They have never won the European Cup..
If u put all Champions League trophies of Man Utd, Arsenal, and Chelsea won match Liverpool alone..
Liverpool have won 5.. latest one was in 2004/05 season..
winning the trophy after were being down 3-0 in 1st half..
that final was also hailed as best Final in European Cup Football History...

Raul is a good player technically with good ball control but i dunt think he is world class. Ruud van nistelrooy is more all rounded that raul. He can hold up the ball better and has much more better dribbling skills. His finishing is even more clinical.

No, u cant say Raul isnt' world class. he was Real and Spain's golden boy just 3-4 years ago.. he was one of the biggest victim of the ridiculous Galacticos' policy.. even Sir Alex descirbed Raul as the best player in world just over 3 seasons ago.. he became quite injury-prone after that and ths signing of Ronaldo took the gloss of him and he became unhappy after the sale of his good friends Morientes and Hierro..
for me he is still the Real's hero..
and here's a fact for u..
he is the best champions league striker of all time.. (his record could be broken)

Hes younger than both Sheva and Nistel
And both of them have ab 10 to reach him
I dont think his record will be broken in the near future
And he was the chief factor in takin back Real to its former glory playin a vital part in all 3 of its recent European cup(of coz scored in critical times in most of the matches) and all of its last three Liga titles
Real with Raul/Hierro/Morientes achieved much more than the real with 11 super stars
Hes reals real unsung hero

His record can be broken by ruud...raul has 52 goals in what 94 games? ruud is 49 goals in 56 games or something. Ruud was champions league top scorer for three seasons. Raul has been playing the champs league longer than ruud but ruud is already nearing him. I prefer ruud as although he can be selfish, his ability to pick out players and dribbling skills impress me...sadly nowadays he just focusses on scoring and not much on dribbling and holding up.

Juventus relegated to Serie B with 36 points deficit i think.
AC Milan in Seria A but with 44 points deficit...effectively ruling them out of champions league qualification for next season.
Fiorentina i believe have also been relegated to Serie B
So title champions Juventus have been stripped of their title and Inter Milan gets the title
Getafe winning real madrid is not a surprise...with Capello bringing in the players who destroyed real's defense...they looked damn shakey....in fact 1-0 loss is very lucky for real already.
Chelsea will win...even if sheva does not score Chelski can still win...they are too powerful in the mid area ..

Barca look to give Chelsea the blues, Milan to get off the mark
by Pirate Irwin
PARIS (AFP) - European giants Barcelona and Inter Milan go into battle on Wednesday looking to boost what has been a disappointing start to their Champions League campaigns. Barcelona travel to Chelsea for what promises to be another epic battle between the two sides after two bruising encounters in successive seasons which has seen Chelsea knockout Barca out two terms ago and the Catalan giants get their revenge last season.
Inter have a virtual do or die game in their bid to qualify for the knockout stages as they have yet to register a point but must fancy their chances at home to Spartak Moscow, who have only got a point.
Barcelona trail the Premiership champions by two points in the group but may well be licking their lips at the thought of their strike force squaring up to third choice 'keeper Hilario.
Hilario, who is in line to play because Petr Cech suffered a fractured skull against Reading and second choice Carlo Cudicini was concussed in the same match, has shipped six goals in two previous meetings with Barcelona when he was at Porto.
Despite this Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has given him his full backing.
"Hilario is a goalkeeper with experience," said Mourinho.
"When he was at Porto he played two Champions League matches against Barcelona. So no problem, I trust him and the team trust him."
Another man with something to prove but with a much more glittering career is Barcelona's world player of the year Ronaldinho, whose under par performances at the World Cup finals have been followed by reports that he had fallen out with club coach Frank Rijkaard.
Ronaldinho insists he had been inspired by criticism of his displays.
"If they (the media) criticise me it is because they know that I can do more and I am motivated to continue working and improving," said Ronaldinho, who showed glimpses of his best form at the weekend scoring twice against Sevilla.
"I listen to constructive criticism and do not pay attention if they do not contribute anything useful.
"I am happy because things have gone well. Although I am not at 100 percent, I know that I can improve and my only motivation is to work more to get close to my best."
Adriano is another Brazilian international who has struggled this season but will be expected to step up to the plate for Inter against Spartak, who they have not lost to in four meetings.
Adriano's last goal came against Villarreal in the Champions League on March 29, but Inter Milan chief Massimo Moratti refused to criticise the 24-year-old striker.
"It's a difficult moment for him, but he is not the only player in the team who is having trouble scoring," he said. "I'm sure he will turn it around soon."
Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez would also like to see his 2005 Champions League winners turn around their away form as they travel to French side Bordeaux.
Liverpool have yet to win away from home in all seven matches this season and not scored an away goal since the end of August.
Benitez puts it down more to some of his players being below their best rather than a fear of playing away from home.
"It's clear some of our more established players need to be at the top of their game," Benitez said.
"If you look at our formation for the Blackburn game (a 1-1 home draw on Saturday), we had the same back four, with Xabi Alonso in front of the defence, that has done so well for us last season. We had the same players there, but we need to get the balance right when we are attacking because, like the Galatasaray game, we were vulnerable to counter-attacks.
"Saturday was disappointing again, but for 30 minutes of the second half we played much better football, we attacked well and the crowd was really behind us. The problem is we are only playing like this for 30 minutes now when we know we must do this for 90."
While Inter may have problems in even getting a point thusfar fellow Italian giants AS Roma have at least got three on the board - they trail Spanish side Valencia by three points - but travel to Greek side Olympiakos with four key players unavailable.
Midfielder David Pizarro has flown back to Chile for personal reasons while Brazilian winger Mancini, French defender Philippe Mexes and striker Vincenzo Montella are all injured.

Chelsea will win...even if sheva does not score Chelski can still win...they are too powerful in the mid area ..
Juventus stripped of last two titles and relegated to Serie B with -12 points penalty..
Milan started the season with -8 points deficit
Lazio started with -9 points defeicit
Fiorentina started with -19 points.
Fiorentina and Juve's champions league places went to Chievo (they lost in qualifiers) and AS Roma.. Milan qulaifeid because even with points reduction, their points total were enough to secure them 3rd place in 2005/06 season...
Milan have problems scoring.. Gilardino, yet to score a goal.
Fiorentina have best finsiher in Serie A, Luca Toni.. but they have a weak defence..
Inter should win this time. but they dont have a fixed line-up.. much similar to Liverpool in England..
I like Roma's approach.. their squad full of homegrown players.. De Rossi, Aquilani, Cassetti and Aleandro Rosi all have been impressive..

Five alive as Brits dominate Champions League
by Justin Davis
PARIS (AFP) - British hopes of triumphing in Europe's premier club competition were flying high on Wednesday after an unprecedented five clubs qualified for the lucrative knockout phase of the Champions League. Manchester United survived an early scare at Old Trafford to send ambitious Benfica packing 3-1 and into the UEFA Cup, while Arsenal played out a 0-0 draw with another Portuguese side, FC Porto, to join them in the last 16.
English champions Chelsea had qualified with room to spare, as had Liverpool and Scottish champions Celtic, who were comprehensively defeated 3-1 at FC Copenhagen as the Danes fought to restore some viking pride.
All four English Premiership clubs topped their respective groups, meaning the cross-Premiership clashes will be avoided at least until the quarter-finals.
Only Celtic, who finished second in group F behind Manchester United, failed to avoid that relative setback which means the Scottish champions will play the first leg of the knockout phase at home.
But just how long any of the five Brits survive is another matter.
The likes of nine-times European champions Real Madrid, two-time champions Barcelona and six-times champions AC Milan are all in the hat for the December 15 draw.
United manager Alex Ferguson was buoyed by his team's performance on the night, and hopes the two-time winners can go one better than last year's beaten finalists Arsenal.
"There's lot of quality there in the last 16 now - five British teams - and it's absolutely fantastic," said Ferguson. "One of the British teams can win it, hopefully it's us."
From the five British teams still involved have come eight victories in the competition.
Liverpool were the last British club to win the continental crown when they won it for a fifth time in 2005, while Celtic became the first British club to be champions of Europe, in 1967.
Neither Arsenal nor Chelsea have won the European crown while United have won it twice.
Compare that to records elsewhere on the continent though and the Europeans' track record shines through.
Three Spanish sides have made the weight for the last 16, with defending and 1992 champions Barcelona squeezing in at the last minute with a 2-0 win over Werder Bremen at the Nou Camp on Tuesday.
Nine-times European champions Real Madrid, who were already qualified after finishing second in group E behind French champions Lyon, finished their group campaign with a 2-2 draw away to Dynamo Kiev with a brace from Ronaldo putting the cherry on the cake.
Valencia, the UEFA Cup winners in 2004, have yet to win the Champions League but qualified with ease from a relatively easy group D with four wins from six matches.
The Champions League would not be complete without the Italians. Some of their top clubs, including six-time European champions AC Milan, became embroiled in a match-fixing scandal last season but still the football-mad 'Azzurri' went on to win the World Cup.
On Wednesday AC Milan fell 2-0 at home to Lille, allowing the French side to join the last 16 party for the first time.
It was a great performance from one of France's solid league clubs, and one which their manager, Claude Puel, was only to happy to shout about.
"We showed a lot of maturity, a lot of know-how," said Puel, who has been to the semi-finals of the competition both as a player and as an assistant coach at his former club, Monaco.
"We stayed calm and didn't give any opportunities to Milan, and I think in the end they were lucky we didn't score even more."
AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti admitted they had played badly, but promised a re-invigorated approach to the competition once key players return from injury.
"We'll now wait to see what the draw gives us and, in February, we will welcome back a few key players who have been injured."
AC Milan, like the other group winners, will have the advantage of an away tie first in the next round while two-time winners Inter Milan, who finished second in group B behind Bayern Munich, will play at home first.
Roma, like Lille, joined the last 16 for the first time when they beat Valencia 1-0 on Tuesday to finish second in group D.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, who has just celebrated 10 years working with the Gunners, joined his old foe, Ferguson, in applauding the influence of the Premiership on the competition.
"That shows how much the Premiership has improved," Wenger told Sky Sports.
Arsenal, who are only just getting over their defeat in last year's final, could face Barcelona in the next round, in a rematch of last year's final.
The other clubs to qualify were 1988 winners PSV Eindhoven, four-time winners Bayern Munich and two-time winners FC Porto.

Bayern won again against Real. Bayern is the only team RM is really afraid of. RM couldn´t win any of the last 9 meetings between the two teams in Munich. BTW the goal from Roy Maakay is the fastest since CL started. 9.59

van Bommel seems to be the next Effenberg.

Van Bommel is more polished....his tackling is spot on and distribution is effective...Effenberg is more offensive and can be wayward with his late tackles at times..but his passing and vision is something that beats bommel...

Hi Hulkster,
Ofcourse Van Bommel and Effenberg played different positions. I meant the leadership qualities. This is also the first season for Van Bommel after such a disappointing season in Barcelona. The goal he prepared for Podolski against Werder Bremen is one of the best I have ever seen. I hope Bayern is not weakened due to his absence against AC Milan.

Bayern should have sufficient firepower..they have another advanced version of bommel in hargreaves..should be a interesting match..gattuso vs hargreaves and de pirlo amongst the midst...a battle of technical flair and tackling.
Yeah your right about leadership qualities...remember effenberg shouting at one of his midfielders during the 00-01 CL season for just losing possession

Chelsea 2 - Valencia 1 [3-2 on aggregate]
Hope Liverpool sink Chelsea in the semis...
It's going to be very difficult for Milan to beat Munich in an away match. They have to score atleast twice....

Bayern's chances are high. Milan have to attack in this match and that could make them vulnerable.
If Liverpool qualify that'll mean 3 English teams in the semis. I just hope it doesn't turn out to be an all English Final .

I am anti-ManU..So I want Milan/Bayern to win. I predict Milan winning in Munich. And hopefully they beat ManU in the semis.
From a hardcore Arsenal fan, I think Liverpool will win this year. It's a guess and built from bias against Chelsea, Man U, Milan and Bayern Munich.
So my choice(preference) would be Kop, Milan,or Munich, vellakanai or vengayum (ManU or chelsea)!
Preferred Finals: Milan vs Liverpool
Preferred Winner: Liverpool

ThalaNass you are perfectly right to mention where i´s Bayern now. The way how they played the game after the 33rd min was not worth to watch. Infact I left the stadium during the 80th minute atleast to avoid the crowd to the parkingspace.
I am sorry for all the Bayern fans that they have to see such a game. I mean you can loose a game but not in this way. As you could see both the goals were scored through the center. Hopefully a perfect n. 10 can be arranged for the next season.
May the best one win the CL cup

None of the English players except Stephen Gerrard and John Terry are actually worth that much money. Rooney and Lampard are not worth it because one is a big headache while other is inconsistent. David Beckham can sell you shirts. So he is a good marketing buy. A big merchandise. Ferdinand and Ashley cole are pretty good but still they aren't worth that much money. My question is, why English players are overpriced? Their teenagers for example are sold for double the price. While Theo Walcott had a tag of about 12 Pounds(18m euros roughly) when Wenger got him. Arsenal's Le prof AW always gets good buys for nuts and make them into a superstar like Cesc Fabregas quite recently. Fran Merida is another promising kid he has already got this year from Barca.
Hargreaves is not worth that much money.

Manutd vs Milan Seems tough...since Manutd have adopted a unconventional 4-5-1 with scholes rooney and carrick and giggs and ronaldo on the flanks...it might bode well..the big threat is milan's midfield..they are very ball-possesive people...if we can stop pirlo and co we have a chance of getting over them.
Liverpool vs chelsea looks very interesting...i have a feeling its liverpool vs milan again

Raikkonen,
Nice to meet a fellow Kimi supporter
Liverpool v Man Utd -Exciting derby, kop vs Stretford End, but the blood flows through Athens.
Would Prefer the Scousers to win!
Liverpool v Milan (Ataturkl rematch), record-tallying opportunity for , as it would equal AC Milan's 6 UCL titles
Liverpool to win
Chelsea v Man Utd(Battle for honor), who will win the EPL! Two big competitions already. (I hate this)
Definitely not the team which wins EPL.
Chelsea v Milan (Sheva's homecoming). Yeah, I could foretell the possibility of Chelsea's greed to buy Kaka soon. Although I really doubt whether he would go there.
But It's not that exciting to see Chelsea play Italian sides. It will be tactical and bore us to death. Remember the Juve-Milan finals.
Anyway, Milan to win.

Never mind that Chelsea may not top the Premiership this season. But Jose Mourinho is one coach who seems to know how to keep things going for the team and Chelsea owe their current run solely to him. That said, I am disappointed with the way Shevchenko has played this season. When is he going to perform and justify his transfer?

why u guys want Milan to go through..
Just watch tonight's match guys, United will show what class they are..
BTW, im afraid for Scholes,C.Ronaldo and Heinze bcoz they are one yellow card away from missing final, should Unitd qualify.. If scholes get yellow card then he'll miss the final for the second time aftr missng final match in 1999..
hopefuLLy United go all the way having aLmost win the Premier League title..

Woo Hoo, NOW I am excited about the finals. Thanks to Milan for killing the prospect of two English teams in final. They thoroughly dominated today and Ronaldo was unlucky that the referee saw through his theatrics today. Such practices seriously undermine his playing abilities.
Atleast Man U have the Premiership going for them. They should be thankful for that!!

Now Didn't I tell you guys..Talk about premonitions..talk about foretelling..talk about the art of 'predicting'..Seri seri romba peethika koodadhu! For once, calculative 'bode' works!!!!
Seedorf was a revelation. He played brilliantly down the left midfield!!!!
Kaka shows Ronaldo how to play football instead of doing 360 turns and stepovers while loosing the ball like a school kid.
All hail Kaka.
It's Liverpool - Milan yet again...
Now let's wait for Gerrard - Kaka showdown. I can't pick the side.
Anyway looking forward to a great final like the last one!!!

Milan Pool again... Awesome.. Rematch of 2005..
It will be a great match, but im pretty sure the match wont match 2005 final in terms of excitement, drama and awesomeness..... i'm waiting for this match...
But im really scare of Milan's backlash.. they're wounded lions
Matches wise Pool v Chelsea was awesome (**** 1/4) match.. very little action, but the ANFIELD crowd absolutely made this match. period.. Some Mancs and Barcelona fans might say they have the best fans.. but i can seriously
at them.. Nothing beats Anfield environement (maybe i'm biased
)
MU v Milan ***... Im stripping 2 stars because it was all about Milan.. Milan trying to play, but MU just trying to defend their lead.. Kaka ripped the midfield.. Nice to see Gilar scoring again..
And for the final, It's almost certain that Rafa will play Bellamy up front if Maldini is fit for Milan.. But They willfear for Gerrard more than us fearing for Kaka..

Gattuso is the main factor that separed both teams but atleats United should be glad that they have doubles ( EPL and FA Cup)
to be grabbed..
having said that, i want Milan to win champions league as Liverpool didnt play any exciting football at aLL..
Kaka and co really played some wntertain yet efficient football.. good luck to them..
all the best United players.. u did ur best.. United is best.. i mean always best..

Superb finals ! I think that Giggs's shot should have been awarded a goal as the keeper was inside by a fair distance !
The ultimate goal , tapping between 3 and final shot was fantastic !
Great match. Both Chelsea and MU played equally well

Holy Calf.. Less than 18 hours to go.....
2005 final was the best european cup final ever, best european game ever, perhaps the best game ever period...
After the shambles at Wembley, this has a lot of pressure on it now, and it's sure to deliver. The expectation levels are through the roof after the events in Istanbul two years ago, and although we can't realistically expect the same drama, it should be another fascinating contest
MEEEEEEEELAN
Pros
- They have some fella called Kaka'
- Nesta is back on form
- They will be ridiculously pumped up for this
- Their Champions League form has been exceptional, barring round two
- Clarence Seedorf is showing his best form in a decade
- If they establish a midfield passing game, they will dominate
Cons
- Maldini is showing defensive lapses
- Oddo looks vulnerable, and subsequently, a Liverpool wide game may hurt them
- They will be ridiculously pumped up for this
- With Gilardino hit and miss, and Ronaldo cup-tied, they look a little goal shy up front
- If they're taken out of their tactical comfort zone, they may lose their balance
LIVERPOOL
Pros
- They have a psychological advantage from Istanbul
- Their defence looks impenetrable at times
- They have better defensive midfielders than United did
- They have crossers from the flanks (Finnan, Gerrard, Pennant) who can put decisive balls into the box
- They have Stevie Gerrard
- Crouch can be their trump card
- They would win penalties
Cons
- They are not as good as Meeeeelan!!!
- Bolo Zenden may play
- If you think about their goal threat, its either a Riise screamer or Gerrard that comes to mind
- Kuyt and Crouch can be brilliant, but they are not deadly goalscorers
- If they don't neutralise Kaka' they are in serious trouble
- However, if they focus too heavily on the Brazilian it could free up space for the rest of the Meeeelan midfield
i can't predict the game seriosuly, i'm very scared aof vengeful Meeelan side, but they've been talkinga lot, and Pool and Rafa has been very silent.. let do the talking on the pitch...

Liverpool had chances to convert and were let down by a fluke first goal by inzaghi..but were indecisive to let milan win...by right liver should have won this game
Congrats Milan...

They did not really beat us...we gave them the game...even though we set to defend...we defended with a lethargic back four and with injuries and games taking the toll on us(the 4-2 victory over everton added to the fatigue)...we had no hope while AC Milan rested all their players for serie A and had a fully fit team to face us
Nvm...adutta varusham paarthukkuvom..eppo Milan ku congrats

i can't even write here, because i'm really sad.. but i'm proud of Liverpool players who actually shut the critics with positive display.. it was the best Liverpool perofmance i've seen for ages.. still it wasn't heartbreaking as milan suffered 2 years ago.. this was a good game but not even close to the Istanbul game, in terms of excitement and drama
Heartbreak for Liverpool in Athens.
Liverpool were by far the better side but as the saying goes "you can't win if you don't score".
I won't go into too much detail on the game but Liverpool did all the ugly bits well. They squeezed Milan and forced them into narrow positions meaning they pretty much nullified their threat very well. Due to the pressing from the Liverpool midfield and the extremely effective Maschereno Milan never had time on the ball and were rarely able to put two passes together. The contrast in performances between tonight and two weeks ago at the San Siro was hugely surprising and it was like watching two completely different sides. Pennant exposed the narrowness of Milan's side by repeatedly finding space down the Milan left but the main problem was that his delivery wasn't very good at the times it really needed to be. There was one instance in the first half when he broke through and fizzed the ball back to Gerrard instead of gently playing it back to put the Liverpool skipper in.
Man of the Match: Jermaine Pennant, most liveliest attacking player on the pitch, perhaps his best performance in red shirt. Today we saw the best and worst of Jermaine, some excellent runs left Jankulovski dumfounded, worst, his crossing..
when i think back, yeah 2 finals in 3 years is not bad... Arsenal and Chelsea haven't done it their entire history and MU have been to final twice in their entire history.. It's not bad.. I'm being brutally positive for young side like Pool....
