Ding, Ding, Ding.
The bell rung as Neha circumbulated the temple. She prostrated herself before Lord Ganesha.
Two years had passed.
Naveen had given up on Priya. Neha was seeing his friend, Shankar.
She got up and started walking towards the door. Two hands covered her eyes.
"Guess who?"
She pushed the hands away and turned around. It was Shankar.
"What are you doing here? Behave yourself. We're in the temple!" she scolded him and pretending to be angry with him, she pushed past him and hurriedly walked outside.
"Neha, wait!" he called after her.
She turned around,
"What do you want? You've already decided to leave me and go to University."
" Neha, I have to. This will affect my life."
"Yes, you'll find some beautiful girl and completely forget me."
"Neha," he grabbed her arm and made her look at him," I love you and no one else. I'll wait for you. And I know you love me, right?"
" I....I....,'" she faltered, then," Oh go away you wretched fellow. You're all the same. You tell a girl you love her and then leave her and completely forget about her."
"Neha," he called after her as she walked off,"Don't do this to me. Neha, you didn't answer my question. Neha......."
She'd already gone.

Neha looked behind her as she hurried on. No, he wasn't following her. She got to the bus stop.
She felt the tears welling up from her hot eyes.

Why? Why did this always happen to her? Every single relationship she had had, failed.
There was Shiva, than Vijay and now, Shankar.

She knew why they had all failed. It wasn't there fault. It was hers.

In all her relationships, she found herself comparing them with Naveen. Almost as if she wanted them to be exactly like him. She could never even say "I love you". It unnerved her.

She sat there rocking to and fro. She hated herself. Why did she compare them?

She knew she loved Naveen. In what way she didn't know. In an indirect way, he had been the cause of all her failed relationships.

Little did she know that he would be the reason for that fateful night, the reason for the distress of a young woman in 10 years time, crying over a photo. To be married to a man she didn't love.

Shivering and crying she sat there. Unaware of the turmoil to come.
