Hello Bombay folks,
I happened to eat some roasted peanuts in Bombay this summer, they looked a little different than the ones that I had eaten in the past. They are toasted either dipping in the kadala mavu or rice folur. I am not sure. They tasted so good and my children are asking me to get them. None of the Indian stores in my area carry them. So I tried making them in the kadalamavu and it did not taste anywhere near. Have any idea what that might be made of?
Thanks for your help.
Prabha.

hi prabha,
ya i know to make it, first fry peanuts separately. then next is more important, take kadalamavu in a bowl, red chilli powder, salt and kaaayam (Heenk powder mix it well) now, put these roasted pea nut into this mixture, just sprikle littel water, just as to have a covering of kadalamaavu, the water content is very ver important if u put water more, the item will be spongy. so just sprinkle water and in malayalam it is called :Perattal:, and try and enjoy and give to your kids.

Hi Prabha,
Here is one recipe from net...
1 cup Salted Roasted Peanuts
1/2 cup Gram flour
1/4th cup Rice flour
1 1/2 teaspoon Chili powder
1/4th to 1/2 teaspoon Salt
1. Sieve gram flour and rice flour through a fine sieve.
2. Mix gram flour, rice flour, chili powder and salt together in a bowl.
3. Stir in the peanuts and slowly add four to five tablespoons of water. The peanuts get well coated with a thickish mixture.
4. Heat oil in a wok / kadai and drop the peanuts into the hot oil. Separate the peanuts that clump together. Deep fry over medium heat till the peanuts are golden brown. Allow to cool and place in an airtight container
