Hi shraddha,
I am in minneapolis.. so U can get the winter picture. I keep my dosa batter container (closed) near the furnace. Next day the fermented batter would be ready.
Try this...Pre heat the oven for 5 min. switch off... after 20 min keep the batter over night in it.. it may work.

You can also leave the oven light on. It keeps the oven at 90 deg constantly.

Hi Shraddha,
I live in Winnipeg, Canada and in winter the temp is upto -55º C. I leave the oven light on and keep the batter for exactly 8 hrs(not more)and then in room temp for upto 2 hrs.
Do not use batter directly from fridge for idlis. Keep in room temp for an hr and then use the batter.

Just cover the pot and leave it next to your heating vent, may be hot water or forced air.
