Hi,
This is a typical okkarai curry that my mom used to make for functions.
Here it goes.
You have to chop okkarai into small round pieces.
In a pan, add little oil, Mustard seeds, Urud dal, Dry whole red chillies (as per ur requirement). Wait till dal turns brown. Now add the chopped okkarai. saute well. let the okkarai fry in the oil. Do not add water. keep stirring once in a while. check for oil consistency.after 5-7 minutes add salt. let the okkarai get fried under low flame. when crisp and done you can trun off the flame.
This curry is usually a bit crispy. and is ofcourse very yummy. It tastes the best with Sambhar / rasam sadham.

If i am right, I think that vijaya asks for okkarai sweet, not okra curry!
See Hemant's cookery corner thread for that recipe.
Bye

Okkarai in tamil is a sweet...I also find that none of the sites carry this fantastic sweet. Forget the one with moong dal.. It is a halwa not okkarai.
