Did you ever get a response to this? If you did I would very much be interested in what you received. I have been searching the internet for the same thing.
Thanks,
Maria

There is no such healthy menu suited for everyone. One person's healthy menu is unhealthy for another. It all depends on one's physical condition, climate and culture. By the way there is nothing called healthy and unhealthy menu. It is the human beings who are healthy and unhealthy, not the menu. Sugar and salt are unhealthy for me, as I have both daibetes and hypertension. Sugar and salt are welcome for my 10 year old son.

I operate a cafe and run into the same problem.
The client requests more healthy choices but the fried foods always sell best.I offer salads,vegetables,baked/broiled chicken & fish, tuna salad, fresh fruit, cottage cheese, yogart, high fiber cereals etc.The majority of these same people buy cheeseburgers and fries and come back for a cookie for dessert and wonder why they can't lose weight.

As Ramdasji suggested, there is no such perfect healthy menu, but it all depends on the person's age, daily activity, weight, climate and many other factors.
but we can surely choose our food carefully so we don't have to take risks later.my suggestion is to follow the food pyramid. The food pyramid was suggested after long researches in this matter.it tells us how much food we need to eat from the six major food groups daily in order to be healthy and have a balanced diet.
I did a 'search' on this subject as I had to suggest my pregnant friend of a healthy ,balanced diet.I have with me the same and if anyone is interested in knowing abt food pyramid and abt vitamins and minerals and other such things, let me know,I can post it here.

The Basics of Good Nutrition
The food pyramid has classified our food into 6 groups.we should be having servings from each grp.
the Food Guide Pyramid
1.Bread, Cereal, Rice & Pasta Group.-6 to 11 servings
2.Vegetable group-3 to 5 servings
3.Fruit Group-2 to 4 servings
4. Milk, Yogurt & Cheese--2 to 3 servings
5. Meat, Poultry, Fish, Dry Beans, Eggs & Nuts-2 to 3 servings
6.Fats, Oils & Sweets--use sparingly
for the diagram and more info visit http://www.nal.usda.gov:8001/py/pmap.htm
In this iste ,they have explained what a serving is.if u want to gain weight, eat the greater servings specified and to lose weight, the least servings.
Balanced Diet
Contained within the food groups included in the food pyramid are more than 40 different nutrients essential to maintaining good health. These fall into six general categories: proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, and water.
PROTEINS
Proteins play a variety of important roles throughout the body. As the primary component of numerous tissues, they form much of the body's structure: Muscles are predominantly protein, as are the outer layers of hair, nails, and skin. And many more functions
Proteins are composed of compounds called amino acids.Of the 20 different amino acids, the body can manufacture all but 9.the 9 the body is unable to synthesize on its own are called "essential" amino acids.
Animal products such as meat, eggs, and milk provide the richest sources of both essential and nonessential amino acids. Some plant products contain significant amounts of amino acids, but no single plant source can provide all of the essential amino a cids in optimal amounts and proportions.
There is a diet for vegetarians to compensate this I will give at the end.
sources:
liver ,beef,lamb.pork,chicken
also found in fish, poultry, milk, cheese and eggs
CARBOHYDRATES
Carbohydrates can be classified in three categories: simple carbohydrates, complex carbohydrates, and fiber. All three consist of combinations of sugars (glucose, galactose, or fructose) bound together.
sources:
whole grains,cereals,fruits,veg.s,dairy,oatmeal etc.
LIPIDS OR FATS
don't take much but they are essential in sparse quauntities.
source:
nuts,seeds,coconut,oil,butter,cheese and butter products
Water
we need 6-8 glasses of water everyday.
vitamins,minerals
vitamins are divided into water soluble and fat soluble.
water soluble are C,B1,B2,B6,B7,B12,choline,folic acid,etc
fat soluble are A,D,E,K
sources:
Veg.s,fruits, meat, milk, dairy products, eggs, mushroom etc are grt sources of vitamins.
minerals
Calcium,copper,iodine,iron,magnesium,phosphorus,pottassium,selenium,sodium,zinc etc
sources:cereals,milk,meat,veggies,eggs,nuts,fish and water
We need to eat some servings of all these in order to have a good balanced diet. The food guide pyramid was designed for this. The key is to eat lots of fruits and veggies, milk and products and use sparingly, but not avoid fat and sugar.Eating bread, rice etc is a must.6-8 glasses of water are needed everyday.
I tried some links for more good sources of these foods, but they are not working.Think the probl. is with my connection. You can go to Google and type essential nutrients and will get lot of info. There is a site which discussses what combination of food must a vegetarian take in order to get enough proteins properly.taking one source only will not be sufficient. Our body can absorb them only together. There was this site which explanied it in detail, but now I cannot find it.sorry abt that.
Hope this helps you.Sorry for the delay.

Hi Rakhi, That was a great info. Really useful . Thanks so much. Have a doubt .. your column says "There is a diet for vegetarians to compensate this I will give at the end. "
can you please complete this and specify what are the sources of proteins for vegetarians.
Thanks
