Review
'Meesa Madhavan', the latest Dileep starrer, has hit the theatres at a time when even superstar films like 'Onnaaman' and 'Phantom' are struggling at the box office. This relatively low-budget film directed by Lal Jose is likely to emerge a hit and re-iterate Dileep's position as the only minimum guarantee star in Malayalam now. Dileep excels as Madhavan. He succeeds in satisfying his fans. Kavya Madhavan as Rugmini, Jagathy Sreekumar as Bhageerathan Pillai and the others in the cast have essayed their roles well. Indrajit, who somehow didn't get as noticed as he should have been in 'Oomapenninu Uriyaadaapayyan', seems to hog the limelight as Eappan Pappachi. He does his part with panache. Art-director Joseph Nellikkal, cinematographer S.Kumar and director Lal Jose have canned some really spectacular shots in Pollachi and other picturesque locations. The songs shot in these locations, though colourful, seem more like Tamil songs rather than Malayalam ones, owing to the fast music by Vidyasagar and the choreography by Prasannan. The songs penned by Gireesh Puthencherry could get very popular. The film, in total, is a full-length entertainer, but could have been a 'cleaner' entertainer if some of the vulgar scenes and double-edged dialogues had been avoided.

Story Line
Madhavan, a young man, turns into a thief very early in life, under unique circumstances. In due course, he comes to be known as 'Meesa' Madhavan, a do-gooder like Robin Hood. Whatever the villagers need, he 'steals' it for them and therefore is loved by all... except moneylender Bhageerathan Pillai, who fears him the most. Bhageerathan Pillai and his aide Thrivikraman try their best to get Madhavan trapped, but in vain. When Bhageerathan Pillai's young daughter Rugmini comes from town after completing her studies, she joins her father in devising ways to trap Madhavan. However, she soon realizes Madhavan's good nature and changes her mind. With the arrival of the villainous Sub-Inspector of Police, Eappan Papachi, things take a totally new turn.
