Gayle said. "But I am not disheartened. In fact, I am proud of the guys, as at the championship, not many were expecting us to reach that far.
"The aim was to bring home the trophy and make everyone happy, especially the fans. Having said that, however, it was a wonderful experience, one that I think will serve the team well going into the future and one that should serve us well when we host the next World Twenty20 Championship here in the Caribbean."
Meanwhile, three Indian players - M Vijay, S Badrinath and Abhishek Nayar - are yet to depart for the West Indies as they are awaiting their UK transit visas. "They will get their visas today and are set to leave tonight (Monday)," a BCCI source told PTI. "They are scheduled to reach Jamaica by tomorrow evening local time."

Dhoni shows that he is certainly a different captain. I can remeber incidents where past captains esp. SMG never included a player if he has done something against him. This attitude was with many past Indian captains. Remember how Venkat was treated by various captains.
Giving a chance for Nehra was certainly a good move. I think he certainly bowled well for a person who was away from international cricket for more than 4 years

Enna periya pressure - if he had got out early after 82/8 then nobody would have blamed him much. And there was no run rate to keep up - just survive there and you'll be praised. Absolute win win for his nurdle and nudge technique.
