Yusuf, Pragyan get a call as Ganguly ignored for ODI team again
Mumbai: Indian selectors have rewarded all-rounder Yusuf Pathan and Pragyan Ojha for their excellent performance in the IPL.
The selection panel met here Friday to pick the team for next month's ODI tri-series in Bangladesh and the subsequent Asia Cup in Pakistan, two tournaments for which Sachin Tendulkar has been ruled out because of injury. While Tendulkar is still recovering from a groin injury, pacer Zaheer Khan is also likely to sit out for the week-long Bangladesh tour because of an ankle injury.
There was a strong possibility that the five-member selection panel may draft in a few young players, who have made their presence felt in the ongoing Indian Premier League, for the Bangladesh trip, to be held from June 8-14.
Besides, Chief Selector Dilip Vengsarkar also had to decide on the fate of senior players like Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly.
The two former India skippers were not picked for the last ODI series played by India, the triangular series in Australia that India won for the first time by a comprehensive 2-0 margin over the reigning world champions in this format of the game.
M S Dhoni will lead the team with Yuvraj Singh as his deputy.
Squad: MS Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, Piyush Chawla, RP Singh, Praveen Kumar, S Sreesanth, Rohit Sharma, Robin Uthappa, Suresh Raina, Ishant Sharma and Prgyan Ojha.

idhukku mEla ganguly can't do anything.. He was in prime form when they dropped him.. Also he has won two games in tonty tonty the so-called youngsters game.. In fact he has played much better than savi in savi's most favorite format.. Ganguly can better call it quits - from ODIs that is..

You have a good heart. But to the best of my knowledge, no great player who has contributed to the team cause has been given a proper send off by the BCCI. That is the way BCCI works and it has treated greats with disdain.

Wahab Riaz to Sehwag, SIX, First Six of the game. He cleared his front foot and swung a full delivery over long-on. No IPL commentators to shout out that its **** moment of success or it's a *** maximum.
BTW India are 159/1 in 21.4 ovrs.... Wah Yusuf Pathan, Dhoni, Raina and RS Sharma to come in after this... What a start...

Vaasthavam dhaan.
But then, that day a certain gentleman , allegedly weak when chasing under pressure, gave us a fantastic explosive start. Two others showed amazing tenacity fighting dehydration and attacking bowling and ensured that we were never out of sight. Then finally one fellow booked himself a six month national berth and hogged undue limelight with a single bloody boundary

Four consecutive boundaries off Aquib Javed
And the six off Saqlain Mushtaq's first ball

I've always thought Robin Singh never got the credit he deserved (particularly for this match)

I agree. It was a gem of an innings.
He made a run a ball 83
with just 4 fours and 2 sixes. Which means 55 (76) were earned by running. He was Gangulay's nightmare running partner.
Ganguly was dehydrated with all the running and was just flat out. I remember the image of an exhausted Ganguly's legs being lifted up an massaged by Rashid Latif. And Robin looking on perplexed not understanding what it means to be unfit

Day before yesterday I was thinking that India will struggle in the finals and as I thought they failed miserably. Chasing 316 under lights is not easy but but...
something was wrong, yeah, planning! How they can allow, top No:2, No:3 batsman to play for so long and what Dhoni was doing in the final 10 overs?RR was climbing up as 6,7,8...and finally 11 but still he was scoring in singles like 1,1,0,2,0,1 in all the overs!
And I found Dhoni's plan was overall a failure and crap when he scored a single and gave strike to Ishant [no:11 batsman] when around 35 runs needed in 3 overs.
