Hi friends,
I am South Indian vegetarian and trying to watch my weight. I would like to know the calories in the common South Indian foods like sambar, rasam, dosa, adai, idli etc. Are there any tables available? Thanks, Lakshmi

The calories in cooked food depends on how you cook it, how much oil you add, etc.
Cooked white rice has about 200 calories per cup.
An average size roti (no oil) is about 100 calories
Dosa is about 100 calories each too without oil.
Oil is about 50 calories (all of it fat calories) per teaspoon.

Here's a document that lists quite a few SI foods.

However, your most accurate measure will be by doing the calorie counting yourself since your recipe is likely to be differnt from others.
