Its Easy to prepare the puttu
Method:
1.Steam the rice flour in a idli cooker. That is place the rice flour in the idli plates & steam it in a cooker.
2.When the rice flour is half cooked remove it the rice flour from cooker & sprinkle the salt water over the rice flour.
3.Again steam the rice flour till it is cooked
4.u could feel the difference when the rice flour is cooked.
5. remove the rice flour then add desired sugar, coconut,Elakai, little bit of ghee.
the puttu is ready
try this out
cheers

Hi dharani, i tried your puttu. It didn't get cooked properly even after one hour. Only the upper portions were cooked and the inside left uncooked. While sprinkling salt water should we remove and mix the floor thoroughly. pls let me know.

The best way to make puttu is....
Mix the rice flour with lukewarm salt water and mix it finely using your hands. Keep it for 20 minutes. Now steam it in an idlimaker or cooker.
(For a better taste, fry the rice flour in a pan by continuous stirring for about 5 min or till the flour is hot, and then mix with salt water. Adding fresh grated coconut while mixing with salt water will give a nice flavour to puttu.)

you can make lovely puttu the follow. manner:
first, make sure that the rice flour is not too soft, it should be coarse. then fry it in a pan just a little so that the raw smell goes. it should not get red.
mix water and salt in the rice flour. do not put too much water. when you mix, take a little flour in your hand and press it lightly. if it forms a ball, then your flour is ready. if it falls apart, then mix more water.
now put the flour in 'puttu kutti', if you have one, layered with coconut, or put it in idli cooker. steam till nice smell comes, about 10 mts.
your puttu is ready.
cheers
