Yeast is available with all shops and mostly with shops dealing in catering items. It is available as a paste and dry granules.Dry yeast is best and it should be stored in a airtight container.

I never get yeast doubled as they say in the recipe. I tried to add it in warm water with sugar or add directly to the flour. Noting worked. I occasionally like to make pizza and bread.

Hello:
Yeast is available in most grocery stores. The Red Star brand is an active dry yest, that can be stored in an airtight container ( I prefer the freezer). Watch out for expiration date on package before buying.
As far as the doubling of dough is concerned, I have tried several different kinds of yeast. Always follow the instructions on the yeast package - to the letter. Always add the yeast last, just before starting to knead the dough.
Try this - once the dough is kneaded with yeast per recipe instructions, place it in a container double its sixe, cover the container with plastic wrap/warm cloth, and place it in a warm place. An oven with the light is good place to get the dough to rise. Most of all, it takes time for the dough to rise - this depends on the kind of yeast used.
Just my 2 cents from my kitchen exploits.
Ciao.
