I live in the middle east and wish to purchase Mutton from our local butcher.
As it is a Muslim country, I need to know the Muslim word for Mutton. My poor butcher does not know what I want and I do not know how to explain.
Can anyone help me?

Is mutton also lamb? Or are they two different things?

My dear tamil pal,
Mutton is both lamb as well as goat's meat!in india ,it mostly means goat's meat,in the middle east both lamb and goat's meat is 'laham',in the west its usually lamb, though there are special recipes where the word lamb is used as in lamb roast, goat in goat's cheese etc.
happy cooking!rooparaj
