I recall reading somewhere about aluminium poisoning. Does this mean we shouldnt be using cookers for cooking?

Don't worry, our body has an automatic flushing system.

I've read and been told by people who are extremely aware and health conscious that the use of aluminium pots for cooking is directly linked to Alzhimer's disease.
I wonder how the body's flushing system deals with daily dozes of aluminium.
These days we get excellent quality sandwich bottom stainless steel cooking pots (Fizzler brand).

Ironically, the 'extremely aware and health conscious' seem to be the least immune to diseases.
Of course, sellers of branded iron-ware condemn aluminium-ware!
But what are drink cans made of - aluminium. Beans come in cans made of iron, coated with zinc (not sure).

Foods high in acidity ( eg tomatoes, tamarind, lemon juice, and so and so) do leach aluminum from vessel into the food. Amount leached and absorbed in food is small. Hence occasional cooking will not hurt provided you do not get excessive aluminum from other sources. Repeated such cooking will definitely increae Aluminum levels in body and are difficult to reduce.
Use of aluminum in medical devices is forbiden or severly restricted for the sanm reason.
And yes, excessive levels of Aluminum in nervous system does cause problems similar to Alzheimer's etc.

What about the enamel coated stainless steel vessels -- they look very pretty but are they safe to cook & store food in? What is the enamel made of & is it scratch resistant? Can anybody please advise?
