"Fresh mint juice taken every day or fresh chopped mint leaves boiled in a cup of water and sip slowly after meals.
Not a remedy for heartburn. Mint relaxes the eosophagal lock, and helps release gas in the stomach in small quantities. Can cause acid reflux if taken every day. Bad. And I have no idea how or why cumin seeds help. Silly

i hv been experiencing acidity for the last couple of months, it subsides if you eat something, in the middle of the night again the pain comes for a while. During day along with the pain in the upper stomach i also simultenously have back pain which i find very disturbing. Both are related. Can u suggest a good remedy ? or what u think i should do. ur help will be appreciated.

I think you should consult a doctor.
Acidity can be avoided by eating un-oily, un-spicy food at the right time interval. You should never allow your stomach to go hungry for long. Stress causes acidity. Lead a stress-free life.
But your back pain maybe a cause for concern, thats why I suggest u see a doctor. You did not say where you get a pain your back. I know of people who had backpain because there was unrinary tract infection/kidney stones. The kidney is placed antomically in our lower back on either sides. So if there is any inefections or kidney stones, one tends to get a back pain. The back pain may be due to some other reason.
Thats why its always better to get your backpain diagnosed.
I hope it helps.

Hi raj,
herez the reciepe for pullikachal,a very simple way
soak a good quantity of tamrind in hot water, allow it to soak for abt 10mins.after that remove the pulp,it should aprox be about 4-5cups.
meanwhile grind corriander seeds (daniya seeds) n red chillis into a fine powder.
heat til oil take abt 5-6spoons of oil
splatter mustard seeds, methi seeds, udad dal, channa dal ,re chilli, hing, curry leaves & groundnuts.fry them till golden brown.
put 1spoon of red chilli powder,1/2 sp of turmeric powder n add the tamrind water into it.
once it is boiling add the salt acc to taste,n the grinded powder.
allow it to reduce in volume, soon u will see the oil leaving the sides of the pan.when it attains a cutney consistancy, remove from flame.check for the salt n chilli,if more add a little jaggery in the end.
mix it with rice for pulliodirai.

Taken from THE WORLD BOOK MEDICAL ENCYCLOPEDIA
**********************************************
Heartburn, also known as pyrosis, is a burning sensation in the esophagus caused by acid rising from the stomach. It is most frequently associated with indigestion. The condition is loosely defined, and it can vary according to situation and person. Acute indigestion is unpleasant, and the chronic form is debilitating. Chronic indigestion is sometimes a symptom of more serious disorders such as chronic pancreatis, cardiac pain, peptic ulcer. Indigestion is also common during the later stages of pregnancy.
Treatment:Treatment depends on the cause of indigestion. Many patients find that the symptoms inprove after a light, easily digestible meal or a glass of milk. Others find that an antacid medicine brings relief.
If the symptoms are severe enough to interfere with normal life or to disturb sleep, a physician should be consulted as soon as possible.

A safe, easy way to relive nausea (including in pregnancy) is to chew fresh ginger, or make a tea by boiling ginger in water for several minutes. In addition, ginger ale works OK.

visit this website for wonderful medicines
http://www.homemademedicine.com/
Heartburn is a burning sensation and pain in the stomach and chest, behind the breastbone. The symptoms of heartburn are the following: bloating, gas, nausea, shortness of breath and/or an acidic or sour taste in the throat and mouth.
Heartburn is caused when hydrochloric acid, which is use to digest food, is release up the esophagus. On its way up the acid irritates the sensitive tissues in the esophagus and throat. Usually the esophageal sphincter muscle contracts thus preventing the stomach acid from shooting up into the esophagus, but if this muscle is not functioning properly, the acid can slip past it and this is when heartburn symptoms start, however it is called Gastroesophageal reflux disease because of the muscle malfunction but it’s also known as dyspepsia, chronic heartburn or acid indigestion. If left un treated the repeated flow of acid through the esophagus can scar and produce changes in the cells lining, it can cause cancer later in life.
A hiatus hernia develops when the stomach bulges up into the diaphragm, this condition can also cause heartburn, other triggers for heartburn are alcohol drinking, smoking and eating acidic foods.
The good news is that herbs can deal with this problem very easily
TIP: Doctors no longer recommend drinking milk to reduce heartburn, it has been proven that milk temporarily reduces the symptoms only to increase acid production by the stomach which causes more heartburn.
If you are one of those people, that uses antacids, think about this next time you are about to take one. Antacids reduce nutrient absorption, such as, Iron and increase blood pressure they upset the kidneys and their relief is short.
The best solution for heartburn is the use of herbs and vegetables.
We recommend:
* Papaya chewable tablets can be purchase in health stores and they are helpful reducing heartburn.
* Drink Aloe Vera juice to heal the intestinal tract.
* Drink Chamomile tea after meals to relieve esophageal irritation.
* Doctors are using Licorice to treat heartburn and stomach and esophagus ulcers.
* Drink a large glass of water at the first sign of heartburn, if the symptoms are not too strong this will help.
* Make a juice using raw potatoes. Wash the potato very well do not peel it, just place it in the juicer, mix it with some other juice for taste and drink immediately after juicing.
*Mr. Lagadyn; a Fifteen year heartburn and acid reflux sufferer cures himself in less than a week and throws away all of his drugs
