Outside the snow was falling heavily. The grass had turned white. Birds sat on the fences, nearly frozen to death. Winter had lain her snowy blanket.
Divya sat in her sofa reading a book and listening to "Walking in a Winter Wonderland" on the radio.
The phone rang.
Sighing, she put down her book, turned off the radio and picked up her cell phone.
"Hello"
"Hi, Divya, it's Sanjeev."
"Oh, Hi Sanjeev, how's it going?"
"Fine, fine, fine. I have something important to tell you".

Something important to tell you.............

Divya's hand started to sweat, her heart started beating wildly. Was this it? The something for which for so long she wanted to hear from him. Two years she had waited. Waited, waited for this moment.
How frustrated she had been. How much she had longed for this moment. Was it now? Was it? Questions raced through her mind.

"Divya, are you there,"
Sanjeev's question bought her back to reality.

"Hmm,oh yes, go on,"
"Well, I wanted to tell you for a long time but I don't know how to say this......"
Divya, waited, silent, hoping.
Then,
"Well, spit it out Sanjeev!"

"Divya, I'm getting married."
"Married," she croaked," to who?"
"Swapna, you know Balaji uncle's daughter. ?"
"Yes."
"Well, we've been in love for the last year and finally uncle has agreed to our marriage. We're getting married in two weeks."
"Hmmm."
"Are you OK? Anyway, you'll get an invitation soon.I just wanted to tell you the good news. Look, I've got to go now. I meeting some mates. See you."
The phone went dead.

Divya stared at the phone. She stared at it for a long time before the tears came.
