I always send mini (kutti) idlies with chutney powder and also bread uppuma is very handy. Also paruppupodi sadham (dhal powder - rice) with some curry. Lemon rice, coconut rice, etc. with some cashews on it. Semia (vermicelli) uppuma, noodles - with vegetables cooked like uppuma. One of my daughter likes to take cereal and milk for lunch because we make them eat idly or dosai in the morning. I also send cut banana for snack or tetra pack juice

Hi Vidya,
How about
School Dinner - 1. Chapati topped with butter and sugar or any gravy ..roll it and cut ino mini rolls.
2. cheese strings
3. a small cup of slightly cooked variety of vegetables with pepper and salt.- carrots, brocolli, peas, sweet corns(frozen),cauliflower (try no more than two varity vegetables :-) at a time)
Lunch- banana or pear or pomegranet or strawberries.
my daughter is fond of only packed lunches after trying this menu.
try the following
1. tell them the menu previous night and ask what they prefer for school
this technique has given me the opportunity to see the empty lunch box.

I give my daughter 'American' sandwiches :
Bread, apply butter and tomato ketchup, one slice of cheese and lots of salad e.g Doles Classic Iceberg salad.
She loves them.

I usually send the following lunch for my daughter.
* Chik peas or any other beans cooked Indian style - with seasoning, coconut and cilantro.
* Potato sandwich - Spread cilantro chutney one side and spread a lot of regular potato curry and make it in the sandwich maker. This can be made with any stuffing.
* Grilled cheese sandwich made in dosa tawa
* Dosa rolls - spread idli podi on dosa, roll it tight and cut into small rolls.
* Aloo paratha - potato stuffed chappati cut into little pieces.
* Methi / spinach paratha - Chappati made out of wheat flour and methi/spinach mixed together, cut into little pieces.
* Ofcourse our usual stuffs like, rava upma, verimecili upma, aval upma, poha upma, bread upma, idli (spread idli podi over it and cut into little pieces), idli upma, lemon rice, coconut, rice, tamarind rice, peas pulao, fried rice etc.
