I would be thankful if someone could tell me what kashmir chilly is and how it looks like.

Hello Mary,
Kashmir chilly is "ALL COLOUR AND NO HEAT".
You can buy MDH readymade powder.
In South India, we have our own version in " BEDAGI" Which is what I use at home.All colour , no bite.
The chilly pod is long and wrinkled like old people's skin.
If you break it, you have very strong aroma and orange colour.
On powdering it gives bright red colour.
There is another version of deep coloured Chilli with very broad pods and deep red colour which is from Andhra.It is hot but within limits.It is known as "RESHAM PATTI"
bUT THESE TEND TO TURN BLACK IF POWDERED AT HIGH SPEED IN MACHINE.oN STORAGE THEY LOSE COLOUR.
Bedagi is best in this respect.
